Brilliant away performance at home

PB, of course you're right in what you say, but we also have to acknowledge the number of chances we made.

Walking back to the car I thought we had all of them. I've since remembered Grimm's brilliant save in the second half. But that was it in terms of clear chances for Swansea. It really should have been more than a 1-0, for all Swan's possession.

Their most dangerous situations, IMHO, was when they went over the top to the little guy up front. And while we mightn't have always dealt with him cleanly first time, we always had enough to crowd him out.

Just read that they had 736 passes which resulted in 1 shot on goal from outside the area.

I text a pal who supports Huddersfield and he said ‘Swansea just keep the ball for fun and do pretty much nothing with it’. Bang on.

Sit back, let them play their possession football that didn’t create much, score from a set piece and hit them on the break.

Not pretty but very effective.

Probs how we will set up at PNE & Rovers.

6 points off 6th with 10 to go…….
Nah back to 4-4-2 we play better that way, today was a Critch masterclass against a team which dominates possession and then does fuck all with it.

Absolutely, we created some great chances to put the game to bed. Says a lot about both teams that they had 76% possession and created little and we created 3 or 4 really good chances from the little possessions we had.

Great performance.

Swansea are a very specific type of opposition and Critch obviously chooses to play the way we did to deal with it. Not sure he will do the same for PNE and Rovers.

Hope it was a one off. wouldn't like to watch that ultra defensive style every week, it was just like the Paul Ince era when we were playing Ultra defensive. hoof it high and hard, if it comes down with snow on it, so much the better, 1970's Italian style football every week - what a bore fest that was

Only because Swansea choose to play 3 million sideways passes what you supposed to do leave yourself open.

Medical advice to myself after today. After such Swansea boring possession non-productive football if I were to watch that inertia every week I would never suffer from insomnia. Brilliant cure. But the brilliant vociferous Mighty Pool supporters would never allow me to drift off into sleep.

We had 24% possession FFS!,,,, that is embarrassing at home against a distinctley average team…

if your happy with that you can have my season ticket!,,,, boring boring boring.

He won’t Voy.
Critch is very tactically astute and despite what some write on this forum about his selection and tinkering etc, he knows exactly what he is doing. Despite bossing possession Swansea deserved nothing from that game and got nothing. One shot on target is embarrassing for them and they really do flatter to deceive.
A good test for Critch and the lads on Wednesday.
Onward and upward.

doing.

To go behind to an early goal then keep the ball like they're playing for a 0-0 draw was bizarre.
Don't think they'd have scored if we'd played till Tuesday week.
Comfortable 3 points.

Horses for courses, Critch had them sussed.

From the Swans message board at half time.

"We have had 74% possession, yet Blackpool have had 5 shots to our 1, 3 on target to our none, and 3 corners to our 1. Most importantly they lead 1 nil.

What does it take for the penny to drop that possession means sweet Fanny Adams if you don't do anything with it?

Where on earth are we heading with this style of football? Certainly not to the Premier League."

Possession means nothing without the ability to create opportunities. I’d argue Swansea were to blame for the lack of excitement today. We played it perfectly and if more clinical would have won by a bigger margin. I’m all for keeping possession but the way Swansea played today was self defeating given how we set up. Happy to watch us play like that and win.

24% possession and we had 1 on one and 2 decent chances for Bowler. Madine header saved & won 1-0.

They had one chance the whole game.

I definitely wouldn’t want a ST at Swansea.

If we’d lost 1-0 with the possession I would be thinking what’s the point of it if we don’t do anything with it?

Will probably be 9 off tomorrow
Maybe, but 9 of the 11 teams above us have played this weekend and only 3 won. Bournemouth, Coventry and Forest. The other 2 play each other tomorrow a draw would be good. And none of the 5 teams immediately below us won today.

So a very good day for us.

Nah

Lets be honest that was as dull as it comes

We didn't press high, we just let them have the ball but to be fair its 3 point's and it played out as i thought

I thought we created more than usual 🤣

We don’t often get a 1 on 1.

I don’t think we needed to press high, they are painful to watch so just them have it and used set-pieces and counter attacks. Job done.

Oh definitely a great day for us Voyeur, wasn’t trying to sound pessimistic just incase people might not have noticed about tomorrows game

It was a very dull game, but that was down to them. When we got the ball we looked far more incisive and actually trying to get on the front foot. They had spells where their keeper was ahead of the defender as they passed it between them.

absolute borefest. Would hate to watch them every week, so much possession and doing nothing, Did we play well? Didn't have enough of the ball to play well but we had enough very good chances to have come off the pitch with a 4-0 win. Take the 3 points but it was painful to watch thanks to Swansea

Totally agree watched Critch interview pre game and he new what to expect and hinted how to play against them.
Swansea's fault not ours how boring that game was.

yeh agree. Saw the team beforehand and thought oh no, only one up front down the middle but even before ko realised it was to counter their midfield by putting three of ours there, So yep, Critch got it spot on with his formation.

Great pressing but gave the ball away too cheaply as usual at times. We need to improve in that area, just to make even more chances and to kill some games easier.

Still a good win and comfortable really.

It’s a sign of a good team to be able to find different ways to win games. Today was a perfect example of changing tactics to nullify the opposition. I enjoyed the tactical battle immensely but would have preferred a more expansive game. Two successive clean sheets too. Well done to the management and to the players for sticking to a game plan for 94 minutes. UTMP

Very nice to here so many positives for the Manager even though it might not have been any where near an epic

Critch has been brilliant and let’s applaud the players - some out of bestposition and sooo many injuries

The fans - you are as important as the others mentioned above, if not more so.

A great marker for our Club and a good sized attendance - enjoy these days people - I hope we have plenty more to come

As a Jack said on their website ……..

“Once the goal went in all Blackpool had to do was defend the lead.

It was too easy for them in the end.”

Well we had one or two attacks too but fair synopsis
