Can any fan accept defeat without blaming Ref or some other factor?

There seems to be an inability amongst football fans of all clubs to accept defeat of their team nowadays and accept that they deserved to lose. It’s Always the Ref or some other factor that is the key factor and without that their team would have undoubtedly triumphed.
Furthermore it’s always flavoured that it’s deliberate, part of a plan, a conspiracy against their team….if it’s a smaller club then the authorities favour the big clubs. If it’s a big club they’re the one big club that’s hated by the authorities

Liverpool fans as one small example cited the disallowed Diaz goal at Arsenal as evidence of corruption and anti Liverpool officiating bias ….when the recordings came out it was clear it was a total incompetent dozy cock up …a shitshow for sure but the officials involved clearly showed they would be incapable of an intelligent con

I find it quite poor immature thinking tbh and a distraction from looking at one’s own team and their strengths and failings……they’d always win, occasionally draw and never lose but for “the man” sticking it to them……it’s pure bollox isn’t it?

There’s always a scapegoat…

Today’s reasons for losing are … (in no particular order)

Critchley (and his cowardice) 🙄
The Referee
Oakley Boothe (He’s not ready to start games until he’s gained more experience - work out that conundrum)
Searches on the Turnstiles
Dembele should have started (reverse that next week if he starts him and we lose)

I’ll give you a nudge tomorrow evening Blood when City put 4 past United 😉

United are shite. A club run by incompetents as regards making the team a success…..no one can wind me up as regards Utd….I’m like Eminem in his final rap battle mate in the Movie 8 Mile…..but I don’t think Utd lose because if bad corrupt decisions
But they've won games because of bad or corrupt decisions as anyone that watched us in the Prem can confirm! 😉

Did BFC a favour then as Oystons would still be here with the extra money from another Prem season
I expect Uncle Val would have eventually taken him to the cleaners no matter what happened that season, but relegation, for me, was a blessing. I was one of the few celebrating after our defeat at OT on the final day, the greed league isn't for me, nor do I think it's a place for a club like Blackpool!

The ref was shite today. I think the players thought the same as two were booked for dissent after questionable decisions.

No excuses though, we weren't good enough today.

I have not seen one post blaming the referee for our defeat. I have seen a lot saying he was a ** which is right, he was.

I think you will find that others have been blamed as well as the ref . Which include Critchley , Carey and Oakley-Boothe . Yesterday I blamed Critchley for his team tampering , and although I have blamed ref's on odd occasions in the past . I thought we were second best and that was because of team tampering .

I think Critchley likes to rotate the squad and rest players for a game or two. I suppose that comes under team tampering and it's costing us points wise imo

If it’s just to rest players then why is Cj, Grimmy, Rhodes or Husbands not rested?

The squad rotation is just random and you just get that gut feeling we’ll struggle as soon as that team was announced.

Pennington to Casey to Husband.... long diagonal ball to Kouassi who isn't good enough... Peterborough win possession back.

It was embarrassing to watch.

The ref got blamed for South Africa winning the rugby World Cup last night!!
To avert your teams inadequacy always blame the ref😉👍🏻

I think the nature of football support has changed over the last 20 years. Many now feel success is priced in with the season ticket, when the fact is that of 92 clubs only 10 or so will achieve their aims each season. There’s a real sense of entitlement, especially amongst a section of our support. Wider society being reflected through sport I guess.
On the subject of ref’s, I do believe the standard is poor and getting worse. That’s not the reason we lose games, but it does take away from the enjoyment of watching a football match. The reason we and other teams lose games is almost always that the opposition have better players.

I can accept both home defeats against Derby and Posh. 2 decent teams (theatrics aside) who were clinical. Yes, the officiating helped them but in yesterday's game most of the big calls he probably got right. It was a penalty, it was a red. The only one I'm not sure on is the alleged CJ drag back, from the North I didn't have a clear view. The officials were sh1t in the Championship, we should have all realised they don't get better in the division below.

Got beat by a better team who played their best players in their best positions,
In my opinion that sort of helps you win games.
If we'd kept 11 players on the pitch, I'm not even sure we'd have gone for it like we did.

Or they have players on a par with ours, but are coached to move the ball forwards.

I thought the ref had a shocker yesterday but Peterborough deserved to win overall. They looked a v good side in the 1st half especially and were clinical. 1 chant I can't stand is 'we only get shit refs'... cringeworthy and if I was in the away end I'd be having a reet good laugh about it.

Correct but it was partly down to the fact that our midfield is simply not doing its job week in and week out.

Just watched the free kick again and our lightweight wall was bullied by Peterborough players who dragged out our players. That was a costly error all round.

We were beaten by a better team today. The ref wasn't at fault, it was a penalty and Casey was rightly red carded. He missed some fouls on players of both sides, and had quite a few 50/50 calls to make, which always annoy you when they go the other way. No excuses.
Watched the Casey sending off back and thought the red was harsh. Pennington was in the penalty area and would have covered Carey's mistake. I can see why a red was given but for me it's the inconsistency by refs of their interpration of the rules. I'll guarantee you that 5 out of 10 refs would have settled for a yellow.

suggest you have a look at the screen shot at the time the foul was committed. Pennington was NOT in the area and was far enough away from the foul that the striker could have comfortably got his shot away.

Fair point but look at in real time. Pennington was across pretty quickly. My point is more about the inconsistency of referees. I maintain lots wouldn't have given a red.
I've yet to see the CJ incident back, which was right in front of me, but in real time I was incredulous that a foul was given against him. The ref was just very poor but I do agree with everyone else that we were beaten by a better team.
Other than their shithousery I was very impressed by Peterborough. By far the best team we've played so far this season.

I was thinking of this thread watching the Manchester Derby as City dismantled a poor United team.

After the game it was all about the ownership, the structure etc.

yeah, i said at the time i thought it might have been only a yelloe but seeing it back in real time and that screen shot, the ref got it right. The CJ incident was at the other end from me and I've not seen it again so I don't know if he got it right or not. Agree the ref was on the whole very poor and they must have had a dozen players going down mainly feigning injury as well as the ref allowing them to taunt our fans by celebrating two of their goals right in front of out fans but i'm clutching at straws really.

Husband didn't play midweek.

Screenshots are for VAR. Fortunately?? we don't have that but like you say clutching at straws.

Good o/p. The worst type of football fans are those that are so biased towards their own team they can't accept reality. How many times have you heard 'fuck off lino never offside!' when they clearly were by about 5 yards, or something similar.

The best referees are hardly noticed and hardly book players.
I think some refs but not all want to be top of a league table of bookings, or at the very least the centre of attention.
They are human and make honest mistakes, but the fact they rarely acknowledge those mistakes causes a lot of friction.

Again thought “you think”……..so I assume if we got a league table up of Refs who have made most bookings you’d say that’s because they want to be top of that league table?…..I’d say that’s likely to be utter nonsense and that you have zero evidence of that. If a Referee went out to deliberately book players without due cause he would get into problems quite quickly

About 25,000 times

Yes. We were wasteful against Wigan, similar to how we were against you guys. Nothing to do with referees, just simply not having the cutting edge despite the possession.
