Blackpool v Fleetwood Official Matchnight Thread 09.04.24

Current crop of strikers (Rhodes aside who is not our player) are league 2 level. Apparently bought for potential but Joseph and Kouassi could probably do with a loan move for next season. What has happened to Lavery is a real shame, he probably needs a change of scene for his career.
We need a complete summer refresh up front. We have lost out on Mark Harris recently and turned down Bishop. We really do need to get the final third right over the summer.
Agree about the strikers, but we also need players (and a system) that bring our strikers into the action.

I feel a little sorry for Lavery. Until his injury against Blackburn he looked really good.

I think Critchley is caught between two ideas, first being a wide attack, and the second being a sort of creative hub in the middle. Reality is that neither is working as the players are not consistently good enough in either area. This is obviously frustrating for him.
Dembele has been good but not consistent enough and we cannot expect him to carry a team to promotion at his age / physical level.
I think he needs to choose. Are we a team with wingers that will load the ball into the box again and again over 90 mins or are we a team that will build the play through the middle. Surely given the strikers we have it’s the former. But the squad is messy and doesn’t really give enough quality for either approach.

Can't attend tonight and quite relieved about that as I really can't be arsed.

I can see a scabby 1-0 or a bore draw.

I hope I'm wrong and it's a good game 👍

I'd take 1-0 against these. Get the feeling that we won't be playing them again anytime soon so last thing we need is a loss. I dont trust us to win against anyone right now.

When we went on that wonderful run to get into the playoffs to then play Notts Forest then Cardiff we were the form team which hardly applies now. However whilst still mathematically possible got to keep hoping 🫰

Cambridge sold 750 !! It’s a embarrassing amount bearing in mind how much sales promotion they have been doing
I'm on Cody army FB Group and they have been begging fans to buy Tickets for tonight's game, Tram lines are down at Norbreck castle there having to catch bus lol and Doormen at Manchester are knocking them back for being u18 i've got a Funny feeling it's not going to be Fleetwoods night ha ha

Don't know what to think. Lavery has been terrible so he needs to do much better. Good to see Hubby back although Casey hasn't done anything wrong and CJ over Gabriel, that will get a few going.

Good to see Morgan back on the bench, surprised he's left Casey out, but even more surprised that CJ gets in, in front of.....well, anybody, to be honest.
Roll of the dice again with Lavery getting the nod to partner Beesley, woefully short of decent strikers without Rhodes and it can't do any of them any good all the chopping and changing. Personally, I'd have started Kouassi again tonight, just for a bit of continuity

Another strange team selection - think that guarantees Hubby another 12 month contract and woiuldn’t be surprised if Casey wants away!

Can't believe I'm saying this but I feel we all owe Charlie a huge debt of gratitude so I'd be saying to the team "OK lads, play as well as you like but when you get close to their goal, just kick it anywhere. Just don't score."
They should be able to do that.
(Just like when Stoke came in the Prem year - missed absolute sitters by kilometres)

I think NC's lineup changes are simply designed to trick us into thinking there's some kind of game plan.
Beesley & Lavery over Kouassi when he's playing a winger (of sorts) in CJ where he expects crosses.
Makes no sense - then again it's non-league driftwood ffs.

It's beyond words that Hamilton has been given another start after his beyond poor performance on Saturday.

Brett, Steve Eyre(urgh) and some other muppet (is he a Radio Lancs Cod commentator?)

Where is Chizzy? Local parish council planning committee?
