Club release statement on Critchley

Contrary to claims made by a reporter this morning, Neil Critchley is firmly committed to Blackpool Football Club.

The Club rarely comments on press speculation, but in this instance feels an exception needs to be made. Articles such as this are an example of many in a long list of reports written for the sole purpose of gaining clicks and views, regardless of their accuracy.

Neil Critchley, his staff and the squad are travelling out to Ireland later today to continue their preparations for the upcoming 2023/24 campaign.

Mad how much Nixon has slipped.

Prior to him charging for his tips, I reckon he only put out what had some truth. Now he charges he puts anything and everything he gets a whisper of. Completely ruined his credibility, I remember he used to be pretty spot on with Blackpool rumours and he was one of the only accounts you could somewhat trust.

People will still listen to Nixon because he gets the occasional one right. I can't remember the last time he was right about something to do with us. Remember him sending Swindon fans into meltdown saying Grant was siging for us when that was utter BS. And that CD was gonna be our director of football.

He's off then

Bloody hell I thought I was about to see Critch had moved to Ettifaq FC on a 4 year deal. Glad it’s been put to bed.

Well done Club. You don't need distractive garbage like this going around. Also the players would have wanted clarification, perhaps targets yet to be bagged.

If he was to go though I believe Messi, Neymar and that French bloke in the Hanson song, Mbop will all sign for free.

Good decision from a business and pr perspective. Should have gone further and named and shamed Nixon and added a video of Critchley dismissing the story. Negative chatter is bad for the players and staff and off-putting to future recruits so you want to make it clear don’t mess with Blackpool.

Hopefully this is the last statement the club puts out on bullshit rumours or they'll have to make them everday as the Wums will go into overdrive.
They, as you know, don’t usually make statements about anything and this won’t set a precedent. The only reason they have reacted, and quickly, to this is because of the way Critchley buggered of last time. They therefore needed to nip this in the bud, well done BFC.

Hang on, someone on the original thread swore it was true because he knew a bloke who new Critch. This must mean someone was telling porkies...gasp!

Hahaha get blown out Nixon you shameless grifter.

Great communication by the club, I hope this is a lesson to some on here who overreact at every rumor or get upset when the club doesn't post.

They keep a tight ship now and tell us information and make statements only when it is necessary, which is for the best.

Our business this Summer has mostly been kept under wraps and that is a good thing. Long may it continue. 🍊

The statement doesn't actually clarify anything though? All it's done is state the obvious.

They've said he's commited (which he will be, until the time comes when he isn't) and that he's going to Ireland (he's head coach, ofcourse he is) but that doesn't really count for anything, ollie left an hour before a match!

There's nothing there that says he hasn't had an approach or that he's turned anything down.

And for what it's worth I am delighted critchleys back as he's the best man for the job, I'm just pointing out I don't think the statement clarifies an awful lot?

They’ve gone as far as they can .
It’s football

I’m 100 per cent convinced that Critch is committed and he wouldn’t let SS down a second time.

However I’m sensible enough to know that sometimes offers are too good to refuse and who knows the Saudis may put forward an offer that neither the club nor Critch can refuse .

It’s football in 2023 . It’s potty.

There was a time Nixon was a pretty reliable source of BFC info. That time has definitely passed.
