Blackpool hoping to gatecrash Play Offs

Realistically I think we’ll finish a respectable 10th, 11th or 12th. Optimistically it would be marvellous to be in with a shout of top 6 with 2 or 3 games to go.

Two worlds, real and dream. Realistically we're going to come up a fraction short, we'd have to win so many. But of course you never know.

Said this before though, and it's more a dreamworld thing than real. When we face the competition in the summer for the likes of Josh and Marv, the level of it is going up all the while, there'll be Prem clubs fighting for it if Josh continues to shine, not Champ like now.

If we could find a way to keep the squad intact through the summer, and get off to a flyer next year, then they may fancy seeing if they can make it up with us. If we're treading water then of course they'll be gone.

That’s Marv sorted 😎 🖋

mmmm...wish I could agree but think you are way too optimistic in who is good enough for the Pl..
Only Bowler is seriously in with a lower PL team shout. Epo needs another 6 months. Beyond that then the nearest is Grimmy, who is some way short of that level as of now. Again maybe a consistent year adding things he's lacking and look at it then.

We'd need a shed load of quality bringing in- probably 8 first XI players.

Let’s not forget the team that gave us the best ride ever. How many of those were considered Premiership quality with a dozen games to go? Only a couple, but sheer will got them there.

Keshi too

Don't understand all this "too soon" nonsense. If you had the opportunity to bank £200m you'd take it wouldn't you? That said it would take 9 wins out of 11 to make the play offs and I'm pretty sure that won't happen. If it did happen though we would have a great chance. There's no one to fear at all up there if you accept that Fulham are going up automatically.

We’re 9 points off the payoffs, it’s doable.
Mathematically it's doable but realistically it's not. Factor in it's ten points too as our goal difference is significantly worse than those teams in the play offs. Factor in there's also seven teams above us trying to get in there too. Factor in our inconsistency in stringing any sort of consecutive wins together. We've had a great season, much better than most of us expected but let's stay in the real world.

At the same point in 09/10 season when we made the playoffs on 70 points we had 50 compared to our 48 now. The 4 games after that in 09/10 we got a total of 4 points. Never say never.

What you fail to mention and is just as important as what you quote is that in that season and at this point we were 7th in the league not the 14th that we are now. And we were only two points outside of the play offs not the in effect ten points that we are now. Two factors much more relevant than what you quote.

Agree but I only posted as a guideline from that season. This season also has teams with quite a few games in hand which could work in our favour.

but you missed out the most relevant guidelines. And I don't get your point on games in hand. We've a game in hand on Preston and that's about it. Like I said, it's nice to dream but eventually you wake up and you're back in the real world. We are having a great season that's the reality but hopes of making the play offs are just peoples imagination running wild.. To make up those ten points will take a minimum of four games and that's assuming nobody else in between all start to have bad runs too.

I don't get your negativity nor the point you're trying to make in regards to all of this? I merely pointed out that we are 2 points behind were we was at the same point as now. The next 4 games we only gained 4 points from a total of 12 and that doesn't even include the 4-1 drumming we got at Newcastle.

If we all just sat back and accepted nothing then we would never move forward. Try be a little adventurous instead of argumentative towards a random post for no reason.

All being said, if we didn't reach the play offs then so be it, it's been a great season and one we should all embrace and look forward to next season.

not being negative just realistic. Nor do I say anything about accepting nothing. I've also made the point about it being a great season. All I've done is point out some pretty pertinent facts which you conveniently overlooked and which are far more relevant than the point you make. .

This is a good point ; that season there were two clubs heading for 90 points or more and depressing the points totals achieved by everyone else. We finished sixth with only 70 points, for example. We may be broadly on course for that now, but it still needs us to win a very high percentage of our remaining games and even then it almost certainly won't be enough.

We need to do the same as we did last year at this stage so not impossible. Win the next two and it is very much on in my book

The step up between each of the four divisions is exponential; from L2 to L1 is one step; the change again from L1 to Champ is greater, and the the gap between the Championship to the PL is huge. Critch has proved himself as a coach that can create a great team spirit between mainly younger players because that's what he's experienced at. It's proved successful between L1 and the Championship but to have a proper go at competing in the PL we'd need additional players being brought in who have that higher leage experience and I'm not sure right now that he's capable of managing the egos that go with a team half made up of experienced PL or higher Championship players capable of keeping us in the top flight. I think we need to mature as a squad.

Next 3 games all at home are crucial. 6/7 points needed to have a sniff of the play offs going into the pne and rovers games.
I don’t think it would be too soon. I’m sure we’d be as competitive as we were last time, even if we go back down.
The point would be that all SS’s plans to set the club up on a stable footing for the next 20 years or so could be brought forward. Training ground, East Stand, club infrastructure could all be paid for with cash, putting us in a great position, whether that’s in the PL or Championship the following season.
For what it’s worth I think we’ll be a bit short, but would be great to be in with a shout on the final day of the season

Consolidation was the aim and we've just about achieved that.
We're not going to make the playoffs, but to be even discussing the possibility at this stage of the season, should make every Blackpool supporter grateful and proud.
All in all a marvellous effort, when comparing our PROGRESS to that of Posh and Hull.
As far as our main rivals are concerned, we've answered their pre-season taunts.

I love seasons like this. We are discussing pros and cons of play offs, will we, won’t we, can we can’t we. Much better than no chance of going down or up which leads to late season doldrums, obviously I would like to think we can make it but I really don’t care I’m just enjoying a successful return to the Championship the terrific atmosphere at the games and a club that’s all pulling together, from the top to the bottom.🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊😍😍😍😍😍

It’s unlikely we’ll make the playoffs but enough to make it interesting, a run of wins is needed & if we can’t my second goal would be to finish above that lot at the end of the M55 & as high up as possible.

You don’t receive that on day 1 and we would pretty much have to build a new side to compete. Another year of improving the quality of the team and who knows, we might go up and stay up.
we are building the club for a bright future, 150 million would be a great help whether we stayed up or not.

I think we will miss out this year on the Play Offs , build in the sunmer and make them next season
Sadly we'll lose Bowler, Keogh, Stewart and Husband will be another year older, I think Maxwell might leave and so depends on how we recruit but also some big teams coming down, few decent ones coming up - I think the bookies will have us just missing relegation but only just!

We all like to dream about a return to the Prem. Who knows what the future may hold, others like Burnley ,BOURNEMOUTH and Wigan have held their own up there for lengthy periods of time but for the moment a dream is all it is.

Great progress is being made under the present top class owner and manager and if that continues it`s asking a lot but who knows where we might get to. Let`s be realistic though and not get too far ahead of ourselves.

why will we lose Stewart?
