Blackpool v Lincoln Official Matchday Thread 03.09.20

Utter bollocks, can't believe the subs, no sense in them at all. As things stand we are in the bottom 4, early days I know but something has to change and bloody soon!

Will I get stick if I say
pool look poor and the coach has no experience in this level
or do I just need to relax and have patiences

Wave after wave of attacking players brought in and we field that defence today. Throughout the whole game it was panic stations, our passing in midfield made up for it in the first seventy minutes but clearly we can't complete for ninety minutes. Lincoln will be up there and we won't because, although we look better going forward than them, they can actually clear their lines.

Worrying start.

I can't write anything constructive at the moment.
I'll be back when I calm down.
Go grab a beer Insy, it's calmed me down instantly. The fact the golf course is closed tomorrow and I have to go sofa shopping isn't helping this result.

I genuinely can’t believe we haven’t signed a centre half, I still think with time we’ll turn this around, you can see the quality, but at the minute they look like strangers...
We need some genuinely league one experience at centre half and centre mid

Second half we just lost control, the subs didn't improve us, defensively cluless.

So we cant win away and now embarrassingly gift all the goals at home.

👎

Only seen the second half but that was simply not good enough all over the park.
You saw the worst of it 20s, but if we don’t start going direct in the final third we are relegation fodder with our defensive ‘ahem’ unit.

I don't mind bringing on Williams if your going to change your formation but sticking with 4-3-3 isn't working Neil for anyone.

Experienced team wins that 2-1 but we implode. Desperate for some experience at the back. We're not actually that far away but these losses will erode confidence and this team dont want to be in a dogfight at the bottom end.

Little to be positive about there. Stupid mistakes. No one taking charge. No closing them down. I could go on and on.

We don’t have the skilful players to play his style of play

Yep, said the same in the match thread last week. I suggested that NC is trying to play a championship level standard with L2 signings - hope I'm proved wrong.

Don't know if it's nerves, but after watching the 4 league games so far, I would say there's an average of 4 unforced errors per match in our defenders. If it's not nerves it's a lack of concentration. Either way it's simply not good enough.

I also agree that we should have managed the game out for a 2-1 win
Even at 2-2, a confident player would have put us 3-2 up rather than squaring the ball

Hugely disappointing I'm afraid

Moving Mitchell forward was obvious and a good substitution. Can’t understand Sarkic, he’s utterly useless and we lost our way without Yates.

We are more than good enough to be up there midfield and upfront, but defensively, just too many goal-gifting mistakes. Not minor mistakes, shockers. Thought Husband was solid, in fact very good, to his mistake.

Very frustrating, but there is definite hope there.

The reason Madine didn't come on was because he'd have never touched the ball.

Basics on the pitch were absolutely awful, simple passes, set paly, crosses, long ball*. The only time we looked decent was when we had the ball 5 yards either side of the halfway line and moved it sideways.

Some of this isn't about gelling, although there were some occasions of players getting mixed up, but about experience on and off the pitch, a bit of quality on the pitch, but equally about a plan and there I worry.

* I didn't mention defending mistakes as I said earlier you can't give a goal away a game. BUT BLEEDIN' THREE???

Even though the subs seemed to weaken the side, if it wasn’t for Husband’s error, we would have won that game against a decent Lincoln side.

Well he was the solution twenty minutes ago.

Lets not forget the cut out he made in the first half, saved us.

Critch said this week that "we lacked some guile and intelligence. Would experience make a massive difference? Maybe, maybe not. I’ll have to go away and think about that one.”

Hopefully today he realised that we weren't lacking guile and intelligence, we were lacking the experience to hold onto two leads without making stupid mistakes that gifted the opposition back into the game.

If Husband hadn't been so stupid we may have won 2-1 and Critch's subs not looked so stupid? I think I'm clutching at straws

Are we to assume Madine is looking for another club ? I know I wouldn’t be happy to see sarkic roll on the pitch instead of me. I’m patient where it comes to goals and attacking play. It where I’m not patient is the defence. Stop ** about and get 2 big experienced blokes in that understand how to defend. I’m not interested in seeing them stroll out from the back thinking they are beckenbaur, just fuckin* defend and let the other boys do the pretty stuff. Really disappointed in Husband.

That was awful - that’s a relegation team at the moment .

they’re gonna lose confidence very quickly playing like that with no leader on the pitch.

massive bonus there is no crowd - would have been brutal

I've never seen a Blackpool team look as scared as they were today, and with no fans! There were some good moments but we have too many players who look out of their depth. If someone offered me 13th now, I'd probably take it.

Substitutions killed us, 3 defensive players on for 3 attacking ones. Should have been out of sight again before we tired after an hour.

Critchley is looking a bit too stubborn for his own good in terms of having ideas that players can play roles they're clearly not up to (bez, sarkic, williams today). Sarkic being unable to do anything in 9 role in preseason against Blackburn meant we has our worst performance so far, same again when he came on today.

We were crying out for some guile and creativity from kemp and/or a bit of presence from madine.

CJ looked shot after an hour but kept using him as our only attacking option.

Maxwell looks a lot shakier than he did but not suprising with the defence in front of him. Have some sympathy for whichever 2 centre halves play though as the system doesn't offer them any support at all and either they're all consistently bad, or the system doesnt do them any favours.

Desperately need a 6ft monster at base of the midfield to shield the defence and stop us getting exposed.

Very disappointing result after a good 45 minutes either side of half time.

Cant keep being so naieve defensively and lincoln let us play our game and we still lost.

Not the time to panic yet, but its a long 2 weeks before the next meaningful game and potential league table pressure on us at that point after a blank week.

The system needs our players to be fitter and more clinical than we are for it to work consistently, that doesn't happen overnight.

Dont want to go down the route of saying we need more players but a number of players we will have to rely on at various points juts simply either dont look up to the task, or are so out of favour they won't be given the chance to.

Big 2 weeks coming up off the field and at squires gate to try to sort this out.

Sarkic should have pulled the trigger.

Husband was great throughout the game but was clearly not fit enough to see out the game. He was absolutely hanging out his aris and that’s why he gave away the penalty.

Ekpiteta is just one big mistake.

Keshi gave the ball away nearly every time he had it.

Yates was just bloody unlucky. With the right service he will score for sure.

Why did we bring Williams on??

Mitchell’s mistake to the penalty was crap but he had a very good game overall.

Turton did ok for me.

CJ was just CJ. Good signing.

Bez is out of his depth.

Robson, solid again. Top player at this level.

I don’t blame Maxwell for any of the 3 goals. He is great and doesn’t deserve such a duff defence in front of him.

Overall we played really well against an in form team. Three individual defensive mistakes cost us this game, yet again. I think we were the better side throughout the majority of the game and I still think Critchley has it right. It’s our defence that are to blame, yet again.

Unforgivable error from Husband given the game situation. Decent for an hour but ran out of steam. Not sure why Sarkic came on instead of Madine particularly as he would have given us more solidity defending set pieces.

Alnwick
Turton
Tilt
Henneghan
Husband
Feeney
Spearing
Virtue
Kai Kai
Delfouneso
Gnanduillet

This team last year beats the one today, got to toughen up

Defending was shambolic all the way through. Husband managed to recover a couple of times but always looks as though he is going to be turned. mitchell great forward today but a nightmare defending. Thought Robson was alittle bit off today. Lubala I thought had a decent first half but i would still have bought him off and stuck on Madine to add a bit more physical up front in the second. Sarkic as a centre forward is just an odd decision, in pre-season played there and was not shall we say in his element. All the goals today were directly from bad defensive errors. Still not got our shooting boots on shooting accuracy was just 18% with the amount of chances we had, the game should have been buried. their defence was possibly worse than ours. Set plays we still havent got a clue, that is making me nervous, that should be a reasonable outlet for our attackers, but we dont get the ball into a dangerous area.

The husband penalty i think is almost inevitable with how he plays, and because he gets turned. The corner for their last goal epki was being pulled by the lincoln player and whilst unbalanced the ball hit his leg. should have been a freekick to pool. But thats no excuse the defending at the corner was abysmal.

Maxwell cannot command his area. They were playing football in our 6yd box - criminal! I'd take a big keeper who can command his box over Mr agility any day.
