Blackpool v West Brom Official Matchnight Thread 18.04.23

Dobbie can still hold his head high.

It’s as if we try hard but just fall short due to lack of quality. On the other hand, there’s this bizarre amount of bad luck we’ve had over the season…injuries, decisions, hiring the wrong managers…

How on earth are West Brom 6th. It just shows how bad this league is. If they had given Dobbie the job instead of MM I don't think we would of been in this mess. Over the last 3 games I have seen enough to give SD the job. I would also give Holmes a run until the end of the season and maybe a few other youth players to see how they go on. Otherwise what's the point in having a development squad.

We actually played much better tonight than we did against Wigan. Had more possession than a team in the play offs and if our finishing was better, we could have won that game. Dobbie has done well, but I think that's curtains for this season. Don't know if he is the man for next season or not. It's a big call. Can't say I trust those on the board to make that call after our last two managerial appointments.

well done the fans - there's nothing more you can do

we played West Brom at the Hawthorns - it was their lowest position in this league and our highest - they won easy 1-0 with a very late goal and I said to myh Westy Brom mate - we will swap places by the end of the season

The number of inmjuries we've had is staggering = almost 2 every match - thaty's not right

That’s what Dobbie said a couple of days ago.

If the players had the passion and performed as well as the fans we would be OK. It's totally on them, wouldn't be bothered if I never saw any of them again. Let us down badly , sick to the back teeth of this season.
Bit knee jerk . With a positive manager like Dobbie and a few key signings we'd have been fine this season. Much more fault lies with the board s short sightedness re managerial appointments and a few decent signings

Our team was easily good enough for mid table this season that it wasn't is down to the board and their shocking decisions. It's been a farce from start to finish.
Good enough team for mid table 🤣? Some people on that board, directors and past management couldn't find there own arse with both ** hands

Bad luck?

No independent probe on so many Injuries.

Hiring the wrong managers?

None misfortune.

Directors' fundamental incompetence.

The worst run club in the Championship.

So many players I don’t wanna see again
Based on tonight only ?
Got so little affection for this team. Most of them just piss me off and the dick heads who signed them piss me off even more.

I Hope half of this team and board leave and never come back!
You’ll get half your wish and half the team will go, unfortunately the ones that go will probably be the ones we’d be better off keeping !

We can make excuses about injuries, poor refereeing, poor managers and so on, but the truth is our players aren't good enough.

This is down to the Board and its recruitment policy.

Division 1 won't be easy to negotiate. Just look at the teams who've been relegated from the Championship, and how they've struggled to get back.

Next seasons going to be very tough.

Just back. Possibly the best 45 minutes I've seen from us in six months but when you can't take simple chances you are gonna get punished. Not seen it back yet but that was a terrible miss by Rogers on what seemed a tap in. And in that move didn't Jerry have his shirt pulled for what could have been a penalty. And then Keshi dragged it wide when it looked easier to score and then was it Rogers missed the other easy chance. So frustrating.

And that is why you play Fiorini. How on earth was he not playing/picked by, this is not the game for him McCarthy.
Fiorini and Patino or Connolly/Dougall.

Not at the time I'd written that he hadn't, clever clogs.

If you read my next post down the thread you will see my acknowledgement of that.
as well as we were playing in that first half, i too thought Hamilton for thirty minutes struggled to get into the game but then he started seeing much more of the ball and he finished the half really strongly. A thoroughly frustrating game compounded by the fact we never really got going in that second half but should have been two up by half time.

Makes no difference now = and they'll be sunning themselves back in the Premiership reserves next season
As soon as Fiorini was fit he should have been back in the team, everyone knew it except Mick McCarthy. He was a bigger disaster than Appleton, who would have played his better players and maybe we wouldn't be in this position

Little Blackpool mindset wins again and off we slouch to League one again for who knows how long again. It didn’t have to be this way.

For Blackpool the situation has become more stark - the defeat leaves them four points from safety, with three games to play.

However, Reading and Cardiff, the two sides immediately above the Tangerines, both have a better goal difference and could increase that gap when they are in action on Wednesday.

Played well first half, poor goal to concede.
When Keshi Anderson didn't come out for the second half that was game over, another injury to one of our better more experienced players.
I was going to say you couldn't make it up, but this season you could.

Just reading this thread I can't believe the stick that CJ is getting. He must have set up half a dozen goalscoring chances with his crosses into dangerous areas. With more clinical finishing CJ could have had a stack of goal assists.
His crosses were ok last night, other areas of his game were absolutely comical. He isn't good enough. And the amount of games he, Dougall, Husband, Thompson, Maxwell, Connolly are a core reason why we are going down. Too many L1 standard players playing Championship football.

Anderson going off meant we were nowhere near the same attacking threat second half, and also defensively weaker. Carey isn't up to it.
