BST meeting with Julian Winter ; October 2023

No I don't agree with you. I've been told that is his role and I have no reason to doubt the people who told me that.
It’s obviously not his role though. He’s been outspoken at the SD meetings, has clearly been involved in policy decisions and was a massive contributor to all of the governance stuff.

Having been on the BST committee, the role of Secretary has been hugely influential and it’s a blatant lie to try and pass it off as a purely administrative role.

I’m fact I’d say that Kev was the most influential person within BST and completely drove the agenda,

I’m not sure that proliferating these kinds of lies is useful, when people can see the reality with their own eyes… it just adds the the mistrust.

I can only say what I've been told and I haven't attended a BST meeting in over four years, and never been to one when Robbie is secretary. My last one Kev was secretary, and TBH, he did comment on matters but was mainly admin duties.
Anyway, people will make their own minds up. If you think I'm lying, fair enough.

Well you must be one of the most naive people to ever walk the planet then. Very sad, but you crack on and defend the institution at all costs👍🏻
I'm not defending anything! I'm telling you what I've seen and been told. This shouldn't be us against them. We should try and find a way to work together and move forward for the betterment of the club. Put egos aside to ensure OUR club is better for all. If that makes he naive and sad then fair enough. I've been called worse........by my Wife this morning actually.

You might have been told that, but you certainly haven't seen that because that not how it is at all. Whittaker has wormed his way in by manipulation (textbook tactic of a narcissist), and because he's also happy to write everything up (gives him control of the narrative and feeds the ego) the others lazily allow it to save them work. To be honest it's a shit show and this "youth adivisory" position they keep rattling on about shows how far removed from fans these old timers really are. Laughable

Ok

Only 1100 season ticket holders under the age of 21 seems shockingly low.

Major drive needed to improve this, to future-proof the club
Yes, I was shocked at that too.
I suppose you don't have to have a ST to attend games mind.

There's a big difference between making policy and trying to influence it.
Of course there is, but weren't not talking Government, just a community FC where meetings aren't just about the giving and receiving of information, but discussions to make the Club better.

At this level perhaps 'policy' can be replaced with decisions for clarity.

You shouldn't be shocked, it's league 1 football. There's something that a lot of you old folk miss when it comes to the younger fans of BFC. They are used to subscriptions for all and everything they use. They are not used to paying out a lump sum for purchasing anything anymore as most don't have it. The club should welcome and address this.

Also, anybody under the age of 25 has only ever known Blackpool to be a Championship or Premier League club (excepting the barbaric period under the rapist). They do not accept that League 1 is good enough for the club, and they do not accept consolidating and a period of rebuilding, it's League 1 ffs!! And why should they? Just because you oldies say "we've been down here before it's ok" is not the same reality for them. I love the fact that they kick and scream all over social media, they demand better. Simon Sadler should recognise this and embrace it, not go head to head against it. As for BST ever understanding it, you've more chance of seeing Owen knocking one out again on top of the South Stand roof. They're an ancient entity.

How old are you if you don't mind me asking?
Also plenty of people have seen us in L2 and L1. You might not like it, but you can't just ignore the boycott years. In fact, we should celebrate them for the ultimate outcome

You are chosen to be a member. There will be signs if and when it's your time. 👍🏻
The fact is that the biggest fans group isn’t represented In any way, shape or form.

The Consolidated National Union of Tangerine Supporters (CNUTS) - There are hundreds on this forum that don’t even get the time of day at fans meetings. Sort it out Muckers and SLO 😀

You seem to be describing a bunch of spoilt brats who think the world owes them a favour.

Sounds like a reality check is in order…

Step up to the plate etc…

Maybe you should give one of these away with every Membership

I don't usually get involved in these threads as it usualy descends into pointless bickering about influence etc.

I'm not that interested in either group, however both have their value.

As a North stand ST holder you've got to love the atmospheres and the MSG play a role. Although the atmosphere has been very poor by our standards this season, we need to get over it and get back to our best.

I'm sure the MSG do good but clearly some of the social media stuff put out needs to be more professional at times.

However, many youngsters like what the group brings, so the club should really embrace all views, which it did and try and maximise it's reach to fans.

Just like they should listen to those not affiliated with any group, which I believe they do to as individuals representing only themselves have attended past meetings or posed questions. No one yet seems to know what they're doing going forward, so maybe wait until we find out...

We need to stop this bickering. It's not a united fanbase right now and to be successful it needs to be. We all have the common goal of BFC and to me that's way more important that any group.

The Oystons are long gone, let's move on.

When the fans and united and on form it drives the team on and the atmospheres are intimidating. Let's get it back.

Sounded to me like 9000 fans chanting Neil Critchleys tangerine army at the games?
Watch the videos of the north stand in unison.
Even the end of the game joining in the fist pump.

I’m sure there’s a small group refusing to enjoy those moments for some weird reason, as they’d prefer to see the manager fail as he wasn’t their choice.
There’s not many near me in the South singing his name mate, myself included. As for the fist pumping it turns my stomach so instead of letting it wind me up I usually leave as soon as I have clapped the players off the pitch

I agree the club should do far more and we seem to have got excuses for not being able to offer better payment plans etc, when Fleetwood or other clubs managed it.

I've always been vocal about pricing, payment methods and the easier and cheaper you make it, the more fans we'll get.

There's still loads of room for growth and much more to do on this front.

There’s not many in the South that sing full stop though is there?

It’s developing along the same lines as the West tbh…

I understand that Mos. It’s a pretty loud support for him in the north these days though. I think the kids don’t give two about him leaving and returning just that we are back on the up again.

Good point Phil, because of work I'll attend just 7 or 8 games in the Moretti lounge, my minimum spend will be £252. Add on the extra I'll spend on refreshments and my Tangerine TV subscription and I'll be spending much more in support of the club than many early bird season ticket holders.
I didn’t realise early bird season ticket holders don’t upgrade to the Moretti, buy refreshments, have tangerine tv subscriptions etc 🫤

Yep the majority get the game.

He's left, he's back, it wasn't ideal, it's football .It wasnt how he would have planned, he regrets it, apologised, let's move on. It didn't mean he didn't like it here or didn't have a real bond with fans.

Some of the upset people don't seem to get that upset when a player does similar and some act like they were in an actual relationship with him.

It's all part of the game.

I'm his jilted lover 😁

Unfortunately we’ve got more than our fair share of bitter old grumpsters and they’re not going to let an opportunity pass them by to have a moan.

It’s like a bloody disease once you get over 45 and slowly but surely you see your formerly ‘happy go lucky’ mates start to resemble Victor Meldrew.

The pub conversation used to be about Women and Lads holidays… Now it’s about the kid who keeps kicking his ball against your wall and the neighbour’s dog who keeps peeing up your gatepost.

You have to fight against this shit or it will eat you alive👎

Just Say No to Grumpsters 👍

I think everyone should ask themselves what type of personality would belittle a supporters group formed to remove horrific football club owners, mock their protests, ridicule their ideas, portray themselves as the voice of reason on the message board at the time to then years later become the secretary of the the said supporters group…

What type of person would think that was fine to do and what type of person would want to do that?

I think when you work that out you’ll work out why some of us think it’s completely fuckin bonkers.

My wife informs me that I turned into Victor Meldrew at 30 so I was ahead of the game!

It's always been an inclusive club. It's you and your ilk that like to think that only your say so on inclusitivity goes however. Times are changing, and you old fuddy duddies need to keep up. The world of social media has passed you by unfortunately. You think this site provides an overarching view of Blackpool fans, when in reality it's laughed at from most.
Me and my ilk? Hey everyone, I've got an ilk! Apparently we're what some twerp calls 'fuddy duddies'...whatever those might be. Anyway, it appears that we have to keep up - is that like keepy up?..I once did 130 of those in my back yard, ever so proud I was. It also appears that we have a great view. So great in fact, that it's overarching....(sings)..."over-reach the arches..." That was Cannon & Ball I think (?) either them or two other chaps who sang in wars or summat? No matter, it seems to keep the young 'uns happy because (I'm informed), they like to laugh a lot. Right Mable, get that wireless on. Winston's making a speech tonight.

Christine, can BST rethink the name “youth advisory board”? I’m sure it makes sense within a framework agreement but when I was a young supporter I wouldn’t have wanted anything to do with something called ‘youth advisory’.

If the Muckers are selling their brand on Twitter (Facebook is a bit old older generation) or even TikTok / Insta then they’ve tapped into the zeitgeist better.

The plan is for the young people involved in this to take the lead, so absolutely. This is just a preliminary stage to get things up and running. 👍

130 is about my record too. As proud as I was, it was somewhat tempered reading that Pat Nevin could do 10000 by the time he was 8. Or was it 1000....I'll look in the book later.

It definitely needs a catchy name, an acronym.

Young
Outstanding
Blackpool
Supporters

Maybe? 'What do the YOBS think'...

Actually no, probably sends the wrong message, back to the drawing board. 😔

You could maybe go with…

‘Benny’s Mob Supporters Group’ 👍

No I don't agree with you. I've been told that is his role and I have no reason to doubt the people who told me that.

GJJW

You are under no obligation to agree with me but the BST secretary is certainly not "only helping out from an admin point of view".

The people who told you otherwise are not aware or are telling untruths.

It is a united fanbase. All of this is between 2 people that use the MSG Twitter, the SLO and a handful of people on the BST committee.

Nothing to do with anyone else other than that handful of people. No divides, no splits, just the delicate egos of a handful of people who like the limelight and want to be noticed.

And a great source of amusement for 99.99% watching them squabble.

I think this is the problem @Chunkylad. BST are trying to do the right thing by encouraging input from younger supporters, but I read that the same as you.

I have a vision in my head of the type of ‘youth’ that BST will attract and unfortunately the profile is going to fit into the ‘nerdy anorak’ types. Of course, it’s important that those kids have an voice too, but it’s not really representative.

I honestly can’t see how BST might develop into that area. In fact in many ways a closer working relationship with the MSG might have been a sensible way forward really.

It’s a real shame that these two groups can’t find a way to work together for the greater benefit of the Club. In many ways they compliment each other and could draw the best out in each other.

All very nice x3 and I'm sure you mean well and no big deal but I'm sure BST don't really want to work with the Muckers and the Muckers don't really want to work with BST regardless of what either might say.

It’s not always about what we want though 2020. Sometimes we need to step back and do what needs to be done and do the right thing 👍
