Charlie Patino to sign?

This one looks like a goer and hopefully he is exactly the type of player we need, unfortunately I'm still scarred by TJJ to get too excited about an Arsenal 'wonderkid'.

Everything is crossed for the official confirmation from BFC.
I'm not a lover of the loan player system, but I accept that's the only way clubs with a limited budget can significantly improve their team - albeit short term. At least a full season loan gives the player a good chance of settling in at the club.
It's obvious MA is respected by the PL clubs, and this was no doubt a big influence on the boards decision to give him the job and a long contract.
MA is doing a grand job so far and I really like him 🍊

I'm slightly worried. The lad is so young , undoubtedly talented . He says himself that its a massive step up from under 23s to playing with men. Hes not the biggest of lads and maybe a lower league loan would have been better for him whilst he develops physically. I so hope I'm wrong .

Still has our stringent new medical process to navigate his way through. 😬

Different for loans I'm sure. Especially Messi-esque ones.

That Messi fella is huge!

I remember the buzz when this lad scored on his Arsenal senior debut!

A very exciting signing this if we can pull it off and one I can't wait to see play in tangerine!!

The squad is coming together nicely!! UTP! 🧡

Yep. Not much of a fan of the loan system myself. Much prefer someone we've spotted, bought and developed. Even better would be a home grown talent. Ahh well
You're still going to be competing with the biggest clubs who cream off the best talent. Loans are a good way for them to test their youngsters in the real world, and gives other clubs a chance for some quality.

What a signing he would be. A number of people in the game including his own club see him as a huge talent with a big future. We need that creativity in midfield and this young fella will supply it. Hope this rumour is true.

Agreed Nigel, but Little Wes the magician was only light and short (we stood alongside him chatting a couple of times in town) and there are plenty of other similar examples.
Charlie has been coached and trained at the highest level and he will be used to taking and riding the knocks.

If he comes to us on loan does that mean he lacks ambition ?

Only kidding, this lad has been hyped for ages, are we signing him ?

Prem youth loans is probably one of the few times where offering Squires Gate in winter becomes a USP for the club. Blowing a gale, pissing down horizontally and then Gary Goals lands on you in a 50:50 and pats you on your head. What a great learning to take back to your bubble.
Good shout. Yes, SG isn't the best of facilities, though clearly the new facility will be fab. But it's actually a really good test of character for the young loanees. If they can do it at SG all through the winter, or away at Stoke in January (which is pretty much the same!).
Arsenal Twitter says things like 'they'd better give him minutes' etc.
If he's good enough (and by all accounts he is), then he'll play.

It's been said that there is no "To Buy" clause....it's a straight forward 'loan'
Seems the Arsenal faithful see him as one for the future....and hold him out for a full squad number in the next year or so....

Anyone who thinks we’d be signing a player like this on a permanent needs to check themselves in somewhere. The hype surrounding this sort of player usually gets them a move for £20 million + - just look at the 18 year old Chelsea are taking from Villa.

If we do sign him, I'll reserve judgement until he's actually played some real first team football. He's played 3 games in total to date. History tells us that these kids can be a world away from what's really required and they're not particularly cheap either. Unless we get a player who can genuinely change games for us - a big ask for an 18 year in a VERY competitive league - then what's the benefit to us for developing someone else's player and giving him game time over Sonny Carey, Luke Marriette or Tayt Trusty? We're already doing the same for Fiorini.

Anyone who thinks thus will be anything other than a loan needs to get a dose if reality. Arsenal need to give him minutes in a professional good standard men's game and he would get it with us. Works well for both clubs. If we sign him, enjoy him whilst he's here for the season

Pedri the Spanish wonder kid is 19 so I'm not too worried about his age, but i agree what's the point of this type of signing unless he is genuinely ready for the championship. Arsenal will just be happy to get him out the door to gain some first team experience. But at what cost to our young players if he's shite.
