Blackpool v MK Dons Official Matchday Thread 24.10.20

Huge game. Must win in my opinion, anything less and it'll be a very concerning situation, unless we put in a top, top performance and just come out short.

I like the unfounded optimism.
The League table and their results against Gillingham and Ipswich suggest it won’t be easy.
I’m expecting a draw, 1-1 or 2-2. Hope we don’t get another post match meltdown.
NC needs to pick his strongest team, whether they are used to playing on grass or not. If we don’t see Kaikai or Ballard or The Viking or Woodburn or Dougall, I’m going to be less than pleased.

You can't keep losing, so on that basis a home win is due, or at least the avoidance of a defeat.

The team selection and set up is going to be interesting. What would changes and a win say? What would no changes and a win say?
I used to say that the year we went through re-election back into the old division 4, loss after loss, it can happen 🤔. However, this squad has far more depth to it, and I’m hoping, no praying that NC finds the right formation and starting 11 to put that right. If not, he quickly needs to adapt the team and his subs during the 90mins to turn games around. If you change nothing then nothing will change fcb

No idea what is going on with that line up, Ward & Kaikai in front of Williams possibly.

I'm amazed Robson has been dropped.

Doesn't look much in that midfield to help out the back 4.

Has Ward got some dodgy photos of NC or something? I guess that Robson might be a bit knackered after Tuesday and Ward is fresher.

Surprised at Robson being dropped. No idea how we're going to line up with 4 forwards on the pitch. Maybe we're going 4-2-4 like Wimbledon like somebody on here was saying 😄

At least he gives us something to think about. I have no idea if I like that or not.

Glad to see Sullay in there alongside Woodburn. Possibly Madine is a question of freshness, can't remember the last time he played three on the trot.

Very, very surprised to see Robson left out but again, could be freshness. The lad was dead on his feet after Tuesday.

That could be potentially a very mobile attacking side. Potentially.

I would've played Robson instead of Ward, though can understand that Ward had a day off on Tuesday whereas Robson didn't, and actually had to cover more ground than normal.

Looks like back to 4-3-3 with just one defensive midfielder. I presume Woodburn will drop deeper to allow Kaikai back into the side.
If we do start getting overrun in midfield Critchley needs to react before it is too late and bring Robson on.

The biggest issue for me is who will be covering Mitchell. If MK don't have any threat on their right then we should be OK defensively.
I'm guessing Woodburn will be in the mid-field 3.
I'd certainly like to see CJ down the middle but not sure about that. We're certainly lacking any aerial threat so lets not bother punting it up the middle.
Balls over the top today please and shoot on sight.

It will be interesting to see who starts wide left, I think KaiKai is good in the attacking midfield role, but I also imagine Woodburn would be too.

My guess is NC is thinking rotation with the fixture list, as Robson doesn’t deserve to be dropped but he’s played a lot of games.

I'm probably one of Critchley's biggest supporters (I'm certainly one of the more vocal supporters of him on here) but If we can't create chances and threaten the opposition goal with that line-up then he'll have questions to answer as that is 5 attack minded players and an attacking full back in the starting XI. There's also a lot of options on the bench too - in fact that's about as an impressive subs bench you'll find at this level. I'm surprised that Ward has come back in and Robson has dropped out, but Williams looked very assured defensively and perhaps Robson didn't impact the attack quite as much as Critch would have liked. Ward really does need to up his game here, Mitchell too if he hopes to keep the Left Back spot once Husband and Garbutt are back in contention.

Cant believe he has dropped Robson and Madine and is playing Mitchell. Will trust in his judgement but this is a must win game for me. His tactics baffle me

Obvious reaction is that looks like a very lightweight 11 - Kaikai and Ward in central mid seems madness to me honestly. Still, praying today is the day we destroy somebody.

Assuming Woodburn and NOT Kai-Kai will play in midfield alongside Ward as he was playing in the midfield (and impressing) for Oxford

Well that’s the team I listed on here yesterday, with the exception of Williams. Not seen the subs, but surely Robson has to be in front of Williams.

I expect Kaikai will play central.
