Blackpool v Peterborough United Official Matchnight Thread 23.03.21

Apart from the enforced CBs, love that team, that is attacking intent.

Don't underestimate POSH, mind, would take a draw now. If we can start hard and get a goal, would be more confident.

1 -1

Delighted to see the youngsters one the bench again

Crazy how we're still capable of putting out a team that strong despite how many players we're missing.

Happy with a draw and a positive performance tonight, a win would obviously be fantastic.

If this were Wimbledon or Gillingham I’d be concerned about Turton being outmuscled all game and beaten in the air - but against Peterborough his positional sense is what matters and that’s one of Turtons big strengths.
Good point LA1, Turts for me has been consistent all season whenever he has been called upon and as you say his positional play is his strength.

It’s probably our weakest bench and team for a long time.
Going to be an interesting game tonight.

after saturday with both Kaikai and embleton coming relatively close with long range shots and both prepared to try it a few times I'm expecting a worldy from at least one of them.

I'd rather he'd started with two proper centre backs with Thorniley and Gretarrson. Then if Gretarrson gets knackered he can get him off and reorganise with Turts in the middle. As it stands, it's unlikely the Viking will get on at all. Still Turts has surprised me before, and I'm hoping he does it again.

We can win this! Our attack will take the pressure off our defence. UTMP 🍊

I always fancy us for under 2.5 goals but this game reeks of goals...think we might get a couple but so might they.... high scoring draw 2-2 3-3

Think it would be a risk to play Gretarsson alongside Thorniley so soon after coming back from injury. Whoever came in for Ballard is going to have to provide the pace, positional sense and ball playing qualities that Thorniley doesn’t really possess. May be a bit much to ask Gretarsson to do that so soon, especially as he hasn’t played a lot of football for us anyway, he’ll be playing on the right (and he’s a leftie) and he’s against a top quality Peterborough attack.
Turton makes sense for me tonight. Critch has this spot on in my mind.

Still no sign of Lubala.
I wonder what's happening with him?
Seriously out of favour it would appear.

I had no idea what the result was going to be last Tuesday, I was just convinced we were going to have to come from behind.

So I'm going bold tonight, we're going to flow. 3-1 win

No idea if its true but I did see something flash up on twatter about him being fined for bad behaviour At the training ground. Could just be bullshit though.

I'm well up for this one. We're starting with "half a loaf" but I hope we go at them. Attack is the best form of defence 👍

It's good to see Gabriel and Mitchell in the team. That gives us some serious pace in the attack. I only hope Gabriel remembers his defensive duties because Turton's not playing right back today! 😄 🍊

Hope there is no parallel to 1988 when we had a mid week with Peterborough when we were flying to automatic Promotion and Jimmy Quinn got his international call to NI. We had been on a hell of a run and never recovered
