Do we think Yates is going to stay ?

I think if he is to go, we need to be strong and not have the piss taken out of us.

It's 4-5M and that is that. If Jerry agrees to a contract change and a salary increase and release clause if we don't get promoted, that could be another angle where we actually get 7/8/9 million next season if we get promoted and he scores bucket loads.

It could be worth the salary increase for Jerry long term without breaking the bank. Jerry doesn't seem to be the sort of lad to throw the towel in if he doesn't get what he wants.

We could do with another good striker either way. I’m hoping we’re already working on that, instead of risking losing Jerry at the deadline and being in deep shit.

Impossible to predict

Clubs in pre season assessing squads few friendlies seeing what they need

An offer could come in at any time but I doubt SS will sell on cheap

I'd love him to stay, but things he's gone before the season starts. My gut says to Cov as they will have the money and will need him in ASAP.

As long as it's sorted and we have a new striker in before the season starts, I'll be happy. For such a crucial position, I don't want this dragging on till last August.

He'll stay. Our new sponsors have given him a tenner a week free credit to play the digital fruiters plus 10 free spins for every goal he scores.

I’d like to see him stay but I think he will want to move on. We need to get good value for him though.

Don’t think he’s good enough for top half championship. Certainly not a Gyokeres replacement.

He was awarded patience after he didn’t get a goal in his first 10 or so games in League One. Won’t get that anywhere else.

If I was him I’d ask for a new contract and look to move next year if we stay down.

Depends entirely if any other clubs match our valuation of him (which should be a minimum of £4 million + 20% sell on fee) and are then able to agree terms with him

Yep, he’s staying. Why would he leave?

Could be a risk for his career if he goes.

Next season he can bang the goals in for us and get back to playing in the Championship.

Loads of time and interest from Coventry, Leicester, WBA and Ipswich apparently. I'd be amazed if Jerry is still with us on 1st Sept. What with all the people boycotting shirts, Sadler has to ballance the books somehow! 😉
Sadler does as he pleases, he really don't give a f about the likes of us - the fans who feed and support "his" club 😕

I really don't understand why people keep blowing smoke out of Sadlers arse, he's the same as we've had before, not as bad as we've had before but same kind of mould.

Little Blackpool we will remain as long as people (chairmen, owners) are looking to not lose too much money.

Not even remotely close to what we've had before, you probably need to be more worried about what you've been smoking if you honestly can't see the difference.

Yes .. average Championship, decent League One player and for how much a Championship side would have to pay I don't think they'd take the gamble.

Sigh...same kind of mould my arse.

Yates will probably go, SS will be holding out for a decent fee and Yates will have been told that. If no one offers the asking price, he will be up top come August.

I wonder if we're pricing teams out of a move. We've rejected £2.5m as we want more, and Coventry really the only team rumoured to be interested, but with it being reported they're set to sign Ellis Simms for £8m, I can't see them spending close to £4m on Yates as well. He might stay simply because no teams can afford the price tag!

If that's the case, good! If Coventry are willing to pay £8m for Simms but don't think Yates is worth half as much they can fuck right off.

Probably not but if any man was to stay loyal I’d stick my money on Jerry so you never know.

But pre-Bosman contracts didn't have a specific length, they were permanent until the club ended them. Doesn't alter the fact that Sir Jim would have left if he could.
Not quite the case. The transfer tribunal came in in the early 80s. But certainly in Sir Jim’s era no player could go to another club without the selling club’s permission.

On the main question, I don’t see anyone interested in paying the current fee for Jerry at the current time.

Just give Jerry another 4 year co tract and a slight increase in wages. Keep the vultures away. 4-5 million with add ins and sell on clause a bare minimum I’d say
If Coventry can pay 8mill for Simms then they can pay the above for our Jerry or do one

I think the club will realise that Jerry could be the difference between us going up or not. He signed a contract that has a couple more years left so it's a different situation to Bowler, any club will need to meet our valuation.

I wonder if he is worth more to us than a buying club who may get better value elsewhere, so I think he will stay. If he was to go I would wish him all the best.

I thought the transfer tribunal just settled the transfer fee between the clubs when they disagreed.
