Charlie Patino to sign?

So one game in and we've gone from just Fiorini to a number of signings, albeit several loanees.
It's looking much better than a couple of weeks ago.

Would he and Fiorini work well together in a midfield? I like the thought of them linking up but not the strongest lads are they.

Appears a decent signing, but is any one else concerned about our reliance on loans and only one permanent signing. That's ok for today, but no consistency for tomorrow when all the loans have returned to their parent clubs!

Worked for Forest. PNE's best three players last season were all loans.

Don't see the problem especially the calibre we're looking at. A strong holding midfielder in Connolly/Dougall or Stewart will allow these lads to work their magic.

Think the difference is between now and when we used to depend on loans more is the quality we’re getting in.

The parent clubs wouldn’t sell us these players and even if they’d consider it, we couldn’t afford them.

Not overly no. It's pretty normal now, the best quality at affordable prices is quality academy players on loan I think. And Aldi I suppose. 5 loans out of a 25 man squad. 20 players of our own plus lots of our own under 21s.

I think what it puts in place is time for the Development Squad to progress.12 months from now we may well have 2 or 3 truly ready after a year in the Central League and no doubt rotation onto the first team bench.

The number of pro contracts handed out over the last few months plus the success of the youth team would indicate we have some likely lads(already witnessed) and no point blocking their progression longer term if we can progress in the interim with some loan signings.lbfrom above

Great signing, don't prefer to rely on the loan market so much, but don't mind it too much for where we're at.

Would assume what's left of the budget (since we were prepared to spend 1.2 million on Brannagan and will now fill the CM hole with Patino) will be used on a winger/striker and a RB.
We need to get a new Kevin Stewart I think. An undamaged one.

Great loan if it happens, but understand concerns about number of loans being far more than signings especially with how many players contracts are coming to an end in the next year or so. That said I’m sure SS and BM are well aware and will loo after our club.

One thing that is probably a contributing factor to this loan is Appleton. He had Brooke Norton-Cuffy (name sounds like something out of PG Wodehouse) on loan at Lincoln last year. That was a very successful loan spell for a young player we have big hopes for.
Magic, you mightn't get too many responses to the PG Wodehouse thing.

Do you have any other players who appeared in that other classic historical tome "Weekend piss-ups on a budget"?

Dougall or Connolly might be able to do a job at the base of midfield if they have 4 players ahead of them such as Corbeanu, Fiorini, Patino and Bowler that are all looking for the ball to feet and comfortable with it.
Big problem we have is centre forward none of them look right. Beesley might have been the best option for us if fit but not totally convinced by him either.

I'm sorry to say but I think this signing makes me think it's looking more and more likely that Bowler will be leaving. Appy's just getting his ducks in row before the move is sanctioned.

This kid plays in midfield...

Not sure I understand that at all tbh. I'm not actually convinced we're going to get him yet either.

Ben appears to have been reading this forum, and as a wind up, he's decided to tease us / put our stress levels up a notch, by holding the good news back until tomorrow 🤣

I agree but it's all heading that way. Corbeanau is of course also primarily a winger.
We are in a position where we really can't afford to keep Bowler if the offer is right. We need the trade off transfers.

Hopefully in 3/4/5 years we'll be in a position where we don't need to sell a Bowler and the player isn't looking to move. Hopeful isn't a very optimistic term in this case.

7PM at night, if it's terms agreed, what's taking so long? A medical doesn't take too long tbf. Let's see what happens.

Surely he’s not coming, reported this morning he was just waiting to have a medical. Assume all is not well.
