EU bring legal action

Are they still sueing their own members like Hungary for refusing to take their EU designated quota of asylum seekers?

Funny, funny, funny. The EU has written a letter to Boris and requires a reply within one month. Its legal system will probably ensure that some action is taken within the next ten years. Totally meaningless nonsense. Here's a suggestion for the EU, reach a fair trade deal this month and we'll tear up the Internal Market Bill.

this is one of the big problems of the EU - basic enforcement. I've talked about this before, even when they make a judgement it can take ten years for countries to meet the judgement and nothing happens in the meantime. When the judgement itself can take around ten years then there is just no hope of seeing a resolution. It is a simple political gesture.

It doesn't bode well though for the UK in future trade negotiations either with the EU or others.

I believe one thing the EU are looking for in any deal is a means of rapid enforcement in the event we breach the agreed terms. So suspension of certain parts of the FTA would be one option.

I can’t imagine where they got the idea that the U.K. doesn’t honour its international commitments from.

Mex do you not find it cramped sofa surfing in Baz’s bedsit in Catford ?
Not at all. He and Mrs Baz are very genial hosts.

Anyway; back to my question. Do you honour promises you make? Or are you happy to renege on them when they become inconvenient?

You might be right. It could be easier for the EU to implement sanctions against a UK that is outside of the EU as it is a simple trade barrier. The UK doesn't meet agreements and UK products are simply stopped at the border. With a member nation that cannot happen because of internal EU political considerations. Another point where the UK is now probably fuc**d by being outside of the EU political and decision making processes.

you took the words right out of my mouth, problem is Cummins, and his puppet Johnson along with a lot of the tory's seem to think so

I don`t think they believe it to be an irrelevance, they just have to pretend that they believe it to be irrelevance.

So people like matesrate can keep his Brexit balloon inflated a little longer...

Spot on. The sycophants on here crawling all over each other with their mock outrage.
Unlike the first ten replies where they all liked each other's posts about how the EU is an irrelevance. Of course it is.

Who cares, I don't. Like I said there's some on here who simply don't comment on football. Spudgun over150 posts and no comment on BFC apart from two predictions for the prediction league. EPM46 just as bad, Sad lives if politics dominates there every waking thought.

Not sure if non-stop posting about politics, or non-stop posting about posting about politics is worse

I'm not sure either but I ain't bothered. It just intrigues me how people can sign up for a BFC football forum but not post anything about football. What's their agenda? Oh yeah, it's to have a rant about politics. because it seems pretty clear they don't care about BFC.

I've read through this thread and it's so disappointing. Some people with really important and considered points up against others with a ya-boo view of politics. It's not a game. Our relationship with Europe is crucial to this country. All this bluster about lefties this, lefties that, is just so much childish bluster; as if it's BFC v PNE.
When people's jobs are on the line and interest rates surge, making it difficult to pay mortgages and pay off loans, then it will really start to hurt and no amount of 'we now control ourselves' bullshit will bring in wages and satisfy the bank manager.

Just to add, though, there are quite a few "I'm alright Jacks" on here.

I suspect they once posted football, and the boycott years plus Brexit and everything that’s happened have lead to this sub community of just political AVFTT posters. I also find it intriguing.

The difference is I don’t really see a problem with it, of course they have an agenda, their agenda is the fact they don’t get to talk politics anywhere else and they enjoy the discussion here.
Especially now that the board has been split into two I really don’t see an issue. Wherever it came from, there is a massive political appetite on AVFTT and if people enjoy being part of it then power to them. You don’t need to post on this side of the fence.

The E.U. has become a political vehicle to enable Germany to dominate continental Europe they tried it before using their military but failed now they are using their economic strength.Remember Jean Claud Juncker after seeing Mrs May in Downing Street and complaining about the food, after he left the U.K. he went straight to report to his boss Chancellor Merkell in Berlin.

Do you really believe this stuff, that it's all Germany replaying WW2 by other means?

Get a grip.

They’re all retired, or at least nearing retirement, and selfish and couldn’t care less about the younger generations including their own kids and grandkids.

The E.U. is the least of the younger generations problems climate change has to be the big worry.Action to stop pumping carbon into the atmosphere needs to happen now not in 20 or 30 years time.

And you think this Government and Trump give a toss? The latter is a denier

I can certainly confirm that I spend no time whatsoever considering the interests of my own children.

But then again I haven't got any.
