Critchley(has someone had a word)R/BB Presser.

He is constantly criticised for changing things, actually. Tinkerman being another name😉

We need to see something different tomorrow in terms of attitude and approach, regardless of the result.
Problem with his ‘tinkering’ is that he does it when we win. I don’t think he’s ever heard the old adage ‘don’t change a winning team’. There are times to tinker and other times, when if it ain’t broke don’t try and fix it.

That’s not accepting responsibility…it’s a Royal “We” that deflects it to everyone
He says he takes responsibility I set the team up so that's a pretty clear admission for me and it's baffling how many times it's not happened after several performances similar to that.
He is all over the fisting of a win but it seems to me he has had to be poked by someone to finally come out and say it like that.

The comment on Tuesday night "If I knew what was going wrong, I would change it" or words to that effect was very telling in my opinion.

The fixation on 5-3-2 or 3-5-2 especially away from home is at the core of the poor performances. We have looked defensively weak against any team that presses us and lumps the ball into our box. This should have been addressed months ago but the cracks have been papered over with our results at home. In the January window we needed a replacement for Kenny (not sure Byers is that player) a left back and a big dominant CH in the Keogh mould. Coulson looks more like a wing-back than a full-back and up to now a bit lightweight. In fact, lightweight applies to the whole team we have become a bit of a soft touch as a group, a team that is easily bullied. That was particularly evident against Stevenage and Cheltenham.

As we all know if three ‘coaches’ on the touch line don’t know what’s going wrong or how to do something about it, we are definitely in trouble. And they should be unemployed.
Even if it was some off-the-cuff remark he should have been relieved of his duties along with the nodding dogs ASAP.

It's a decent interview.... Radio Lancs have been excellent this season in my opinion... They have certainly haven't shied away from asking the difficult questions and in this instance, I think Critchley has responded honestly.
The issue is that some are that set against him, they've forgotten to take any semblance of positivity from anything, which compounds the negativity around the whole club.

It's not great at the moment, but surely, that is when supporters should be supporters, not additional pressure bringers.

Blackpool til I die, or until we lose a few games.

He could do worse than to sit down with his squad and talk it through. Ask them if they're finding his approach difficult.

Wiz, it's not a bit of a blip it's a recurring theme and I have no doubt he has been told to take some ownership of the constant shitshows served up.
I don't know what Mary has said that you have replied to and quite frankly I couldn't care less.
I have only recently gone on to the Critchley out side of the fence and I think he has been cowardly in taking this long to take some ownership instead of blaming the players and it seems from his persistence he is going to live and die for his system.

& do you honestly believe that a coach with his qualifications hasn’t done this / does it on a regular basis ?
Between him and his nodding dogs, he said he didn't know what was going wrong the other night so I wouldn't trust him to do anything right now.

Clearly isn’t going to revert away from this back 3 setup, he pretty much says it outright. And suggesting we don’t have the players to play 4 at the back is kind of insane when they’ve all done it previously.

Anyway at least he did finally take responsibility for Tuesday and he’ll live or die by the next 3 games. They don’t go our way and he should go, we show some fight and get a few results fair enough.

Actually they haven't 'done it previously' ... Well at least not in any kind of possession based, build from the back kind of system. In fact any time we've tried to employ that kind of system with a back 4, we've failed miserably and found ourselves resorting to lumping it to a big bloke and hitting teams on the counter. He hasn't suggested we don't have the players to play with a back four either has he... He's simply said that he feels that the players we have are best suited to a three.

We could certainly try to play with a back four, but I've seen nothing much to suggest that it would improve us or that it suits the players we have available any better than the way we have been playing though tbh.

In Critch's previous promotion season when we got promotion he had the luxury of having no fans in the stadium. It made a big difference to
the referees as they were not under pressure from fans with their decisions. Now teams realise they can bully the Blackpool team, and
especially kick and foul Dembele and get away with it at home. Add in that the current team is now lacking the physical presence without Madine, Ballard, Simms, and Dougall, and it's easy to see that we need to toughen up really fast to have any chance of getting promotion

We lack physicality, there’s no two ways about it and it’s something that Critchley and recruitment need to address, because L1 is a physical league.

You've misinterpreted what I've said. All the players in that squad will have played a formation that contains a back 4 before and most of them are experienced professionals. And he does imply both that he doesn't have the players for that formation and they're better in a 3. I'd suggest bottom 4 away form suggests otherwise.

Also when have you seen us play at back 4 this season? the answer is apart from Peterborough when we went down to 10 men you haven't. So how can you compare the 2. Last time Critch played a back 4 we got promoted from League one and finished mid table in Championship so don't really get your comments.

How have I misinterpreted what you’ve said exactly ?

How does him saying that he thinks this squad suits a 3 imply that he doesn’t have the players for a 4? It doesn’t imply anything of the sort. It simply implies that he thinks they’re suited to a 3 (nothing more, nothing less).

Last time Critchley played a back 4 we were playing a form of 4-4-2 that saw us concede possession, good the ball long and try to hit teams on the counter. We tried to play build from the back with a 4 under Critchley and with Appleton and failed both times … The defenders that we now have at our disposal are even less suited to a 4 than the ones we had previously.
