Good afternoon, congratulations on your promotion (obviously helped by two ex Carlisle United players !)while we continue to drown in mediocrity, pitiful owners and another year of false hopes and dreams, come August though the optimism will be back.

This might seem a bit random, but I am coming down to your lovely seaside Mecca in a couple of weeks for the weekend, I’m coming with my 3 daughters and grandson who is 5. Doing the normal stuff, mainly the PB and stuff like that.

We are staying in one of the premier inns, one nearest the PB, can you guys help out with some recommendations of nice places where we can get a good breakfast, and evening meal.

Doesn't have to be fine dining but also don’t want greasy spoon and wetherspoons. Girls are in their 20s, somewhere comfortable, nice food and atmosphere, particularly for the evening meal.

Really appreciate any suggestions guys, thanks in anticipation.

Drive in to St Annes. There are several good Indian restaurants, two good Italian restaurants and a brilliant Thai next to Wetherspoons . Plus others . All within easy walking distance of each other

Do you want to travel a couple of miles while you’re here? If you do then the better places to eat are probably in Poulton and Lytham 👍🏼

If you have use of a car , I would head to Lytham , plenty of good class restaurants there, also Eagle & Child at Weeton, worth a visit .

Thanks so much guys, the Italian sounds great, I would consider a drive as we will have the car, but ideally staying in town then we can have a drink. Any breakfast places if possible ?

Much closer to you and a place with very good restaurants is Highfield Road - it’s known by locals and few tourists.

It never used to be, but over the last few years it has had some great restaurants open on it - and as there are a few - competition has pushed up quality dramatically.

I would personally recommend …..

Italio
Winstons for drinks or for an old fashioned boozer the Farmers Arms.
Blue Diamond (Jonathan Woss thought it was the best Indian ever)

Also try Ambrosinis at Star Gate (this is a wow)

If you are not driving then Lytham, St Anne’s and Poulton are a bit of a trek.

I would also advise to book.

As Cumbrians are known to love sheep try Sal Monella kebab joint or Taffy Jones Welsh diner. Both conveniently situated near the town abattoir in Nackers St.

Agree with this - Topo is great too

I know you said not a Wetherspoons, but your about 30 seconds away from one on
the promenade and its massive, The Velvet Coaster

The air balloon next to the airport, only pub food, but not bad, and the 5 year old lad can go off into the play area and give you a bit of peace for a couple of hours.

I think your girls would enjoy West Coast Rock diner. Its in the main square (St Johns) just outside the main entrance for the Winter Gardens. Not exactly fine dining but they do good burgers, steaks that sort of thing. Decent atmosphere for the younger ones.Something you should try whilst youre here.

Great Fajitas as well 👍

Drive down Queensway (Squires Gate lane then turn right) Miller and Carter Pub about a mile down on the right. Great food a little bit on the pricey side though.

Just offer to babysit for a night and the offers will fly in to take your daughters out.
Oh I’m sure they would !! It’s not such a bad idea actually as the 3 of them are as tight as two coats of paint (I nicked that off Keith Richards about Mick Jagger) so would save me some money

They would enjoy this place I think and so would the little fella. When googling, it’s west coast rock cafe, same place ?

Heritage coffee shop on Lytham rd a short walk from where you are staying is excellent for breakfasts. Further afield but book before you arrive on n town, the Briardene hotel in anchorsholme does the best Sunday lunch in the world. The Armenian kebab House is world renowned and not far from your hotel on Harrowside.

No argument over the Armenian Hazi, but I reckon Twelve is hard to beat for Sunday Lunch?

There is a train from the PB to Lytham (and St Annes) so you don't need to drive- only takes 5 mins to St Annes and another 5 to Lytham. St Annes has a good beach, a pier and loads of eating places. Lytham has a green on the front, a windmill on it and a huge Cafe culture set around a square. Both are a huge up from Blackpool.

Have fun!

In town there is a great Pizza place called Stefanis. And next door to that is a really good burger place called Pastels. Both have websites you can book a table (recommended)

The Eating Inn on the prom is quite near you. Can eat out facing the sea front. Good home cooked steak meals etc .

Breakfast - excellent food at Ziggys a cafe in Blackpool centre, Cedar square. Low prices, very clean service excellent.
Enjoy your stay 👍

As others said west coast is a good shout, and never been but pastels looks good.

Also in town you have the bank bar and grill which should be great.

Hauze is a great restaurant in the centre and would defo recommend it. Plenty of options in centre if u ask me.

Also Jamie's on Highfield Rd if you like your Tapas.

The Paramount is across the road and used to be the best Chinese in Blackpool, not been for a good few years mind.

In fact you could do a lot worse than just stick to Highfield Rd. If you like your takeaway drunk kebabs there's also an excellent kebab shop just up the road on the hill but no one mentions it much...

No need to travel to Lytham, Blackpool has some great spots. Stefani's do the best wood fired pizza around in Cedar Square and around the corner is the Brew Room (where BFC was founded) which has a micro brewery on site and has plenty of quality guest ales.

Stanley Park is great too. Voted UK's best park twice in recent years and it seems to go unnoticed by most tourists so it's not been spoilt (so dont go telling everyone ;) ). Not far from the park is No.10 Ale House, a micro pub which serves great Thai food.

Blackpools best parts are usually hidden.

A lot of the Highfield Rd type suggestions are great for locals, but not really a holiday weekend.

I mean would you really travel to Cleveleys for a Sunday lunch from the PB area? No, you wouldn't.

For breakfast surely you'd use the Velvet Coaster next to the Pleasure Beach. Will be quiet in the mornings and cheap as chips. You can't whack a Spoons breakkie for the cost.
Heritage coffee shop on Lytham rd is a cut above a spoons and a stones throw from where he is stopping.

Can definitely recommend Highfield Road as it's close to where you're staying, as people have said there's some brilliant bars and restaurants, Topo do the best burgers in town, Winstons is decent, Paramount Chinese is terrible though and Baby Kingfisher is a much better Indian than Blue Diamond. Although not on Highfield Road, Ambrosinis is an excellent little Italian and only a 5-10 minute walk away near the tram depot.

If you want to go slightly further afield from where you are staying for food and a couple of beers there is a really good train service.
Platform near the pleasure beach and the train goes between south shore and Preston.
St Anne's is about 5 minutes and Lytham 10. Usually you don't have to pay!! Lytham train station is a pub and the last time I ate there it was value for money.
