I have thought since the group games that we will win this and my confidence has only increased since then. I think Italy are a better option to face than Spain, who would have passed us to death, and we have the wherewithal to make life very uncomfortable for their defence.

Philips needs to be on his game from the start, unlike Wednesday where he had a pretty poor first half, to put pressure on their midfield 3 in conjunction with Rice. Southgate may be tempted to go with Henderson to partner Philips/Rice to counter their midfield - personally think Mount pushed into the hole can disrupt them as effectively.

If we are still in the game after 70 minutes we should go onto win with the quality on our bench. Something inside me tells me it will be a reasonably comfortbale 2-0 win. Here's hoping !
 
We’ve got as good if not better chance than Italy, it just depends on who performs on the day, we certainly have the tools though. I was hoping it was the same ref as we had for Germany as he seemed to take no shit. It’s a Dutchman though, just hope the game is won on merit & not a controversial decision & preferably by us 🤞
 
It's going to be a dogfight of a game. 0-0 or 1-1 is my prediction. Extra time then I'm not sure, hopefully he will use the forward talent at his disposal, their centre backs are ancient
 
If Rice and Phillips start they need to be more proactive than they were against Denmark, they need to give Italy something to think about going forward.
I think Italy will start fast and strong but we have the squad to finish better.
Its about staying in the game so we can take advantage from 70 minutes onwards.
 
Tight game. Likely to be drawing at H/T and F/T. England to win on pens. Pickford to be the hero.

Italy 2-1 AET. Just think they’ll out shithouse us. Never thought we’d make the final so deem the tournament a success regardless

Kane going deep to get the ball will work well if he tempts Chiellini or Bonucci out of position and Sterling exploits the space!
Getting their 2 centrebacks out of their comfort zone is the key.

Sort of what I was getting at, we need to unsettle those two in the middle. The last thing we need if we’re going to win is for the two CBs to have an easy night

It would be great to win but it is fifty fifty or maybe even forty sixty I guess.
Big boost to us all getting to a final whatever happens.

Italy are outsiders with odds of at least 2/1.

I would agree if the final was played in Rome not Wembley.
 
Italy are unbeaten in 33 games and have conceded just 10 goals in that time winning I think 27 of them.
I would put them as favourites, but it is fairly close in my mind, about 55-45 in their favour.
The match itself may well be quite a defensive affair with the odd mistake or piece of brilliance making the difference.
Head says Italy, heart says England. 1-0 to someone is my prediction.
 
Odds now 11/5 for Italy win.
England have a very impressive record too.
Only 1 defeat in many games and that was 2 minutes of madness against Denmark a couple years back.
Records are to be broken and home advantage is massive difference.

Really tough to call. Italy should have been undone by Spain in the semis, but poor finishing by Spain cost them. England's finishing against Denmark wasn't good either, but if they are more clinical in the Final, I can definitely see them winning. On paper England have the better players but they will have to keep their composure throughout. The Italians are very durable as they showed against Spain, and will look to hit England on the counter. It will be close but if England improve their finishing they should win.

I think Italy have played at a consistently higher tempo and level in the games so far but we are improving.
 
Really close call when you try and be objective ' hope England get an early goal.Italy are very capable of closing games down and turning a game into a bore fest if they go ahead.We want them to have to come at England
Could waffle on but I'm going ( hoping) for 3-2 England at full time - wouldcrather miss extra time or,god forbid, pens

It depends how we handle the pressure, lots of young, relatively inexperienced players who have never been involved in a game of such magnitude. A full Wembley and the expectations of a nation can be crippling (see Radacanu last week). The Italians have a lot more experience.

Exactly how I see it. We've got to get thru that first 20 minutes or so without going behind. Their tempo and pressing will try and force us into making mistakes. Think the game hinges on the first 20 minutes or so. Come thru that and we'll grow in confidence.
