Brannagan joining...or not

Lets be honest, he 100% isn't going to sign. I would bet my house on it. Its just a PR push to try and sell a few more tickets before Saturday. We will hear nothing for days and then on Monday the deal will be off.

Exactly the type of thing I expect from the club now.
In fairness it wasn't BFC that leaked this news, it was Oxford and/or Brannagan's agent.

Oxford fans think he's staying because he built a pond.

As a member of the Oxford yellows forum put it:

Reasons to believe CB might leave this summer
  • He hasn't signed the contract offer we made him.
  • He's too good for L1.
  • He should have been playing in the championship years ago, but has been loyal for longer than we had any right to expect.
  • The vultures have been circling window after window for ages.
  • He's seen Ox player after player (not as good as good as him) transfer to the Champ with big wages, big stadium etc.
  • His friends and family are up north.
Reasons to believe CB might stay
  • He's got a new fish tank.

😂

Fuck me, your misery always has the opposite effect on me. I'm feeling quite chipper this evening !

A cold, windswept early January day at Bloomfield Rd - FA Cup third round - Blackpool vs Villa, it's been a slog but the Blackpool defence have kept the Villains at bay for 90 minutes, the atmosphere is bordering on feral, a small plastic Scouse man hides behind his boss as constant abuse is directed towards him from the stands.

We enter stoppage time, the small plastic scouse man's boss starts to say how this is a good result and the replay should be easy, that moment there's a misplaced pass from the Villa midfield, a flurry of panicky passes finds the ball at Josh Bowler's feet, one man to beat, his instinct is to knock it past and run for the corner, locks blowing in the wind despite the constraints of his headband he glides past the defender and reaches the edge of the area, looking up, more in hope than expectation, to see if anyone in Tangerine has joined him, he sees one shirt, that of Cameron Brannagan, the ball is squared and instinctively Brannagan lets fly a first time punt, top corner, the keeper nowhere as the net bulges.

Up in the stands the Blackpool owner, Sir Simon Stadler, grins to himself as he watches the small plastic scouse man crumple to the floor on the sidelines, his boss spitting his chewing gum out, it lands on the small plastic scouse man's head.

'Fuck off fuckface, you little plastic scouse traitor' thinks the owner.
Brilliant stuff Lytham. The only thing you forgot was that 'Stevie G slipped on the plastic Scouse man and also ended up in a crumple on the floor....'

Tbf I'm both chipper and miserable at the same time. Fully expecting the same as Jord that they'll f** it up and it won't happen. And then there'll be a story come about it where we're the victim whilst Fat James Corden is grinning away again. But it's also been quite fun today too with the different names on the go.

Jesus, it's like a Friday the 13th movie, he's back.... and it looks like we might sign him..... until.... is this the final indignity? where he's spotted at the ground, at the frankie and benny's, inside terry's cut price carpets where even terry himself confirms it "I would bet the 20 million I just received from the club for the renewed sponsorship that he's gonna sign" only for the usual last minute turnaround.

I’d like to add my voice to the many who think Karl Robinson has about as much class as the last Karl associated with us! The way he’s treated us in the past this couldn’t happen to a nicer bloke, “There are so many things that aren’t right in my view, but I’ll just smile and wish him luck.” - that’s not smiling and wishing him luck, its a whine, followed by declaring himself gracious. You can’t declare yourself gracious, you actually have to BE gracious and let others judge! So glad we dodged him twice.

I will be very happy I this comes off, got to wonder why we've left it so late, but who cares if he ends up in tangerine!
I won't be happy until I see him holding the scarf though

This saga is doing my frigging head in 🗯️ 👶 🗯️ 👶
I've been distracted all day monitoring the BFC website for ANY confirmed sighting, and I'm back where I was this time yesterday 👿
Has CB got a wonky eye or not & if he has, why does that stop us signing him? The way our strikers shoot, I think they've all got a wonky 'special' eye 🤣

It's true, he had a serious eye problem and had to have an intricate operation and plenty of time off to recover and Oxford stuck by him which is one of the reasons he has stayed so loyal. He is fine now so there won't be a problem, but FFS get some positive news on the club site please, the waiting is doing my head in!!

Kinda pissed off that Oxford have gone public with this before he is signed up. I think Robinson would be pleased if another club comes in for him, just to piss us off
seems to be the only reason a final advert, Sunderland happy to follow our lead since we spotted Embleton for them. Fingers crossed this one sticks, quality player just what we need

The timing of the decision (assuming he does come) is certainly very disruptive for KR and Oxford.

I suppose that’s the downside of playing hardball over the price.😉

It's almost like Oxford fans have a collective point blank refusal to accept the reality that we're in a higher league. It's bizarre. We lost Peter Clarke to Southend and Curtis Tilt to Rotherham, precisely because the Championship (and championship wages) have pulling power.

They told us we needed to meet his release clause, and whinged about it for ages. And now we have, they're whinging about that too. I can't understand what Karl Robinson is unhappy about, the transfer window is open and we matched his release clause. It was always a possibility, and if they don't have contingency plans then tough. I recall when we sold Clarke, we'd signed Evatt within days to replace him, and that was on the eve of the season too I think. He can't seriously have expected a player to turn down the chance of higher league football?

No sympathy at all.

RE: The Oxford fans attitude to us, southern football fans, innit. They just don't know anything about us, seen so many "why would he go to a smaller club!?" comments my head was spinning and I had to get off twitter before I started losing my mind.

His replacement was Shaun Barker after Mullen chose Tranmere over us.
Evatt joined on loan initially a few weeks later

At least Corbeneu is now confirmed.

What about if we have triggerd the release clause and the clubs have agreed a fee and he doesn't want to come to Blackpool FC 😞

Robinson said they had tried to counter our offer and seemed resigned to him leaving. That to me suggests it's a done deal. Maybe, it's just our admins wanting to do a big reveal that is delaying things?

The last 2 times we’ve been linked with Brannagan I’ve had a look on their site and a lot of them seem absolutely clueless.
We may currently have a terrible east stand but at least we don’t have a car park behind the goal.
Maybe Brannagan wants away cause he’s sick of league one strikers smashing footballs into his car.

Think it’s safe to say it’s not happening tonight.
