Has there been a club statement or anything from the referee to explain what happened last night?
Ref declared pitch playable on arrival at 6. So not groundsman fault?Don't need one, groundsman didn't get the pitch playable, game got called off, simple.
Something not right, 6pm ok, 7pm it isn’t. Elf need to investigate.Ref declared pitch playable on arrival at 6. So not groundsman fault?
Then after Hasslebank complained 3 of his players SLIPPED in warm up, ( confirmed in his statement) gave in & declared it unfit!
Do players not slip on wet & watered pitches?
Snowflakes!
The 5pm kick off wouldn't work as JFH likes to watch The ChaseIs there any reason why the game could not have been put back 24 hours or even had an earlier kick off today, say 5 pm?
Do you think it would have been called off if the ground was full?It says a lot about society and social media nowadays when a game of football being called off can cause such a ridiculous overreaction.
In years gone by it would have been accepted with a shrug of the shoulders and some understandable annoyance by those that had been affected by travel etc.
Nowadays it HAS to be someone's fault, there is a deeper meaning behind it and someone's head must roll for it.
It's utterly laughable.
I have absolutely no idea, I didn't see the pitch, the same as every other single person on the planet other than those stood on it last night.Do you think it would have been called off if the ground was full?
I agree that it would have deteriorated, but it’s strange that ours was the only game called off last night, and as we all know, there’s quite a few that are worse than ours, and quite a few that are inland in areas where the temperature would have been even lower.I have absolutely no idea, I didn't see the pitch, the same as every other single person on the planet other than those stood on it last night.
For all anyone knows the pitch could have been frozen rock solid in places, and with 2 more hours until the game had finished it could have ended up even worse considering temperatures were dropping.
But we have literally no idea if any were worse than ours. It is impossible to tell from pictures on a TV screen.I agree that it would have deteriorated, but it’s strange that ours was the only game called off last night, and as we all know, there’s quite a few that are worse than ours, and quite a few that are inland in areas where the temperature would have been even lower.
What's even funnier is some asking for an investigation by the EFL. Firstly because it's the EFL and secondly, like they have a time machine and can transport themselves to the pitch at 6:45 last night. But we have literally no idea if any were worse than ours. It is impossible to tell from pictures on a TV screen.
I totally understand the frustration, it put a dampener on my evening because right now the only thing I have to look forward to short term is our games, but that doesn't mean that there has to be a pantomime villain, which has been made out to be either the ref, Hasselbaink or someone within BFC.
Ours was the only game called off last night? Really?I agree that it would have deteriorated, but it’s strange that ours was the only game called off last night, and as we all know, there’s quite a few that are worse than ours, and quite a few that are inland in areas where the temperature would have been even lower.
Oh yes it does...But we have literally no idea if any were worse than ours. It is impossible to tell from pictures on a TV screen.

He does and he's behind you...Oh yes it does...
Rotherham did it last week called off Tuesday against derby last minute replayed the next day. What's even funnier is some asking for an investigation by the EFL. Firstly because it's the EFL and secondly, like they have a time machine and can transport themselves to the pitch at 6:45 last night.
20's makes a good point about having the game played next day, however plans for that need to be made in advance. Now if, jeez, the EFL were to say games postponed should be attempted to be played next day and teams knew about that they could prepare accordingly.
Player safety has gone way too far over the top. Maybe players who need to stay safe should play a different sport.Player safety has to come first, let's get that straight. If the boot was on the other foot and we'd turned up at their place and discovered a patch of the pitch still frozen, we'd have every right to flag this to the ref. My doubt here is how bad the issue was, I could see several people stamping on it and forking it but what few of us know is how bad it was. Clearly the ref, groundsman and Critchley didn't see an issue. I also think it is clear Burton are trying to buy as much time as possible because of their new manager and signings. My hope is that when we do eventually play them, we give them a good hammering or even better still be the team that confirms their relegation.
Out of interest did any of our players not slip? Maybe Burton just had the wrong boots on!Ref declared pitch playable on arrival at 6. So not groundsman fault?

Nope Gnaduillet has signed for Hearts.Out of interest did any of our players not slip? Maybe Burton just had the wrong boots on!
They presumably mean't in L1 which would be rightOurs was the only game called off last night? Really?
Somebody needs to check their 'facts'.
Well he should learn to talk proper like what I doThey presumably mean't in L1 which would be right
I bet he doesn't get many right. The 5pm kick off wouldn't work as JFH likes to watch The Chase.

I don't disagree but it's a different sport and time; no/little contact, red cards for next to nothing, players out for 2 weeks with a twisted sock. None of which is for the better but it's where we are I'm afraid.Player safety has gone way too far over the top. Maybe players who need to stay safe should play a different sport.
Like tiddlywinks, with knuckle protectorsPlayer safety has gone way too far over the top. Maybe players who need to stay safe should play a different sport.
Just a few more from Chelski no doubt..Before arranging a new date please consult with Burton as they may wish to sign another unattached player and need to give him[them] adjustment time!
It’s possible but only if it was dropping say a degree every 20mins or so but that wasn’t the case. I think it was a combination of JFH being a name kicking off and the ref not particularly fancying a cold night.I can remember in thowd days playing on frozen pitches by the second half it would be better after everyone running round on it for 45 mins. I don’t get the it would freeze up more during the game.
In years gone by the players would have played, even if the ground was as hard as concrete. Outfield players would have stuck their trainers on and the keepers would have worn tracky bottoms. The game has gone, full of ballet dancers who would have died of fright, playing on some of the pitches in the 70's.It says a lot about society and social media nowadays when a game of football being called off can cause such a ridiculous overreaction.

Well said !In years gone by the players would have played, even if the ground was as hard as concrete. Outfield players would have stuck their trainers on and the keepers would have worn tracky bottoms. The game has gone, full of ballet dancers who would have died of fright, playing on some of the pitches in the 70's.
Still, in the days where footballers fall to the ground in perfect conditions, after feeling the slightest touch, we shouldn't be surprised.
One hard patch on the pitch, game off, it's utterly laughable
You think we'll be allowed back this season can't see it myself.Thinking about it, I'm coming round to the idea that this is rearranged as late as possible in the season. It would be good to play them in front of a crowd who'll let them know how they feel about the double postponements.
There's a large chunk of the population vaccinated by April. Covid passport and match ticket. Bring it on.You think we'll be allowed back this season can't see it myself.
Well I won't being under 50 I'll be lucky if vaccinated before next season starts. There's a large chunk of the population vaccinated by April. Covid passport and match ticket. Bring it on.
