Blackpool v Morecambe Official MatchNight Thread 14.11.23

He had a promising start but hasn’t kicked on, I hope it’s not an indication of Critchleys coaching🤔
No one has a divine right to play in their preferred position and players need to be adaptable but…..he had a strong season last year playing in an attacking midfield role and had an extended run of games. He’s gone backwards in his time here. He should go elsewhere cos it’s doing nothing for his development under NC.

A decent watch and a much changed side. The Critchley DNA could be seen on how he wants to play which is no bad thing. Just need the 1st team to be able to execute it now and kick on.
Wait, so the system is fine if our youngsters and a few 1st team squad can beat an experienced league 2 side...?

Utter bollocks

I didn't say the system was fine just that you could see the DNA. Either way it was a half decent watch given the changes and ultimately we need the 1st team to be able to kick on regardless of system.

8 started that also started on Saturday so pretty experienced. I thought they were poor mind. Or were we good? God knows!
We sounded good for the first 70 mins. Andy Bayes isn't a cycophant. Morecambe sounded poor though. Derek Quinn sounded suicidal.

1st team squad. In which I would include Beesley, Weir, Gabriel and Oakley-Booth.

Must have good eyes.

wasnt a great game. we were playing a of youngsters who performed ok and showed little bits of quality until morecambe turned up the physical stuff in the last fifteen minutes.

but too cautious by half, when we ping it around we look decent and dangerous but too often particularly at the back and deep in midfield we piss around with the ball too much, stand on it draw in the opposition team and then give it away. i know its very fashionable with Pep and a few other coaches really slowing the game down in your own defensive third, but plaease Mr. critchley stop with this bollox. you have a fairly talented squad and give them some freedom to show that talent.

Beesley has looked sharp for his finishes, maybe he knows now he must step up as he's lost ground, he's shown bits of real potential in the past and then nothing, due to injury and loss of form.

Only a silly cup game but, it'll give him confidence and its only a good thing.
Playing up front on his own with midfield runners. Winning most in the air and flicking it on, shows a good attitude

I thought we played OK but nothing special and in the end we were holding on a bit. Lyons and Gabriel will benefit for the runout and casey looked a bit better than this level.

Its disappointing that Weir didnt boss this game given his pedigree but Beesley showed he is still a handful at this level. Hopefully his confidence improves and he can challenge for a place on the bench.

All in all we didnt learn too much and I didnt see anyone else ready for the step up just yet.

Watched the game from one of the hotel rooms and they have a really good view tbh.

I think this game was the turning point in our season.

👍👍

Thought some of the youngsters were quite good. Tharme grew into the game after a rather slow start. Miles, Mariette, Squires and Trusty all looked impressive. The game will have done them all some good letting them know just how physical the senior game is. It was great to see Gabriel back. He looked miles better than most of the others. Hope Trusty isn't badly Injured as he looks ready for the first team squad and Marriette isn't far behind either. Weir seemed to be carrying an injury for the last 20 minutes.

I continue to be impressed with Luke Mariette. He was effective in a deeper role tonight and looked good. I wonder if he might breakthrough into the squad. God knows we could do with a decent CM.

Did anyone on this thread actually attend apart from me and TTP watching from his hotel bed.😂

I was actually disappointed with Morecambe tonight thought they'd be a lot better as when we played them in the pre season friendly they looked decent.

Yep was there decent turnout TBF

I think you are delusional and suffering from some sort of covid disorder that has addled your brain. Lets hope you are right though and we can comfortably beat Shrewsbury. Lose that and we are really dropping off the pace.
It has addled my brain a bit to be honest… In fact so much so that I’d forgot about Shrewsbury and thought it was Portsmouth this weekend 😂

Even better… 6-0 to the Pool on Saturday and a week later we put it right Up Pompey 👍
