Burton Albion v Blackpool Official Matchday Thread 26.12.23

Don’t want to be too reactionary, but this team and squad on paper is better than the last time we went up and for us to be in this position so consistently is nothing short of shocking.

And it’s all too predictable too, win easily at home, fall flat away against sides we should be beating.

I get wanting to respect opposition, etc, but Jesus Christ we’ve got Karamoko Dembele, Jordan Rhodes, Andy Lyons, and Ollie Norburn in our side we should be turning teams like Burton over.

Still time to turn it around though, biggest half of the season coming up next.

If we don't win today we'll be 5 points off the Barnsley in the playoffs and chasing a side with 2 games in hand and they are very unlikely to not win at least 1, as 1 is Carlisle at hhome and they looked shocking.

7 points off Stevenage as it stands, who have played the same number of games.

They’re shite these. I can see us overcoming them in the second half.

However, having won the last game, and it being boxing day, it would be very ‘Blackpool’ not to!

I wonder if we practice offensive attacking moves in training ... it doesn't look like it.
Agree with American - we're so bloody predictable, and bang average in execution.
That said - let's score 3 this half.

I thought that, but we brought in exceptional loans which took that squad to a different level. Ballard, Simms and Embleton would all walk into this current team. In addition we had Jerry who was awesome in league 1 that season…not just a goal scorer but so much more

We're just not imposing ourselves like we do at home, we don't even seem to try and play the same way.

We did early season, like against Lincoln but with nothing in the final 3rd, but at least you're dominating and when we do that now we would create more chances.

It really is poor predictable stuff.

Endless soft fouls too. All helping to totally waste the first 15 minutes of this half. I honestly have no idea what tactical changes Critchley has asked for at half time. He's sleepwalking us to mid table.

To coin a phrase, bearing in kind the strength of this squad, he’s not getting a tune out of them isn’t Critch. I just don’t think he has that killer instinct in him. Comparing the previous incumbents is ridiculous, but he’s not good enough.
