England win toss and bat
Lancs on later as well
Lancs on later as well
It's madness, football lasts 90 minutes and most people are around the stadium for 2hrs or so. Cricket involves a lot more beer and supporters are there from 1030 until 1800!Slow but ok start!
After reading on another thread about increases in Covid - not sure 17k fans is best idea on reflection.
A slightly more chilled wine??Couldn't ask for much more; win toss, bat, 0 down at lunch. Hopefully we see more fluent batting in the middle session.
I normally reserve the chilled wine until after tea if I'm at the cricket. I'd be happily supping my over priced lager at this point.A slightly more chilled wine??
i agree - it is nearly 9pm here and with Lancs on after this, it’s going to be a late oneI normally reserve the chilled wine until after tea if I'm at the cricket. I'd be happily supping my over priced lager at this point.
Is this some old Asian proverb?Just as Crawley was walking off, a fly landed on my laptop screen.....
Make of that what you will
Noooo, flies land on shite.....Is this some old Asian proverb?
Edgbaston is generally a ground that gives a bit for bat and ball, so not automatically a daft decision to bat. Can't understand why England didn't bowl with overcast conditions and the ball swinging massively. Doedn't excuse some poor batting though
Yeah. That Cook was shit...Mess of a team. You can't even bin them off 'cos there's no one worth putting in. The top order has been a shambles since Strauss retired.
The rest of the top 3 in that time has been made up of the likes of Lyth, Roy, Hameed, Jennings, Denly though. No one with the temperament and talent to bat at the top of the order.Yeah. That Cook was shit...
We were 0 for lunch and then 3 terrible shots got them out. Can't understand why England didn't bowl with overcast conditions and the ball swinging massively. Doesn't excuse some poor batting though
He was also really shit, that didn't help his cause. What did they have for lunch?!
Agree with the comment above about no one being around to come into this rather flimsy batting line up. Remember when Denly got dropped basically because he dropped anchor and didn’t score fast enough.
The average here is 307 in a test first innings - so yeh 300+ is a must for meBurns is on fire!
Are we thinking a score of 300+ puts us in the game?
Mark Wood coming in at number 8. Yikes.152/4 and one session a piece, I'd actually put NZ ahead given they lost the toss and there isn't a great deal of batting to come.
Aye, worrying isn't it, Wood and Broad can be a pest and score quick runs but we do look well short of match winners with the bat. The Snicker of Dibley and Creepy just aren't cutting it but I am unsure who else is coming through, I note Hameed is rebuilding his career and doing OK at County level.Mark Wood coming in at number 8. Yikes.
I was being pedantic and of course, you're right. There's a lot of questions over the top 3 and that will regularly expose Root earlier than is ideal against a newer ball. The rest of the top 3 in that time has been made up of the likes of Lyth, Roy, Hameed, Jennings, Denly though. No one with the temperament and talent to bat at the top of the order.
My mate at the ICC is smilingWe'll be bundled out for under 250, can't see how we get the 300+ now. Another good knock from Burns.
It has to be said that NZ are a bloody good team and have bowled very well after lunch.
Oi Straighters, I resemble that remark!Yeah. That Cook was shit...
You resemble a shit?Oi Straighters, I resemble that remark!
If that comes off I’ll place bets on any of your future predictions. We are two very similar sides really, each with a great pace bowling attack and each with a very brittle batting line-up.
I predict a tie...
Aye the same older Fifties - had a few lagers with Twenties on the way to Wembley, he's older as well and a helluva lot calmer than he was!You resemble a shit?
Assuming you're the same Fifties from all those years ago, it's good to have you back on the board. Need you and 20's to get the old Statler and Waldorf routine going...
yeah, it was a cheap day out for you.Aye the same older Fifties - had a few lagers with Twenties on the way to Wembley, he's older as well and a helluva lot calmer than he was!
He 'briefly' mentioned AVFTT, so I thought I'd have a look in again....
FFS, just checked on BetVictor and they're not giving odds on a tie... so my cunning plan is chuffin' wrecked, Rekt!If that comes off I’ll place bets on any of your future predictions.
True, although it was the first drink you've bought me since we left Blackpool Grammar School!yeah, it was a cheap day out for you.
