Blackpool in Tier 3

I'd be interested to see the map of where the deaths took place. RIP all of them.
These death figures are up the wall. Anyone who tested positive then died within 28 days, of any cause, is counted as a covid death. Absolute 💩

I have a school friend whose Dad sadly passed away a few months back. He has had cancer 3 times. They wanted to put it down to covid. She was having none of it!

get lost you hypocrite, while most were playing by the rules and using common sense, you upped sticks and went on holiday ☹️ Remind us what happened????
I went on holiday when it was allowed and got Covid. Not a hypocrite at all. However, my example would be a good reason for you to think about obeying the rules.

Might have been allowed, but not exactly sensible during a pandemic, selfish I’d say, it’s because of people that couldn’t wait to get away on their jollies that we are where we are.

I know loads that have had it and loads that probably would have tested positive (myself included) but refuse to be tested.
to be honest I find your attitude despicable , even worse that you don’t live in the area, the town of Blackpool is totally on its backside, many people are at breaking point.
You find my attitude despicable. That is laughable considering you seem to be utterly irresponsible and self centred as others have already posted . the fact that you may have been positive but refused to be tested is disgusting. You could not sink any lower in the pits of our society.

On the point of where I live do you seriously think there is something unique about Blackpool being in tier 3 compared to the many other places like Sheffield also in tier 3 who are having to live very isolated lives and are sacrificing much contact this Christmas in order to help others and those around me as well as myself stay safe, healthy and alive until a vaccine becomes available.

The fact that you seem totally unable to grasp that says little for your intellect , sense of responsibility or social conscience.

bizarre

The official site has been updated to the 21st, WL is indeed now under 200 Ribble is still just over, previous data was to the 20th.

Big drop in case numbers from 14 to 15 Nov in WL, that one day dropping out moved things a lot, not sure that you can base policy on day to day variations though.

I didnt say you could. I simply corrected your error.

I love going to the pub and having a couple of pints, especially after work, but it’s far more important to get this virus under control and try to avoid as many deaths as possible.

To those who say they’re not going to comply, I say grow up and think about others, not just your selfish self. The sooner you do, the sooner this will all be over.

No. Ribble still under according to this and figures going down across the board today:

Matt Honcock did say say reviewing every fortnight yes. Heres hoping for some swift improvements.
Can’t see them lowering any tiers and letting pubs open again just before Christmas. These reviews didn’t bring about much positive change last time . Just a bit of lip service I think 🥴

They are like the Hotel California. You can never leave!

I and the rest of my family have complied since the third week of March , probably more than most through some very difficult circumstances. but we’ve now like many others had enough, enough of the bull shit and enough of the goal posts moving every other week, enough of the scare mongering scientists and enough of being lied to every day.

Mid Jan at the earliest I reckon as they will be cautious at to the impact of the Xmas moratorium both before and after

It simply states the stats from Radio Lancs facebook page. They are official and updated daily but you believe what you want.

They've obviously taking the figures from the site that I'm using, but by trying to get a day ahead of the official site they're missing out late cases and thus understate the level of infection.

The case for West Lancs being in T3 is marginal, if cases keep coming down there's perhaps a good chance that part of the county will drop down to T2 on the 16th.

The figures I have quoted are also backed up on the BBC site

Can you prove that?

The post came out a hour after the official site was updated, yesterday's post was right for WL but wrong for Ribble, and I can't think of any other possible source that they might be using.

There is also the issue of comparability, if you're saying why is X T2 and Y T3 then you'll want to use data covering the same time period.

BBC figures match exactly! BBC data wrong too?

Unfortunately the physical movement through the tiers during the 5 day Christmas relaxation of the present measures, can only end in another late January lockdown nationally, I would think.

The blow might be softened if we were given financial support in line with the extra cost to the local economy that comes with the imposition of tier 3. When we originally went into tier 3 the cupboard was bare when it came to additional funding but as soon as a national lockdown was announced they magically found the money to ease the burden.

Again we are being thrust into tier 3 with no additional support. It is no wonder people are bitter about the apparent anomalies when businesses and livelihoods are at risk.

Took me to an episode of Flog It.

Click on the map, scroll in and out to see larger or smaller areas.
Not stating West Lancs or Ribble Vslley as place names as these are districts.
Very good on the flog it.
Anyway, I'm watching footy with my Dad and a beer so I'm off.
Nice chatting.

Where are Benton and Maynard when you need them.....
To be fair to Maynard he has stuck up for his constituents in the past against the government and he was critical of the Cummings eye test debacle. Also, I think he has written a letter objecting to this too. Benton, on the other hand, seems more interested in claiming expenses he isn't entitled to from his former post in Yorkshire and keeping on the right side of Boris to give a stuff about the poor schmucks who voted him in.

Its a tricky one.
Perhaps we should have kept the country in tier 3 or even full lockdown until xmas.

From what i have seen this 'lockdown' has not been taken anywhere near as seriously as the 1st.

Went out for a little walk last night some jogger almost knocked me over as they came tearing past so close. A few couldnt care less no mask types larking about in the supermarket.
I do what i can to socially distance & be respectful to others but what can you do when some still refuse to give a fook about social distancing & guidelines.
Dont get me wrong most people are decent but unfortunately everytime you leave the house you are still at risk of getting this disease.
This is largely due to the behaviour of selfish bellends.

Lots of moaning about what level we should or shouldn’t be in but I’ve not seen any comments yet about the death rate which is still rising 498 Covid related deaths in the last 24 hours.

That’s gone down, it was over 600 yesterday, anyway that’s getting away from the point!!!
Not really its still high & Blackpool has had more deaths than most places per head of population.
Surely that is the whole point of everything or are you happy people are croaking as long as its not you?

Blackpool r rate is below the national average in England.

I get that mate but it is still hovering around 1 and will likely rise above if you lift restrictions. The national average is not good enough & that is why the disease spreads and many more die.
If i had my way i would not lift restrictions until we were down to 0.5
Remember a massive thing was made about the R rate originally,
IMO You need to get it down to a level where you have a bit of breathing room.
0.9 is too close to allowing the virus to jump above 1 and increase again in a matter of weeks.

Good piece here about the R & how even a small jump above 1 is a disaster

On that basis everyone should be in tier 3
