Found guilty on all counts
Was there any real evidence or is this a politically motivated judgement?
Go watch the trial, you muppetWas there any real evidence or is this a politically motivated judgement?
Its certainly not been a black and white issue as you suggest. Was there any real evidence or is this a politically motivated judgement?
Unfortunately not. Previous good character =12.5 years plus a few more for aggravated matters. Less than 20 I would think.40 years at least it looks like
Won’t see much daylight again, if any.
I wish him every success in there mind.Unfortunately not. Previous good character =12.5 years plus a few more for aggravated matters. Less than 20 I would think.
Are you saying an innocent man has been jailed wrongly in the name of political expedience? With all the threats of (I'll be polite) unrest would anybody have come to any other verdict? Even the so-called leaders are a bloody disgrace, especially Pelosi and Waters.
He wasn't innocent. If the footage was showing something different then he may well have been found innocent. That's justice for you. He’s got what he deserved, but even if he’d been innocent, he’d have been found guilty.
I'd go further. It was economically motivated. Was there any real evidence or is this a politically motivated judgement?
Depends on whether it deals with the deep seated cultural racial prejudices that exist in US society.Good decision and hopefully a long standing symbolic one for change in America
Confused thinkingAs guilty as he is ....... there's an element of scapegoat about the conviction.
Aye, it could be dressed up as one bad apple etc, but would like to think it’s the start of a sea change there with the focus now on the issue.Depends on whether it deals with the deep seated cultural racial prejudices that exist in US society.
As guilty as he is I still think there are others who've got away with their responsibilities, and there's an element of scapegoat about the conviction.
Its not. Its quite relevant to point out that the US has prejudices running right through its society, and the book being thrown at one man doesn't make those things disappear.Confused thinking
Absolute bollocks. Give over. He’s got what he deserved, but even if he’d been innocent, he’d have been found guilty.
WHAT......How could he have a fair trial with all the coverage, where were his rights.
He's been afforded far more consideration than he showed to his victimHow could he have a fair trial with all the coverage, where were his rights.
I'm not saying he was innocent but I can't help thinking all the threats of violence had an influence on the verdict. Are you saying an innocent man has been jailed wrongly in the name of political expedience?
Interesting that a few on here who couldn't wait to trot out the previous history of the victim are now happy to see a conviction.
So he was judged based on the colour of his skin?WHAT......
You mean his right to a fair trial, his right to be represented by a lawyer, his right for a day in court with a judge & jury....or even his right to appeal
SO.....He got every possible right......but what about the right to have a Policeman protect and serve......the right not to be killed for misdemeanours, the right not to be judged because of the colour of your skin........George Floyd was denied EVERY right by this Policeman......but that Policeman was given EVERY right going.......and he was still found guilty.
Unless you meant something totally different?
Use a different technique and don't choke people to death seems to be the lesson to be learned. He was resisting arrest and he used a technique he was trained to do to restrain him.
So if you were a white copper in America and you need to use restraint to arrest a black man are you now telling me they won’t think twice?
This is a huge victory for BLM.
Or it gives a power shift to the criminals knowing full well the police can’t react. This whole incident was totally avoidable & one of many by all account. There's a way of defusing situations without adding to the mayhem by pointing guns & barking orders. On a lesser non racist scale I've seen our police exercise extreme patience with agitated people & avoid the situation escalating. Perhaps this judgement will go some way to stop some of these thuggish types of police officers who think they are above the law.
quite rightUse a different technique and don't choke people to death seems to be the lesson to be learned.
And what was that officer supposed to do, allow her to knife the other girl? No doubt this will be used as another excuse for "protesting" against the police. Put up the boards and protect your property folks.Meanwhile, over in Ohio
Ohio shooting: Columbus police kill black teenage girl
The shooting in Columbus happened as police were responding to an attempted stabbing call.www.bbc.co.uk
And all the dredging up of misdemeanours by George Floyd were a pathetic attempt to deflect from the basis of the trial and fortunately failed.I'm not saying he was innocent but I can't help thinking all the threats of violence had an influence on the verdict.
If you read the trial record, several of his superiors and trainers refute this. It was not an approved restraint technique in this Police area.He was resisting arrest and he used a technique he was trained to do to restrain him.
You're some guy.He was resisting arrest and he used a technique he was trained to do to restrain him.
So if you were a white copper in America and you need to use restraint to arrest a black man are you now telling me they won’t think twice?

Floyd was charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon - hardly a petty crimeAnd all the dredging up of misdemeanours by George Floyd were a pathetic attempt to deflect from the basis of the trial and fortunately failed.
The defence essentially was that because Floyd had a history of petty crime he deserved to die.
Guilty was the only reasonable outcome when set against the defence offered.
I really cannot argue against any of that. You're some guy.
