Do We Have Enough Of A Goal Threat?

There has been a lot of talk about playing nice football but not creating enough chances.
tbf creating chances is one of the most difficult things.
Quite often they can come from defensive errors or a bit of luck rather than incisive attacking play.
The question is do we have the players who will take chances if presented?
I know stats can often be misleading but if you look at the ones from the game yesterday we had15 shots but only 2 on target. tbf a lot were blocked so some of this maybe attributed to good defending by Crewe?

Our Stats were far better than theirs pretty much across the board and they were in decent form and at home.
So that is encouraging imo 👍

However if you look at the front 3 from yesterday none have what i would describe as good solid goal stats in their careers.
CJ is a 1 in 7 player out of nearly 175 appearances. Hes 25 so should be hitting his best years.
Madine is just under 1 in 4 out of nearly 400 appearances & at 30 the most experienced
Yates again is just under 1 in 4 out of just over 130 appearances. He is the youngest at 23 so potentially could kick on?

Hopefully one may have a breakout season, who knows?

But its not like they are like they are raw teenagers who you are giving time to develop their careers.
Or even someone like Nuttall who was young & had played a lot of reserve football but not much at senior level.

They have all played a decent amount of games in senior football.

Adapting to a whole new side and system takes time & hopefully we will get a settled solid side that clicks and defends well & scores goals.

Obviously its not all about the front 3,
Its important that others create & the midfielders can hopefully chip in with some.
Maybe even a few from set pieces & attacking defenders but you have to say that the main threat & peoples expectations are surely on the forwards?

Ive not checked the stats for midfielders but doubt any have posted lower league Lampard type figures?

Thoughts?

Glad someone reads my stats thread. 👍
Edit.
Just had a quick look at Ipswich stats from ystdy.
They had 11 (15) shots, 7 (2) on target, 1 (4) off and 3 (9) blocked.
I don't think the "on target" incudes the 2 goals scored.
Brackets are our figures from ystdy.

Seems we are lacking at the moment when it comes to testing the keeper.
Again may not always tell the whole story?
Decent attempts that just miss the target v a tame virtual backpass.

I wasn't sure where to post this thought so I'll put it on here. It's not meant to be a negative.
It doesn't matter what system you play be that 4-3-3, 3-5-2, the two most discussed, or any other system, the most important point is that the players have to be good enough. If they are results will improve. And that's what everyone wants.

We have problems all over the park and that is what is impacting on the creativity. The defence is dodgy at best the midfield is nowhere near the level it needs to perform at and there are issues up top. There have been some encouraging signs and the odd individual performance but in general we are just not firing on all cylinders. I am not being negative as I believe things will improve once the manager gets the team he wants on the pitch. I expect a number of changes again on Tuesday and we really need to establish what the preferred 11 is. The only player who is guaranteed his place has been Maxwell although Robson has probably also secured his place for a while with decent solid performances. CJ started great but we need to find a way to get him more involved particularly as he is going to be well marshalled. He may have to switch around all the front 3 positions throughout game and make himself more difficult to mark. We are not getting the best of his pace and he is a bit predictable.

The other issue is why oh why are we not using our substitutes earlier. If its not working then lets mix it up a bit and show some tactical nous. We need at least 4 points from these next two home games to get back on track and I am hopeful rather than confident we will get them. If not then we need to start winning away and that has not been easy for a long time.

That is very true 20s but different systems & a positive impact by the manager/coach through training & man management skills can help to get the best out of players both individually and as a group.
Obviously you cannot 'polish a turd' but its about developing and getting players achieving their maximum performance levels.

The whole team can score if not the whole squad, all comfortable on the ball, all can shoot, just awaiting the team to click. We miss Kaikai and with Woodburn to slot in the goals will come.

The only person actually scoring though is CJ and he is now being neutralised. Other than having someone else who is recognised by the opposition as dangerous who can occupy their players away from CJ (hopefully Woody) we are so easy to play against it’s untrue. Let us have loads of the possession in non dangerous areas and wait for us to balls up.

We obviously have a lot of young players, anyone with a modicum of football knowledge knows that most forwards don't start off their careers with a goal to game ratio or even 2:1 or 3:1. They tend to build slowly and then hit their peak during the period we having been signing them prior to, which is all part of the plan.
The ones that do are often snapped up for hefty price tags.

You'll notice that when the miserable old fart that is Nigel is quoting goal scoring records, he omits that Yates had a pretty impressive 14 in 36 last season.
But that doesn't fit his agenda.

He's also claimed that CJ has scored 1 goal in 8 this season, so it's best not to pay much attention to the daft old Oyston supporting clown.

Some of those blocks had the player in question knowing nothing about it. Yates in particular has had a number of great efforts that defences have stopped inadvertently. His luck will change.

What are the statistical chances of that?

But you, idiot that you are, fail to mention that Yates goals were in league2. That's a level below in case your intelligence level doesn't stretch that far.
By the way if you want your abuse ramming down your throat then please look me up, Mr Coward.
