Blackpool v Bournemouth Official Matchday Thread 12.02.21

Most fans of small clubs think Refs are deliberately against them for some reason

Most fans of Big Clubs think exactly the same thing

Fact
I'll push your theory even further Blood and say most fans of clubs think refs are deliberately against them. Not that sure it helps us much all the hostility tbh even when the ref has his inconsistent hat on like today. Now, as for liners missing something we could see 100 yards away.....

Disappointed but we played very well today, sometimes you win when really you shouldn't & today was vice versa.

Definitely deserved more.

Madines header just had to hit the empty net, CJs strike an inch lower.

Deflected Cross put into own net, another slip from sterling to allow their guy in at the end.

Bournemouth kept going till the end but got the rub of the green today.

Annoying, but we can take pride from that today.

Were a good team, can hurt anyone and cause them many problems. Could do with more composure on the ball though.

Onto the next one.

Don't think it was a slip by sterling, he was pushed to the ground

Said at half time if there was a second goal in the game & we didn’t score it then we would lose….. harsh to take but it didn’t feel as harsh as Middlesbrough felt. Maybe because the mid table / not going up/ not going down / season is going to peater out realistically scenario is starting to happen.

On a critical side Critch could have brought Dougall on late on to offer more protection. That is nit picking.
Marvin’s injury aside the subs were poor. Both wingers should have replaced to offer fresher legs late on to help the full backs out. Unless Yates was injured ? - that seemed a pointless / not tactically aware sub with Lavery.

Not seen the game yet, I'm jiggered after cycling up some bastard hills in Spain. I got back to base just after half time. I feared the worst when Marv went off. A back 4 of Gabriel, Casey, Thorniley and Sterling. Three youngsters and one just back from a loan, barely played with each other. Sounds like they did ok but who was in charge? Must've missed Marv.

Critchley has been busy building a squad ethic. I’m pretty sure he thought like we did that the lads would play it out solid for the win or at worst a draw. He probably also knew that he is resting Stewart after this game for recovery so keep him going to the end. The Marv injury disrupted us, even though there was no real fault on Casey who did ok.

We’ve always looked a player short of a being a really dangerous side because of the squad building being preferred over a “talisman” for want of a better word. We now have one so it’s such a shame we aren’t just that little bit closer to a run to capitalise on the short period we will likely have of Bowler running the show for us. Frustrating but positive at the same time.

I didn’t give us a cat in hells against the likes of Fulham and Bournemouth this season so to worry them both seriously is magic in of itself.

One of the worst I've felt coming away from a game. We played so so well and deserved all three points so to come away with none is soul destroying. Their keeper kept them in it. Easy to blame the ref but ultimately it wasn't his fault they scored two late goals. His poor decisions were generally free kicks given to them in the centre of the park. We've not played as well and created as many chances as that much more this season. And Scott Parker can fuck off too with his comments that they deserved to win.

I’ll 2nd the comment Scott Parker can fuck off used to like him. Very disappointed coming away from the ground too after an immense performance but with pride today as opposed to anger being beaten by Luton. Madine was brilliant today especially with his shithousery at it’s best! That was very tough to take today 😢

If Scott Parker believes that he is an idiot. Any decent manager would have admitted his side was lucky to win after a performance like that. Yes praise them for keeping going until the end but the Bournemouth players themselves will know they were outplayed. Managers should be honest after a game - if Parker and his team believe that was a good performance from them and they continue to play like that until the end of the season they won’t finish in the top 2 which I sincerely hope happens 😀

He’s an idiot then l agree!👍🤣

Why is anyone worried about what Scott Parker has said….doesn’t change the result and if I were him I’d say my team deserved to win……keeps my teams confidence up…..simple psychology ……he won’t really think that….come on lads wise up eh?

Can't say we deserved three points after the late capitulation and their possession.
For all our excuses, I'm cncerned about more injuries and how we might bounce back after yesterday's disappointment against a team who outfought, outthought and outplayed us in our first home game of the season

Dont believe we outplayed them they are a very good side and overall they were the better side but i believe we had the better chances and limited theirs overall. Yet again we punched above our weight and were unlucky. The margin in class was quite wide so just shows what a effort the players are putting in and how critch is getting us to perform at this level against the better sides .

If Critch has one failing it is reading how the game is going. In the last 10 minutes of normal time they were getting stronger while we were beginning to struggle, particularly in midfield with Stewart, understandably running out of steam. With Big Marv already off injured I thought the Yates substitution was unnecessary and would have liked Dougall on for Stewart. Also, after they got the equaliser I thought we could have done more to slow the game down and brought on Reece James as we were getting over run on our left. I suppose everything is easy with hindsight and we competed well against a team that has had a lot of money thrown at it.
