Boo Hoo Britain

So you think 10 hour queues are easy access? OK..
So back to the beginning, it’s all go do with the French not bothering to turn up to work. Have you read nothing on this thread or just decided to power on through with the bullshit Brexit argument. 6 years ffs, move on.

Meanwhile, I am watching a German news programme showing families of Germans going off on their holiday season enjoying border free travel across 27 different countries across Europe.

The difference between the restricted Brits is stark.

Moving on isn't happening at Dover. Far from it, as we told you it would.

Sounds like the French crashed the system short term yesterday by not providing enough staff in the morning and we crashed the system long term before that by not listening to advice to redevelop the port with 30 million or so finance (peanuts in the grand scheme of things) to cope with the extra pressure.
I assume this was for the usual ideological reasons.

That's far too reasonable. It can't be due to a variety of reasons. It has to be either 100% Brexit or 100% not Brexit otherwise you can't have an endless repeating "yes it is/no it isn't" argument on here where the same people make the same arguments they've been making for last 6 years.

It's quite amusing to think that half the people stuck in these 10 hour queues will have voted for it.
Stitched up by the Frogs.

Should have been 14 French border control officers on duty Friday morning at the port of Dover yet 6 turned up for work.

Shame you didn’t mention that BHOK even though you knew it was the case nice one. 😉

And like me I would imagine who voted for it can’t be arsed going to France at any time. 👍

Let’s face it, they don’t like us, I’ve never felt a warm welcome when I’ve been to France, unlike Spain, Italy and others.

So now we have to hope the French have staffed enough border control officers in order to be able to leave our country?

Compare this to German families hopping in their cars to drive thousands of miles across multiple countries and former borders this summer without a bureaucratic care in the world. How we envy their freedom. Brits are now the most restricted citizens of Europe.

But they can’t cross our border without checks, or can they?

You can hop in a car here and drive thousands of miles if you want and cross borders to Scotland, Wales, N Ireland, and I know which I’d prefer.
And as regards being the most restricted citizens in Europe it’s still a surprise then that so many people from various countries are still risking life and limb to get here. 🤔
And as regards we envy their freedom do we? well you might well do but most certainly don’t.

They wouldn’t want to stay in France, it’s far too dangerous.

I can almost hear ze conversations now

’Oh, mon dieu, have you ‘eard, Jaffa la Hutte, he is not coming to France ever again’

’Oui, oui, I know, break open ze Champagne, mon ami’

And don’t forget all the other dangerous countries they’ve gone through Italy, Germany, Holland, etc.
So what you’re saying is that by leaving we have even less control of our borders? Hmm...

That response has already been dismissed by the CEO of Eurotunnel who I think we can assume isn't a hard-line Brexiteer.
In reality, this is a case of incompetency by an EU member state that negatively affects a non-member state but presumably the narrative goes along the lines 'if we hadn't had left we wouldn't be exposed to the EU's incompetency'.

Maybe it's a coincidence this occurs on the day the EU starts yet more legal action over the NI Protocol. This time it's about the UK not providing border co-operation to the EU by providing them with relevant data yet a similar thing happens at Dover and the French come up with a dog-ate-my-homework excuse about getting to work late.

Looks like there are still people out there who lap this sort of thing up though.

People saying this is down to the French are missing the point.
It used to be impossible for a french bureaucrat to delay or prevent your entry into France, or your goods, or your money.

Of course the brexit mob want us to "move on" they'd rather a spotlight wasn't placed on the massive fûckup they made.
Indeed. The French can do what they like. We have no control or say in how they operate now. It’s obvious why that is.

Usual shite posted by you the border control is in this country and then none in France so you just get through when you get there with no checks that's the arrangement we have.
If you flew it would be different.

Its irrelevant which side the booth is, we left the single market, as a result checks have increased. Multiply a 2 minute increase by hundreds of cars and you end up waiting hours.

But don't be despondent, Putin and Jacob Rees Mogg really benefitted.

Why does it matter where the restriction is? Waiting 7 hours in Dover or waiting 7 hours in Calais is still 7 hours the Germans won't have to do crossing into France.

So anyone with half a brain would increase entry booths and staff would they not?
It would be like trying to get into Bloomfield Road with 3 entry gates this is madness stopping visitors who are going to spend in your country.

Missing the point as ever with your bias would the same problem happen if I flew into France very much doubt it or do the French let everyone in from all over the world.

As I understand it they have increased the number of booths, but the French failed to man them. There’s obviously fault on both sides.

You still haven’t shown any proof that this is down to Brexit
The official explanation is that the French didn’t have enough staff on.
You seem to know different so I can only assume you have inside information from another source?

So it was down to the French to build more entry booths in Dover and nowt to do with the Brexit ready wankfest that was Johnson, was it

This, from the Chief Executive, Port of Dover, just four days ago

’The European Entry Exit System (EES), the way it's currently thought through is that it will work well in an airport, but as of now, there is no technology, no process and nothing designed for vehicular traffic in a busy ferry terminal.‘

Is it?
If you pay for a service surely they should provide one?
Didn’t we pay France £45m for policing and stopping the illegal immigrants from crossing? Yet month by month the number of crossings just increase.
Clearly the French like taking the piss out of us. 🤬

You now have a longer wait to get through customs at European airports. It’s not excessive but it’s longer. Again, the reason why is obvious and has nothing to do with the other country.

Let’s face it, they don’t like us, I’ve never felt a warm welcome when I’ve been to France, unlike Spain, Italy and others.
My auntie married a French man and moved over there, it must have been a terrible affliction being disliked by the whole of the nation. When I went to the trenches at Ypres, an area of land had been given to the British in recognition of how many of our soldiers had died there, yep they must really hate us.
I must have imagined the warm welcome I received in Barcelona and Venice (twice). As a nation we don't half have a chip on our shoulder about the perception of being disliked. Isn't is a tad immature to speculate that all the countries named, with a combined population exceeding 100m dislike us? Unfortunately it seems a popular and lazy myth over here. That level of deep thinking was tapped into hook, line and sinker by the vote leave campaign, which was hijacked by a bloke who is so lacking in principles his sole ambition was to become PM and used this as his vehicle of choice. After his subsequent accession to the throne and contined abysmal track record of lies and deceit, this is bizarrely swept under the carpet in a fervour of xenophobia.....its those horrible French sorts, EU dirty tricks blah blah blah whilst the Eton mob continue to snigger from their European 2nd homes at how the tried and trusted divide and rule deflects the plebs.

None of this is new or down to Brexit, the UK was never part of the Schengen area, border checks have always been required to move in and out of this country.

The French simply failed to provide sufficient border staff, seemingly out of spite.

Missing the point though aren't you? We Brits are now more restricted whenever we want to leave the UK wherever we decide to go including anywhere in Europe, unlike the rest of Europe who can float unrestricted over any border they like. It now means hours and hours of queues.

At airports, people have queued for hours only to see their flight cancelled due to a lack of staff whilst EasyJet can't get staff and have had to reject over 8000 applications from people who can no longer work in the UK. Brexit is restrictive and the common Brit is suffering the consequences as is plain to see.

Lol. You think the checks needed today are somehow still the same?!!!

💯 nail on head L S. 👍

Shame others don’t see the real reason for these delays.

More of a case they do but fail to admit it.
