Blackpool v Lincoln Official Matchday Thread 03.09.20

Lots of obvious cha bes required. Get 2 experienced CB,s. Get a midfield player who can pass and dictate the game. Play Msdine up front and Yates on the left. That was where Yates played last year and had success.

Sarkic for Madine was just a piss poor substitution, because it left the manager with one more change, that was always going to be Williams.
Move Yates left and play Madine down the middle. Yates closing down and Madine holding the ball up and hopefully providing a goal threat.
I sometimes think managers avoid the obvious, to try and show they know something more than the average fan.
Today the average fan questioned this substitution at the time, earlier in this thread.
Just because it's blatantly obvious doesn't mean its wrong, defend from the front.

Thought Liam Bridcutt making a last ditch interception of CJ was pivotal, split second slower and CJ would have been clean through with a decent opportunity to score the third.

Saw Liam Bridcut last season for Bolton, he lasted only 1/2 hour before going off injured if he had played the 90 minutes I think we would have lost. He ran the midfield and seemed to want it more, I said after the match he's the type of player we need to boss games.

Bridcut was excellent - he was the difference imo. His passing was really good. They just moved it quicker in the final third. Their winger was really good, but Hamilton caused equal problems. Their defence was a bit dicey as was ours. Bridcut just had a pass in him and they took better set pieces. That was the difference for me.

Agreed td. But we had had it by 75 mins. All were completely knackered including our own subs. We need a centre half (like Crainey) and a captain (Adam. Ferguson. Spearing). Not difficult

We need a centre half like Crainey and Spearing back.

Give me strength. Not even our defending was as bad as some of these comments.

It’s completely acceptable to be pissed off after today’s game. Worryingly are the reminders of 10 years ago a Liverpool win at a time of ownership trauma and of 6 years ago a Cardiff win at a time of an escalated protest and total disharmony. We have to be in a far more harmonised position now with a more comfortable feeling.............I just feel slightly anxious 😦

We need patience from the fans, we are not called the faithful for nothing, too many started going in the prem know feck all about the beautiful game types on here.

Well, he's not done so up to now.
4 games, completely new team. Still under construction. Husband out injured til sub appearance last week. Garbutt and Gabriel just arrived. Central defenders yesterday starting together for the first time.

Shouldn't need spelling out this, tbh, to fans who have been watching football for a while, IMO.

The worst people are those that exaggerate the excitement. No one compared us to Real Madrid, majority said that if we play like we did against Everton and Liverpool we had a huge chance. We haven't so far.
I get that Kurt, but they were meaningless friendlies against teams playing less than 10% of their capabilities so I find it impossible to use that as a barometer

The reason for such a big reaction isnt the loss, it was the manner in which we chucked it away in the last 5 mins. That was hugely frustrating and I'm surprised that anyone is surprised by the reaction.

The fact is that it was actually a very decent performance, and we did a lot right. We were the better team for 3/4 of the game. I'm positive the way we're playing will soon start yielding results, I just wish we could start making other teams earn their win because right now our opposition hasn't really had to try and create anything.

With all the talk of inexperience Husband giving away a penalty especially at that point in the game is criminal. Safe to say he's not the solution to the Centre Half problem.
I'm not entirely convinced that second one was a penalty. I keep watching it over an over trying to highlight the feet. It looks like husband was running half a pace behind the Lincoln player and had his hand on his back. Looked to be either a slip, not surprising in those conditions, or a dive. I got the picture froze just before he went down and there doesn't appear to be an contact except for the hand. Nevertherless, Husband should have controlled the ball better and got it away.

That's the problem though - we really shouldn't be experimenting at this stage of the season.
In a very ideal world maybe. And this one isn't. We are only 4 games in, and Husband came in as he's been injured since preseason. Liverpool and United conceded 7 and 6 yesterday with established defences. At least our defence isn't the finished article. It will improve. 8 points after 11 games in 2006/7.

For me Mitchell good going forwards. Looking lost making poor decisions defensively, not just in this game. Needs defensive coaching. I thought Husband had played well until the sending off. A poor decision by him to first of all faff about in clearing the ball followed by a further poor decision in the penalty area imo. He will reflect and learn.
Otherwise some very good play by the team combined with quite a few misplaced passes and poor decisions. These are all areas I am sure will be looked at and worked on and improved. Onwards and upwards.

Mitchell started life as a winger and was moved back at some point. Not very successfully by the look of it - though it is early days, he's been out for 18 months - he looks fine going forwards though. I'd leave Lubala out and move Mitchell there, and play Garbutt at left back. Unless we sign a central striker and shift Yates to the left.
