Booing the knee on Friday

So a statement of togetherness, solidarity and respect bothers you that much that you would boo your own players ? Sorry but I really don't get where you're coming from, probably the most confused post that I've ever read on here. Watch out for the right handers that will probably come your way on Friday night !

Really? So the most racist club in the country, who you want to emulate (cos they is really ard) just happen to be the ones who initiated this vile attack on a gesture of solidarity with victims of racism. It's that simple. I'll be there applauding this gesture on Friday.
You really are in a world of your own, mate. Hope you are happy there. No, sorry I apologise, you won't be in a world of your own because there are a lot of doughnuts alongside you who also believe anybody who disagrees with the knee must also be racist.

Ooh, get you, mummies little action man.
😂 unsurprising that you wind up so easily.

In the words of Dave Chapelle, “it took us 400 years to realize that white people’s weakness the whole time was kneeling during the national anthem”.

If it walks like a duck, even if it thinks it's an eagle....

I notice one of your posts has been removed, something about the number of BLM followers after the criminal's death. I've got news for you, I am not the least bit interested in what the Americans do to each other. As far as I am concerned they have far too much influence on the bloody doughnuts in this country who like to copy everything they do.

Yes I removed it. "210,000 people have joined UK protests." I was trying not to upset you. "If it walks like a duck......" Anyway I am sure people are fed up with this exchange of insults on a football message board so I'll leave the last quack to you and look forward to applauding my team on Friday. UTMP.

You'd prefer fans to boo our own players at the start of a play off match? That should help them. I'm sure they'd be delighted.
I couldn't care less whether they take a knee, just as much as I couldn't care less if people disagree with it. I do care that the players feel the fans are behind them in an extremely important match.
I will NOT be booing our players but I will be silently “Standing Up To Support the FA “KICK IT OUT” Campaign, but.......

it will be with my back to the pitch so I don’t have to witness players “taking the knee” supporting the “Reverse Racist BLM Political Movement”

A group that threatened to attack the cenotaphs that merely honour the selfless sacrifice loss of life that our younger generations of yester-year made to eradicate the Racist Nazism and alike.

I'm sorry, I have absolutely no idea what this means, or what it has to do with BLM.

I don’t agree with their motives, I don’t agree with players being out under pressure to comply with taking the knee.
I would boo it but don’t want to boo my players at any time.
I will therefore “silently” protest against it and turn my back to the pitch so I don’t have to witness it.
If you want to support a movement that has no respect for our war dead that’s your perogstive so “crack on”

This

It's the DM but the film shows one demonstrator trying to burn the Union Flag on the Cenotaph whilst on a BLM demo.

There are lots of others telling them to get down.

I wasn't aware that I had insulted you, but "ne'er mind, eh". Up the 'Pool!

What a bizarre thing to say.

Revealing. More concerned with how he’s perceived than what he’s actually talking about. Imagine that as a retort in a debate ‘well as to your second point, not bothered so neerrr’.

Nothing bizarre about it at all, I was replying to a post that has now been deleted. And are you seriously going to deny that there are copycats who follow the Yanks in everything they do?
I can't really say I've given it any thought at all.

I was referring more to 'after the criminal's death' and 'bizarre' was being diplomatic, kids read the board so I didn't want to put '** cuntish'.

How can you on the one hand say you’re not bothered about America and on the other hand say you’re concerned about people over here copying them. Read things back before you post them maybe.

Reverse racism, eh?

Is that really a thing, and how would you define it?

Do you feel discriminated against?

Erroneously conflating footballers "taking the knee" with a perceived allegiance to BLM and claiming it is "reverse racism" seems a little muddled...

I didn't say I wasn't bothered about America I said I don't care what they do to each other and I don't like the influence they have on certain people over here.

Right. So you don’t care what they do to each other. You also think what they do to each other has a negative influence on what happens here. But you don’t care.

Now that we’ve covered ‘think before you speak’, allow me to turn your attention to ‘how not to dig a hole for yourself’

Stop trying to be argumentative. 😀

You’ve just started several debates in this thread and as soon as you can’t think of something to say you come out with that. Typical. All huff and no fart.
OK, I'll bite, explain how not caring what the Americans do to each other means that I do not care about the negative effect it has on the copycat doughnuts in our society?

I am not a monarchist. Were I to go to Wembley for the cup final and let out a massive BOOOOOOOOOOOO for the national anthem, I would imagine my argument that "there's no room for politics in football" would be greeted with very little sympathy.

What could be more political than the constitutional make up of the country and the divine right of a hereditary monarchy to rule?

But, here's the thing. There's many that do support that, which is fine - I'm not going to piss them off and seek to make a scene about it because honestly, what would the point actually be, apart from to make me look like an actual knobhead making an empty point at the wrong time?

It's five ** seconds. You don't have to applaud or anything. The whole of life is a compromise to someone's political view somewhere or other and if we really want football to be politics free, then just think about something else for 5 seconds.

Some people like to make big 'anti' gestures to big themselves up.

I thought it was great to see most of the Oxford team not bend the knee as I'm against it in the first game but I wouldnt be booing at home. Anything that helps Oxford isnt needed for this game.

I noticed at least one Oxford player didn’t take the knee on Tuesday, although sky didn’t pan out enough to see if any others did. I don’t mind it as a gesture against racism of all kinds, but not exclusively blm. I also don’t like those players who take the knee and also raise the clenched fist, that signifies something else entirely imo, black power, which has threatening undertones.

The clenched fist is a symbol of solidarity, it represents a strength greater than than the sum of its parts.
It’s been used for at least a hundred years, it was the Republican salute during the Spanish civil war, and it’s the iconic emblem of the Northern Soul scene.

I don't think any of them did from memory, our team did.

I've not read through much of this thread after the first page so I may be repeating something said already. My point is that there may well be players on both sides who actively want to bend the knee as an anti-racist gesture. What does it say about support for our players if those who want to do it feel that their gesture is derided?

Anyone that boos the knee is, as well as being thick as mince, probably a bit of a racist. Because if you weren't a bit of a racist you wouldn't mind people taking the knee.

Simple as that. Imagine booing your own players, some of whom are black, before the biggest game we've had in nearly a decade with a Sky audience and in front of our new owner because they choose to protest against racism? I can't.

There are some absolutely vile people out there to even contemplate it.
