Blackpool v Barnsley Official Matchday Thread 20.04.24

All about the game tomorrow, I will be watching that, then we can raise our blood pressure for Saturday. uTMP 🍊

Feels like Oxford are gone. Barnsley is the more realistic target given their form is collapsing. Unfortunately even if they lose to Pompey and us, their last game is Northampton at home

I felt the same but with a quick turnaround for a Friday night game, against Steve Evans bruisers, they'll need to pick themselves up and go again with the Sky cameras there to add a bit more pressure. I still expect them to make it but all bets will be off if they choke again. Ultimately we just need to focus on beating Barnsley and taking it to the last game of the season.

Barnsley and Oxford both losing still means we have a slim chance, obviously still depends on other results, all we can do is get loud and support the lads over the line. A lot of things went against us this season otherwise I reckon top 4. Too many silly mistakes cost us.

However #UTMP

A win on this day whether it gets us in the playofs or not, would be so special.

I think the"too many silly mistakes" is an indication that we are not good enough, but at least our season is still alive with only two games to go. A little more quality injection in January may have got us over the line, but two of our signings on deadline day were not first team ready. Says a lot about how much the owner is willing to invest!

Definitely all it needed was a couple of experienced players to help get the team playing properly. Would be a different story totally.

Your last sentence is so far off the mark. I take it you haven´t thought about all the off-field investment to secure the future of the club. Our club is in excellent hands for the first time in decades. UTMP!

Evans has fooked off to Rotherham apparently !

I am not blaming the owner, just making a statement about investment in the first team. I am sure we are in safe hands and unlikely to have points deductions and other sanctions because of overspending!

He hasn't got fathomless pockets. He's doing his best. UTMP!
I am sure he is. It is his money and he can do exactly what he likes with it, including not overspending on the first team. At least we will still exist as a club no matter which division we are in!

What do you want in practical terms ? A viable club with a good infrastructure? Stick with SS. Of course we all want to be in the Championship but the guy can't pay for and do everything. UTMP!

What is it with your understanding of English. There is nothing I have said that does not agree with what you have said. We don't want the owner overspending on the first team. We would rather have a viable club whatever division we are in. It is his money and we do not expect him to buy the Bishops and Brannagans of this world!

The players of Byers and Coulson quality won’t be first team ready otherwise they would be playing in the first team. They both got up to speed pretty quick.

What went against us this season that wasn’t self-inflicted? We sold Yates, we played players out of position for no good reason and in a system they repeatedly demonstrated were not suited to. We perpetually sit deep to defend a one nil lead, bring on subs at seventy minutes and have not been taught how to defend as a team. In a word we have been Critchified.

Weather looks decent today, wind speed down from 50mph to 10mph so should be a great game.

We should be beating teams like these.
Time for the boys to stand up and be counted with the right decision making from Critchley to set us on course to a vital win.
The GD is practically even with their attack far outgunning the Pool but our defence far outweighing theirs.
Looks like a recipe for goals goals goals. So 0-0 it is.
Come on the the Tangerine wizards.

'... In a word we have been Critchified ...' - and, generally performed, especially on our travels, as though we were petrified!

Nothing wrong with my understanding of English. Oh,at least put a question mark (?) after your question. UTMP.

I’ve not forgot what they did to Kes, into these Kestrel Killers
To be fair, and if memory serves, the miscreant responsible for the 'wicked deed', was Billy Casper's elder half-brother Jud, and, although a decidedly unsavoury character, I don't think we're in any position to be able to state, with any degree of certainty, he either was, or wasn't, a Tykes fan.

Just wanted to add that final point - if only 'for balance'.
