Blackpool v Rotherham Official Matchday Thread 11.02.23

What a load of sh1te again. There's a reason football retired Mad Mick and we just saw it. Boring hoofball. Launching the ball diagonal to Bowler to try to compete to win a flick on ffs, benching Rogers again, ignoring Poveda and instead playing a kid from King's Lynn who just ain't good enough yet. Unbelievable.

It’s ok being a fan and taking over a club you love , you also got to get it right on the pitch as well , major failures for me in summer window , hiring Ben as CEO and getting appleton , a coach he disliked before he took over , he said it himself lol
plus when he announced there is no money to spend in summer sent alarm bells ringing for me
league 1 isn’ guarantee we will get out of straight away ,just look at the teams now
I hate saying this , but is Simon any better than the other lot 🤷🙈
I have always liked mick , but I never wanted him as our coach , but again like under appleton , is it the players he has , the injuries, red cards
can’t blame mick on this , can we 🤷
Yes, if we had won a couple and moved up the table he would have expected the credit. We haven’t, so he must take the brickbats.

That was pretty bad - again. its as bad as anything that appleton served up. deliberate long ball bollocks, how many long balls actually even get close to a blackpool player. we have the players to firstly not play this type of shit, and secondly given an opportunity coud probably have turned this rotherham team inside out.

im at a loss really,

He is incomparable to the other lot, they were utter trash, Sadler is just someone who had the money, supports the club and had the opportunity to buy it. I have always thought he was mad to do so and still do. I think his inexperience and need to be on the ball with his main business made him have to get an experienced CEO, sadly he employed the wrong person and I am not sure he has the money or wants to spend the money even if he has, on funding a Championship level club. I don't see the ambition the likes of VB or Ollie had, I reckon he was expecting us to be a top 6 league 1 club with a chance of promotion every now and again.

So, no, unfair to even compare him slightly to the vermin, his heart is in the right place but I'm not sure his brain is. The fact is he needs to think what he wants to do. Can he take us forward or was it a mistake. If it as a mistake, mo one would think badly of him if he looked for a buyer or even an investment partner. Personally I think he just needs to find a buyer if he can as a plan A and an investor as plan B

Can't fault the effort, but 90% of the team isn't good enough. Rotherham have come up, looked physically and technically better than us, probably invested in decent players.
They were but also equally as shite. Coupled with Wigan, in the last 4 days we have seen the 3 teams to be relegated

I saw this happening ages ago and all I have had is abuse because Sadler is the ** messiah. He isn't, he never has been and he never will be. He is a supporter who has plenty of money but absolutely no idea what he is doing, and I get that, but FFS, he's had nearly 4 years, he has had an absolute joke of a CEO eating into the clubs finances and he has had transfer fees in for Bowler and Quitchley as well as Bowler and got his money back from Wright but if you look at the players we have actually bought in on contracts they are sub standard and cheap and likely to break down, which they have done.

I knew I would be right, but didn't want to be and I said more supporters will come to my way of thinking, and that's starting to happen. What a depressing place when we should still be riding on the crest of a wave after all that happened and everything so many sacrificed.

Is that enough for you Voy? 🙃 😉
Seconded. Quite obvious since the Quitchley debacle which way we were heading.

No knee jerk comment, the player and Manager situation has been ridiculous. Most are cronks or freebies and why Mansford can't get a Manager appointment right is indicative of his skill and mindset.

I will always be grateful for the input from SS, but he got lucky with the promotion (as did Quitch), but I agree with Herts and he seems out of his depth.

If we can't beat Wigan (a) and can't beat Rotherham & Huddersfield at home, sadly we deserve to be where we are.
The board have been clueless in the signings they've made & the negative manager they've appointed.
We've got some very tough away games coming and I can't see who we can possibly beat, never mind reaching 50+.
At least I predicted that the immensely disappointed Jordan Thorniley would be determined to win MOM.
Not sure we'll definately reach 40 at this rate...

Is Ian Holloway doing out at the moment?
I dont think Sir Alex in his Prime would be able to do much. You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear as they say. The Board, the manager {Appleton} and the players are all league 1 and below standard Critchley knew this and decided to get out while he could. If we dont go down this season, unless something changes we will the next.

Following this fiasco from Uganda. We were on a small boat trip tonight and the outboard clapped out while we were surrounded ded by about 30 hippos. The skipper paddled us out of harm's way using his crocs then restarted the engine lawnmower style using a bit of old string. On this basis he sounds a better bet for managing us out of a crisis than Mad Mick 😬

I think there is still hope. I don't get those saying that we are definitely down. A lot can change in football over the space of a few games. Win one and confidence grows. We aren't ten points adrift.
Agree it's do'able, but for a start you need to put your best team out, one that suits players natural positions, and one that is positive and attack minded. I.e. everything today wasn't.

I’m going to sit on the fence, well at least until we’ve played Swansea and Stoke. We can’t keep relying on other teams to do us favours by beating others in the relegation battle, we’ve got to start winning ourselves (all common knowledge I know). MM has so far got us 2 draws (against fellow strugglers) and 1 loss (albeit against a top quality outfit). We’ve got to give him a chance to settle in, the season isn’t over yet and we’re not cut adrift from the others quite yet. Sometimes it’s easier to play against opponents who are in a comfortable league position than fellow relegation teams who are also battling to stay up.

That was typical typical, negative,'Ave it horrible football, he hasn't improved us at all, if anything we are worse.

That was absolutely awful, so much of the game in the air and no changes in the last 20 minutes.

I am so glad Thorniley, who wasn't even picked in the squad on Tuesday and our best defender has to play as MM's 2 cloggers couldn't, got man of the match. Even so our defence hoofed it all afternoon and that has to be on the instructions of the cretin in charge.

The post mortem for this season has to be aimed at the top, Sadler & BB, mainly BB to be honest, he is running this club because of his choices in managers and recruitment of players and staff in general around the team. Sadler needs to get tough and get rid of the overpaid waste of space and get someone in who will do things properly and help him learn.

A point keeps us in the mix but we haven't won in about 5 years, it's appalling and McCarthy's last 12 games in charge of Championship teams is played 12, w 0, D 2 L 10, That is a stat that tells you everything you need to know about this appointment.

We have signed cloggers for MM and players who haven't been playing and they are all out injured. Trybull looks like he will be out for months and the 2 players we signed for MA, Bowler and Rogers but they don't fit into the MM way even though they ar both game changers, Josh didn't really have a great game but the ball was in the air all game. Rogers made a difference as would have Poveda but he wouldn't swap Poveda for an out of sorts Carey.

I can't see anything but relegation, we are rock bottom, haven't got a win in us and I think we'll be down well before the end of the season.

So, Sadler...... WTF happened?
I can't argue with a lot of that to be honest

We just don't have a midfield playmaker, what would we be like if we had Howson from Middlesbrough or Barlasser who came on to replace him.
Even Rotherham played a better passing game than us today with Rathbone pulling the strings and at times cutting us open at will.

It wouldn't matter if we had Gerrard and Keane, the ball would still be sailing over their heads.

Hippos kill more people than any other wildlife.
Thought I had it bad with a cancelled flight out of Washington last night. Just arrived in Philadelphia and had a barny with a fuckwit driving like a **.
Seen results, read the comments and agree with most .
Like MM but not his style of play.
I blame our CEO complete clown.
Enjoy the safari Mark.

I really do despair with some of our fans. Those that think we need a miracle to stay up when we are only one point from safety are beyond brainless.
We’ve survived before from far worse positions and we can do it again.
We've not won in 13, put in two shite performances against two awful teams, have a dinosaur manager who's tactics don't fit the players we have, have about 10 players out with injuries, have a shite CEO who can't land any of our main targets in transfer windows, have a shoestring budget, and are rock bottom of the league.

I'm not going to slag off MM today. These aren't his players. He just has to do the best with the hand he's been dealt. Last week's team selection was poor. Today's was better, but he can't be expected to teach the players how to make chances and score goals. For me, the problem all season has been in the middle of the park. A League 2 midfield aint going to work at Championship level. All I'm looking for is a couple of raggy wins to get us out of the bottom three.

We aren’t going to stay up playing this kind of football ffs.attack attack and attack again give it a ** go for christ sake we’re running out of games.Bowler Rogers Poveda Patino ffs get em all in.Turning into a terrible appointment this.off to bed pissed off

We won none which begs the question how fuckin dumb are the players and management. Rotherham are and always have been a team of giants, we are in comparison a team of hobbits, why the fuck would we persist in lumping the ball forward only to see it headed straight back.
Spot on Victor. Sadler is an intelligent man, he will see this. Question is will he act before it's too late. Get on the phone to Ollie and get on a wild trip, if we're going to go down let's at least make it entertaining.

In the cold light of Sunday morning let me differ from your post in one respect: recruitment. I actually think it's been not too bad. Yes, we lack a midfield commander and that's important. Even so, Rogers, Trybull, Goode, Poveda and Lyons are all good players who bring something to the party. Unfortunately, one of those things is hamstring injuries.

I'm also seeing improvements in Maxwell and Dougall. Thorniley played well yesterday and Yates ran his socks off as per. However, we lack someone to get on the end of these low crosses. Hamilton, Bowler and Lyons were firing stuff across the box but with no end product.

Then there's McCarthy. Stubborn, hesitant or dismissive of some of the players who could make a difference? I don't know. Whatever the answers are he needs to be finding them quickly because the end of the runway is getting very large in the window.

Flies and mosquitos win that gruesome stat but I know what you mean.

We're about mid table League one the way we're playing. If the skills we have in the squad were put to good use and the team organised (managed) properly, we could be much better than that. The clocks ticking and really we have nothing to lose.

CJ had a good start to the game yesterday. First ten minutes he beat his man for pace and got two crosses in. One didn't beat the first man but before that he pulled one back which sort of got to the penalty spot where their guy cleared it. Think perhaps sometimes he could try and chip it a bit to the far post. Not every cross has to be along the ground. And yes Bowler is guilty of that too often to.

I wondered why most of the crosses were along the ground, I assumed they were under instructions because we had no height in the middle.

Cheers Goose. China appear to be concreting half of Africa but there are still some good parts left. Spent an hour with mountain gorillas the other day, the silverback male walked past me just 4 feet away. He would have been ideal for Big Mick's back four.
