C.J

hes in their penalty box having just beaten their full back and put a ball across, thirty seconds later hes in our own six yard box cutting out a dangerous chance from them.

Ill stop short of saying he was very good because there is still room for improvement in areas but I thought he played well and hes more convincing for me down the left hand side. It allows him to instinctively put the ball across without having to stop adjust his right foot and lose all that space hes created for himself with his pace. He seems to like playing the cross either flat across the six yard or slightly cut back so its important we get a man to the near post and somebody just sits slightly back from the six yard for the cut back.

Hes the perfect project for Critch hes got some of the attributes of a top athlete but there is room for a coach to improve him in the right areas. Still excites me when hes on the ball.

If he can build on this he could make a valuable contribution but I should point out that our goal was not from his cross,it was his shot that came off the keeper and Lavery did well to place his shot in an unguarded part of their goal.

Ill stop short of saying really good. 1st half I thought he struggled to get into the game but second half he grew into it and played well. I'm not going to say he is going to become a first name on the team sheet but he certainly showed he can contribute if he can keep it up. We'll done CJ 👍.

Needs to get a bit of aggression into his game. Seemed very timid at times and was easily muscled off the ball too many times.

In his favour, he still has blistering pace and needs to just get his head down and use it. I also liked his willingness to cross it low into the penalty spot but again I’m not sure if this was with conviction?

Better than last week but will need to improve a lot yet

Some players come back from injury and find their form straight away. CJ obviously isn’t one of them but when he is fully match fit he will hopefully find his form from last season.

Perhaps in hindsight I should be less harsh on Josh. My expectations are higher for him than for CJ! 😅

They were both good today. My main criticism of Bowler is he isn’t involved in enough goals, for all his great touches. Clearly some of that isn’t his fault, if strikers are missing chances etc.

CJ did well in patches today, he needs more games to get the best out of him.

Bowler on the other hand was pure class, possibly his best game, and added a couple of £mil to his value for me.

I’ve said it before - we need to stick with CJ.
Once he’s fully recovered 99% of defenders can’t live with his pace. NC needs to teach him how to pass to himself by dinking it over the top or beating the opposition over 20 yard dash.

First half no one passed to him or played him in. 2nd half he was much more involved. Pleased for him.
Think the team need to get used to playing with a left winger again rather than Keshi who cuts in a lot. Thought in the first half we missed him and could have done with his movement to give Dougall and Connolly a passing opportunity.

He might try Anderson's trick of turning side on to the ball and passing it forwards to himself.

My mate turned to me 2nd half and asked if CJ was playing 1st half. He was certainly more noticeable 2nd half but for the goal Bowler was screaming for a pass in front of an empty net. CJ tried a shot which came out to Lavery facing away from goal with a lot of work still to do. He was better 2nd half but not on a par with Bowler though Josh did seem to have more support and link up play with Dujon than CJ had from Garbutt.

Not for me I’m afraid. He’s not got the intelligence for Championship football, he’s ok as a substitute but not a starter.
Sometimes I wonder what you know about football and why you actually bother to watch it . If indeed you do watch it. Each week , win or lose, you just seem thoroughly depressed by the whole thing . Would love for you to completely surprise us by writing an upbeat , positive post sometime . Prove to us you can .Go on , you know you want to .

Put in the cross for the goal and 3 more crosses in the second half that could have resulted in goals, well played lad.
Yep, many on here said he wasn't good enough bit he showed glimpses and hasn't had a run in the side yet.

An asset if used correctly 👍

CJ was brilliant today. He's much better playing on his natural left side than trying to be an "inverted" winger.

There was one time when he was running for a ball against their right back - CJ started a yard behind and ended up with the ball a yard in front of him - talk about afterburners! Their RB had a go at some of their players after this and seemed to be saying, "FFS, gimme some help with this guy!" 😆

Teams already know to put three defenders onto Bowler on the right wing. If they have to put three on to CJ on the left wing that'll leave some massive spaces down the middle for our strikers to exploit! 🍊

I was seriously impressed with CJ's showing today, easily the best he's been since his first injury. What about Big Gaz's sublime control and through ball to slip him through for the chance that led to our goal though? Vying for best moment in the match, alongside that bit where Old Blakey blocked one with his arse and Bowler's moment of trickery where he beat about six of their defenders Pat Nevin style.
