Cardiff v Blackpool Official Matchday Thread 19.02.22

Didn't see a thing today due to ttv, but disappointed to take the lead and not be able to keep a clean sheet or score more.

However a rejuvenated Cardiff side and us using the squad, not a bad result.

But we need to work on holding leads and making that next step up better possession etc.

Question for our fans who attended.
On Lancs it sounded like their goal was a bit like the Bournemouth goal in the six yard box. Are we not commanding that area? For me, a goalkeeper has to say that any play in the six yard box is his to grab. He should command that area, even against his own players if need be.

Not Grimshaw’s fault at all. Looked like a mix up between Marv and Sterling to me. Sterling’s man but Marv got dragged out by the striker. Weird goal really.

You know what - I'd say thats Grimshaws only weakness. Knowing when to command the area in that 6yrd space

(Sic) indeed. Must have been half cut when I typed that user name.

I dont. Draws aren't good enough for what?

A play off place - is that what he means?

If so - is challenging in this division not enough for him/her
The way I see it, we need better strikers. That way we score more goals and puts the opposition on the back foot. However, a point away from home ain't bad. Cardiff did for Coventry and, in that context it's not a bad result. Yes, I agree that we need to go for the win; that's the Blackpool way. But, I wouldn't be getting tart with someone for being satisfied with the draw.

Just got home so missed it all today. Sounds like a pretty even game from reading all the posts. Not a bad point at Cardiff, we are completely safe so may as well just go for it the rest of the season and give all the players a chance.

I see Sunderland lost at home again, looking forward to tonight's vlog!!

Tricky game as we dominated the first half while Cardiff edged the second.

Should have had a penalty, but Cardiff have been in good form recently so a point away isn't bad at all.

At this point in the season we're too far away from the relegation zone to be worrying about that and Playoffs is out of reach too so the most important thing now is player development; it was nice to see Kirk get a goal involvement and play well today, he looks like he has a bit of an edge to him.

Would really like to see Beesley get a start pretty soon.

Sorry '66 am I missing the point here?

He says - Draws aint good enough

I say - Why

You say - Dont be harsh

I say - we should be satisfied for our first year and improving performances with 8/9 1st choices out of the team.

OR

Are you agreeing with me?

I'm getting totally mixed up here. Away draws are acceptable. Prefer the win but I'll take the draw. Sorry Rhythm.

not a great second half to be honest, think we missed Dougal, somone to put his foot on the ball in the middle of the park and settle things down. saying that cant say either stewart or connoly had a bad game it was just a bit too hurly burley in the mddle of the park. strikers got very ñlittle service today at all. I thought Jerry was making a nuisance of himself in the first half, In general just too many long balls to chase down.

Ref was generally anonymous first half but decided in the second half he wanted to be noticed. Absolute clear cut penalty, a deliberate push by wintle on bowler two handed as well.

on balance probably a fair draw but we should have been out of sight by half time frankly. I would say credit to Cardiff for getting back into it, but they do still seem to revert to an awful lot of needless shithousery

I wouldn’t swap Ekpiteta for any other centre half in the Championship.

Something really needs to be done about the refereeing at this level tho, it’s actually embarrassing every week. People have paid a lot of money to travel in the worst weather in years to see a potential match winning penalty not given there.
And he booked Bowler for diving 😡 effectively nullyfying any defensive cover from him.

It was down the far end but looked bad defending and the cross should not have been allowed to come in. Don’t think you can blame the keeper in any way
