Blackpool v Peterborough Official Matchday Thread 18.12.21

I’m not going this weekend so it’s a definite win for us. Having attended the Birmingham, Luton and Derby games I’ve come to the conclusion that I must be having a detrimental effect on the team 😏

Worst defence in the Championship have Peterborough by some distance.
Surely this is the moment for us to get back on track. If we cant score against Posh, then who and when.
I think a 1-0 win is within Pools compass.

Worst home scoring record (7) v Worst away defence (30) and worst away scoring (5)

Like you say Ballsy, if we cant score against these we are fooked.☹️

I reckon a boring 0-0

Those who are going - take a good book to read....!

....and don't forget your mask. Sleep mask I mean.

Nah, I think we'll see a reaction and win fairly easily. Neck out....3-0

He has surely got to go with two up front against the worst defence in the division? One up top just does not work!
I think he will do what he likes, that's apparent. What we all generally think he should do, he does the opposite 80/90 percent of the time.

I'd genuinely not be shocked to see him keep the same 11.

Lavery, Keogh, Yates, Dougal, Bowler, Dale, Keshi all dropped.
5 defenders, Madine lone striker.
Try not let them score for an hour then risk Lavery or Yates to try and get a late goal.

0-0 this one.

Posh are shite. If we lose this then there truly is no hope.

I would say 2-1 to posh.... but I can't see us scoring so I'm gonna have to say 2-0 to posh!

This time there will be no outrage if he changes the team. It needs it. He'll still keep inverted wingers, though, but maybe , if we're lucky, they might switch sides occasionally to confuse the opposition.

Our best team imo:

Grimshaw
Gabriel, Eki, Keo, Hubs
Bowler, Wintle, Dougall, Keshi,
Madine (if fit, Lavery if not), Yates.

3-0 Keshi, Jerry, Eki.

The defence will be told not to fart about with excessive sideways and back passing. They won't need to because ...

... the midfield will be told to make themselves available for passes from the defence instead of hiding behind the opposition. They will be told to break quickly and pass to Madine or Yates if they can, or to shoot if they can't. We want everyone trying to score goals - including our defence from our much-improved set pieces.

Peterborough have conceded 41 goals (the most in this league) and have a goal difference of minus 22 -- so they are there for the taking. We have to go for the jugular (as Brett says) and not worry about what they can do to us.

UTMP.

I'll be optimistic and say Blackpool 2 Peterborough 2
Lavery. If we can't score against this lot we won't score against anybody.

Can't foresee a dramatic change of tatics or performance, more a steady improvement as can't get worsee ?!.. so going with a 1-1 from a scrappy game.

I’ll be going with an optimistic air that we can get the 3 points. Now whether I return home with that wish granted remains to be seen. If we almost knew the result before hand it wouldn’t be exciting at all. It’s the uncertainty that creates excitement & equally nervousness & that’s what it’s all about.
2-0 Anderson + Lavery

With us struggling to score and even make enough opportunities, Lavery must start as he is really the teams only natural goal scorer. He can make his own opportunities and anywhere around the goal mouth he is more than likely to put the ball in the net. He should start every week and the others must provide the service for him. If that happens today And everyone is at it, I predict a comfortable win.

Probably a bit state the obvious but i’ll say it anyway, this a real season defining game today. Win and i think we’ll stay up and build some confidence, lose or even draw and its hard to see where the next victory is coming from.

To be fair to Critch and the team they usually deliver when the pressures on.
