Blackpool v Peterborough BSM Semi Final Official Matchnight Thread 20.02.24

Im sorry...but Critchley got it all wrong tonight and if he gets pelters...he deserves it
a truly miserable performance. Connolly was having a mare from the third minute, should have change at about twenty minutes really. I cannot see what Norburn brings to the team at all, he's slow, he cant tackle, rarely intercepts, always needs three touches before he can move the ball to an opposition player.

Im not convinced by Coulson. doubly convinced when we have Andy Lyons, who isnt a natural left footer but still gets more crosses in.

If it hadnt been for Marv and ricky O we might have lost that game by six or seven.

maybe critchley was watching the man city game on that little screen he had in the dugout, because he wasnt reading this game at all

As bad as that penalty decision was, we've been absolute dreadful and deserved nowt from the game.

All stems from Critchley's woeful team selection, and not changing it sooner when it wasn't working. I never wanted him back but I was willing to see how he did, his inability to create any consistency this season is disgraceful - every decent performance is followed up by an awful one.

Season could effectively be over now, we'd need a great run to make the play-offs and given our inconsistency that is unlikely. As I said in my earlier post, you never know what Blackpool side is gonna show up this season, if we did make them it'd be the most nervous I'd ever been going into 'em.

I would be very happy to see us play in a similar manner to Peterborough one day . They make mistakes at the back but then they can afford to. Ferguson has put together a very exciting young team with bags of potential to improve.
This time they made us look like a pub team for most of the 90 minutes, well done to them . Now will someone show Critchley the door .

Well most of us feared the worst and it’s happened.

Shockingly one sided game we never had a sniff they could have easily scored 5 or 6 tonight.

Critchley needs to hang his head in shame for that starting 11 in fact he should de shown the door shame Sadler doesn’t have the balls to do it.
7 of the starting lineup are regular starters & the goalkeeper kept us in it so really only 3 who haven’t featured much.

It's just depressing watching performances like that. It was 0-3, but should have been more, just like last Tuesday. We can all criticise the pen decision, but honestly we have largely been awful recently and we deserved to lose. We should have played a stronger team tonight, and had a real go at them. I wish I understood Critch and his decision making. I think it's over for him though, and so it should be.

I’m not disputing that but we need a balanced side and we need our best side starting.

Why change it from Saturday? Why start with Beesley he’s obviously nowhere near match fit might as well put Rhodes on.

He’s a tinker man as well as a clown he’s fcukin clueless.

To be honest, even if we had our first team out, the outcome would have been similar.

When you can't do the basics like play the offside trap, it doesn't matter who plays. Been happening all season. The players are clearly struggling with the system and it's becoming more and more evident each week.

Kouassi did nothing when he came on. All very disappointing. Wonder what to expect against Bolton on Saturday.

Posh played well tonight. We weren’t too bad I’ve seen us play a lot worse I just think they were hungrier for it and Saturdays win will have partly contributed to that.

A stronger team could’ve been picked but honestly I’m not that arsed about the competition even though I’ve been to most of the games. It takes me back to a time when we were at a certain level and we aren’t that little club grateful for success in tinpot competitions anymore.

Ferguson on Sky ‘ getting to Wembley was a tremendous incentive’. Well done to him. Awaiting the 🤡 s comments

Really??

Lost to a far better side in all aspects of the game, they controlled the game, looked comfortable on the ball, played out from the back very well and broke forward at the right times, they should have been out of sight by half time. We lacked penetration going forward and constantly playing high balls to non existent strikers, midfield struggled to get hold of the game we had a lot of the ball but nothing done with it, i thought the keeper looked shaky at times. i thought Marv saved us a couple of times in the first half. Connelly struggled
Overall a night to forget and onwards to Saturday for hopefully three points

Agree. Where was Lyons anyway?

Not going to be too critical of a manager for losing a semi final, as he got us this far. But putting that to one side, Cheltenham mid week abysmal performance. Peterborough midweek abysmal performance. Maybe we turn in a good one on Saturday but in this division. to get promoted you have to put in 2 good performances a week to be successful, he isn't making that happen.
I would see how the season ends up and if no improvement in performance and consistency I'd ask him to leave and bring somebody else in.
Peterborough looked like they were from a different football galaxy first half and Connolly looked like he had been dug up from a primeval swamp, things need to change.
