Talk of potential legal action against Hawk-eye over the ghost goal in the Villa/Sheffield Utd game. Should they just accept the fact that over 38 games they weren’t good enough or would they be right to pursue a claim ?

No they won't win but it's reasonable to say they have been cheated out of another season in the PL because of sheer incompetence.
Is there a precedent for receiving some form of compensation from the PL? something sticks in my mind about a one off payment being made. Sheff U because of the WHU/Tevez affair?

Won’t do any good with bafoons running the premier league but every credit to them that goal and 3 points with it would have kept them up, was just a complete farce.

Sheff Utd were done up like a kipper over that one. It proved to me that money dictates what happens in the Prem, not rules.

Bit like us in the Manchester games. We didn't get a pay off.

Plus things have moved on massively in financial terms. West Ham bunging Sheffield a million isn't anything in comparison to what Bournemouth are missing out on.

Football has been dogged by refereeing incompetence and dodgy decisions whether human or technical for years. A season is played over a number of games and if you don't amass enough points because the team is simply not good enough, then you’re going down end of. Bournemouth just need to accept their fate and get on with it, otherwise we’re going to get West Germany again complaining about 'that goal' from 1966!

What's annoying with this they are singling out a match they didn't even play in the first of 9/10 games the clubs had left to play.
There's been loads of dodgy VAR decisions all over the place yet they pick out one which happened in the first half it happens but to put a legal claim is just sour grapes.

Only this time we all know the ball went over the line.

This is what happens when you make technology the be all and end all, you cant get away from it. Pictures showed the ball had crossed the line but Michael Oliver's watch/buzzer didn't go off, so he couldn't give the goal. Why?
VAR could have awarded the goal, but you can't use VAR in situations like this!!
Make your bloody minds up, if you've the technology use it or scrap the lot and just have a ref and linos it worked for over 100 years.

I think Bournemouth have a case.

Case of what beer. 😁
For example Villa had a perfectly good goal against Palace chalked off want they going to do counter sue if they went down.

If you introduce technology to make decisions and they don't and this culminates in taking part in their relegation.

If VAR was involved when we were in the Prem, that Rafael tackle may be the difference between us staying up and going down. We'd be pissed off too.

We got 5 more points than they did over 38 games and still went down. Plus they’ve spent a fortune compared to us. If they win the case, do we also get a pay off?

You can never ever let the courts decide what happens in 90 mins of play for a decision on the field or it will never end.

It seems that VAR has not solved the problem of dodgy decisions and has created controversy in terms of being offside because your boot is thicker. Time to return to good old human error.

Bournemouth have a point but shouldn't pursue it.
This wasn't about a dodgy decision like others refer to or a poor judgement by a VAR official. This is about technology that was put in place to eradicate the problem of whether the ball crosses the line or not. The technology not working on the day has cost Bournemouth millions through no fault of their own. Not Villas fault, it's technology so the EPL should carry the can for going wrong on the day. That's why I say maybe there is a case for some form of compensation , not that that will ever make up for losing their PL status.
I can't recall if the VAR official knew at the time of the incident but whether it was his job or not, common sense says he should have buzzed the ref,

That's the thing Poolseasider everyone thought that technology would solve all problems, it hasn't.
Television doesn't do the officials any help either with the likes of sky analysing anything and everything.
It's a quick paced sport, quicker the higher up the leagues you go and the officials have to make split second decisions, they will make mistakes, everyone does, and I don't think it helps when you have an outside agency making decisions miles away.

Let's get back to a ref, two linos and arguments in the pub, ahh the good old days😁

There was no VAR in 2010/11. Had there been Pool would have had home wins at home to both Man City and Utd, a home win against Everton, a draw at Villa, a win at Rovers and an away win at West Ham. I calculate that as an extra 13 pts. How can ANY Pool supporter say VAR is rubbish.
If only.....

Middxile, you are right about the decisions that went against us. However if you think VAR would have been used to change those decisions, you are very “optimistic”.

We have seen VAR used selectively to benefit certain clubs. The EPL is the only league, to my knowledge, that uses an alternative version of VAR in which refs virtually never consult their monitors thus losing control of decisions to the VAR referee.

Can we take retrospective action on our relegation from the Premier League based on all the recent evidence!

Bournemouth went down because they managed a paltry 34 points (we managed 39 and still went down) and not because of what Villa did or didn't do. Who's to say if Villa had gone 1-0 down in that game they would have then played differently to chase the game and equalised?

Just slightly off topic, I see Bournemouth have accepted a 40 million bid from Man City for Nathan Ake. It's by a long way the record transfer fee they've received for a player. And City get a decent centre half for half the price of Harry McGuire 😆
Will probably be the start of the dismantling of the Bournemouth squad. Any half decent players will be off.

You can nicely reinvest 40 million in the Championship - chances are he would have gone anyway and 40 million doesn’t buy much in the Prem.

Well that Prem league looks about right to me,Liverpool at the top and Norwich at the bottom,Bournemouth need to get over it they should of got more points to be well clear of the bottom 3 then it wouldn’t of been a problem
