Bowyer agrees deal!

Getting promoted out of the Scots Championship is something that even PNE could manage. Nothing of note in other words. Bowyer is a bottom feeder.

Neither has anyone else we were rumoured to be looking at, except Critchley.
Wellens and Wild are both younger than Bowyer, and aren't as far into their managerial careers. The ability to step up a level for those two is much more likely than with Bowyer. On the face of it, they're both more forward thinking appointments which is more likely to get the fans back on board - after this dreadful season that is crucial!

Bowyer is 11 years into his managerial career and in England has only ever got us promoted from League Two six seasons ago. He's probably close to his ceiling in regards to how much he can improve as a manger, so I'd cast doubt that he could return to England and suddenly be able to get clubs promoted from League One.

Wellens has achieved more than Bowyer has anyway with 2 league titles in League Two and an EFL trophy win (all within the last 4 seasons), and he's been managing for half as long! I'd rather us give Dobbie the chance over Bowyer, if we aren't going for the likes of Wellens/Wild anyway.

The source that's been given isn't the most trustworthy anyway, so we'll just have to see. I wouldn't mind him at the club in some capacity, just not as "head coach".

(that reply was longer than expected, apologies!)

In Debbie's last press conference, he said we wouldn't be appointing a manager until a director of football was appointed.

If Bowyer was the footballing director, this would make sense

Bowyer wouldn’t be as bad but it would be another dull Appleton Esc appointment. I’d rather it be Dobbie. Could get on board with Dobbie as his number 2.

But not good enough to be a manager?
I didn’t say he wouldn’t be good enough to be our manager because I’d like Dobbie to be given a chance. GB did a fantastic job back in 2016/17 to drag us up from near bottom of league 2 to promotion via the playoffs given the circumstances that he had to work under and I’m glad he did.

The man who got Blackpool promoted and Dundee promoted is a dreadful appointment???

Really!!!
AHH but Memphis boy lives in a world of perpetual darkness .
I'd prefer Bowyer as director of football and Dobbie as manager but....Bowyer has shown himself to be a solid manager who gets a lot out of the players he has .
We were favourites for relegation out of the EFL when he got us promoted. Takes a good manager to do that

The story has been scotched by the Gazette but were it still to happen I wouldn't be disappointed. He was a good manager for us in the most trying of circumstances and among things managed to change a lazy arse Bradd Potts into the sort of footballer he always promised to be. (He is rubbish now though of course!) We continue to watch and wait.

Why might he be deemed a good appointment by some - what has he achieved?
Not suggesting he isn't any good - but surely a bit of a 'has been'?

Look I have to declare an interest here knowing young Gary

He’s a long way from dull - however he comes across on TV, away from the cameras he’s a really good lad and funny as. The players always warm to him and he knows when to keep his council with difficult owners (Jeez he’s had the Venkys, Rapey and Neville).

We could have done a lot worse.

Let's face it, it doesn't matter who's appointed, whoever it is, some will like it, some will scream and shout and hate it, some will just shrug and accept it and some will completely implode, refuse to buy a season ticket and go and support the Nobbers.

I'm fucked off with the process already, appoint the man/woman/cabbage identifying as a cauliflower and let's get back to transfer speculation! Jesus, it's going to be a looooooong summer 😬
