Aye, you're right, we should spunk £500K on someone who failed his medical. Our transfer dealings are pathetic. We nauls up this guy’s transfer to Portsmouth, then change our mind. We’re being led a dance by Shamrock Rovers over a full back nobody had heard of and missed out on other players we supposedly had an interest in. Meanwhile the players we do have prove in pre match friendlies that the majority of them aren’t good enough.
Not a good summer.
OK so there may have been medical issues sufficient to warrant not proceeding with the deal. The outcome is the same.Medical's arn't passed or failed, they highlight any medical or fitness issues and guide the club and the players insurance position regarding a transfer.
It’s one potential scenario.OK so there may have been medical issues sufficient to warrant not proceeding with the deal. The outcome is the same.
Thought you was in the know? deals offHe has
f that's the case, it's a poor way to do business. An agreement is an agreement irrespective of whether or not you've signed on the dotted line. The Club will quickly get a bad reputation if it is ditching deals at the 11th hour just to seek out another target. I guess it's on a par with gezumping. It’s one potential scenario.
It would have to be something major to cancel a transfer all together.
I get the feeling it’s more to do with us wanting another target.
But at this stage it’s all guess work really.
The opposite is actually true, until it's signed there is no agreement. An agreement is an agreement irrespective of whether or not you've signed on the dotted line.
Ridiculous post. You have no knowledge whatsoever of the clubs dealings…Our transfer dealings are pathetic. We nauls up this guy’s transfer to Portsmouth, then change our mind. A fee was agreed, as were personal terms, so he must have failed the medical, musn't he?
Had you heard of Sonny Carey before we signed him? Or Marv? I hadn’t.Ridiculous post. You have no knowledge whatsoever of the clubs dealings…
Just stop it, it's ** embarrassing now.He has
Maybe something in his medical indicated that he's unlikely to get injured and therefore would only look out of place here
Something impending?Errr No................

EXCLUSIVE: The Colby Bishop transfer saga has taken another twist - Blackpool’s move for the striker is now OFF. A fee and personal terms had been agreed, but The Gazette understands the Seasiders have decided not to pursue the move.
I think we will be needing Lubala on his current efforts.Lubala
Apparently according to Nixon Pompey are back in for Bishop
How so?Sounds like incoming
Well if we have got someone else l hope he’s a proven step up from CB as l thought he would have been a very good signing for us!For me, the only plausible explanation is that we’ve got someone else.
Everyone speculating about a medical issue, I see the thinking but he’s gonna have a medical at Pompey tomorrow and if everything goes ok surely that’s that theory down the pipe? Unless Pompey were willing to take a risk we weren’t but if it was so bad we had to pull out I doubt they would be taking that risk considering this is a huge season for them.
Agree, he’s just had a 46 game season at Accy not missed a game so I find it difficult to except it’s a medical issue. For me, the only plausible explanation is that we’ve got someone else.

Maybe the club aren’t playing ball? Maybe they back tracked on the 500k fee thinking he wasn’t worth it?Why isn't it plausible that someone has tried to move the goalposts and the club is refusing to play ball?
It’ll be interesting to see whether they find anything in a medical.Apparently according to Nixon Pompey are back in for Bishop
Probably a Nobber tattoo. That would fail any medicalIt’ll be interesting to see whether they find anything in a medical.
Old trickHow so?
Because it was reported that a fee and personal terms had been agreed. Why isn't it plausible that someone has tried to move the goalposts and the club is refusing to play ball?
He didn’t turn up for his Pompey medicalI thought he had a medical at Portsmouth so I doubt he would fail one at Pool. More likely something else.
Maybe the club aren’t playing ball? Maybe they back tracked on the 500k fee thinking he wasn’t worth it?
We did it with Kirk as I recall, we didn’t value him at 500k like Charlton did we only valued him at 250k?
Until we hear something official it’s all guess work.
Like I said until we hear something official it’s all guess/rumour control theories. With Kirk, £500k was only ever an option, the club decided not to exercise it and the loan never became a permanent.
With Bishop, the fee is the fee agreed with Portsmouth, why would the club offer than then decide he's not worth it within a day?
My best guess, the agent's tried to insert a release clause, and if BFC are paying £500k for him, they're not going to stand for that.
Superstitious?Old trick
It’s a simple as he will have a medical condition/issue that we decide is to big a risk, Pompey will look at the same condition/illness and decide it’s not a deal breaker - all about opinionsHow does it work if he supposedly fails a medical at one club but then sails through the next medical ? Is one club doing something wrong. If he goes to Pompey I hope he doesn’t score 20 plus.

So it’s about who’s prepared to take a riskIt’s a simple as he will have a medical condition/issue that we decide is to big a risk, Pompey will at the same condition/illness and decide it’s not a deal breaker - all about opinions
I hope he does, none of this is either the player’s or Pompey’s fault. How does it work if he supposedly fails a medical at one club but then sails through the next medical ? Is one club doing something wrong. If he goes to Pompey I hope he doesn’t score 20 plus.
Yes I guess it is and we weren’t prepared to take the risk it seemsSo it’s about who’s prepared to take a risk
I don’t recall saying it was did I?Okay, but my point was "why is a failed medical the only plausible reason?"
