Face masks ?

Could the wearing of a face mask become compulsary ( or a necessity ) for supermarket visits, for bus, tram, train travel ?
If so where can I buy a tangerine mask ?

They should be compulsory on public transport and indoor shopping/etc. Not seen any tangerine masks for sale when I had a look last week but didnt spend much time looking.

I use them at work as they are mandatory when we work within 2m of each other (very rare)

Dont bother on the train or tube as there are very few people on them. Easy to maintain the distance therefore not required.

has anyone got any idea where I can buy a few disposible ones at a reasonable price?
I ordered 10 yesterday for 2.49 but just got an expected delivery date of July 3rd - I think that I might need them a bit sooner

I picked up a box of 5 blue ones from a garage in suffolk..on the counter and cheap...they are made by a company called 'powerfull' made in china on the box. Though no website to buy em from.

Not for me.Not trying to be an awkward c but youre just breathing in your own stale air. There is a thought it can reduce oxygen levels so that cant be good for your immune system especially if youre vulnerable and there is no scientific evidence that they reduce the transmission of respiratory diseases.

🙄

You aren't being awkward - you're trying to be clever.

Even the simplest of thinkers can see what benefit may come from wearing one with a virus that passes from the mouth is prevelent.

Oh and the fact pretty much all of the affected world are wearing them on Government advice.

But you know best eh?

Police dont wear them. Shop workers dont wear them. Must be an option not compulsion. I wouldnt wear one.

They likely do reduce transmission if you use them properly, but they do also pose some issues if worn over a prolonged period. I would avoid going anywhere that required me to wear a face-mask if at all possible, though if I had to be somewhere that necessitated it then I would be prepared to stick one on for a short period.

My wife Crochets and she has been making washable face mask covers (rainbow ones etc) and she has made me one in Blackpool colours.

Difficult to get a tangerine colour at the moment so she used a bright orange colour but it compliments the home shirt really well. I would upload a picture but it never works.

Other downsides of wearing them that you should consider include that your lungs are part of your detoxing process. The waste products that you breathe out come straight back in again off a mask, along with bits of the mask fabric potentially.

Breathing in more co2 can alter the ph of your blood.

The barrier makes it more difficult to draw air in which is a bigger problem for anyone with respiratory problems anyway. Also, virus particles are so small they would pass through most masks.

The reason surgical masks are worn is to protect the patient rather then the surgeon, so the benefit is not to spit over everyone.

Don’t you think it kind of dehumanises us, covering our facial expressions and smiles. We’re already keeping our distance from other human beings. Is there anything in that?

If left to individuals it will cause friction between those who wear them & those who don't, so it's all or nothing in specific places such as public transport, could this be another supply problem though!

Not entirely true. Medical grade masks offer high protection. The same level of protection offered by respirator masks such as N95. Face coverings offer low protection (but even 30% protection is better than nothing).
The protection is two way: for the wearer of the mask and for other people nearby. It stops the spread from an infected person and prevents others from catching it.
I reckon we’ve more to worry about it dehumanising us. The issue is that we are not used to them and quick to resist. Compare and contrast to Asia, where they were already widely used, especially in the cities.

They have them in home bargains on rigby rd. 6 pack for 99p

I've been using one when shopping. As Neil says the main benefit is to protect others if I was asymptomatic with Covid not to protect myself. If eveybody wore them in indoor situations where distancing is difficult there would be some reduction in cases and more chance of being able to reduce the lockdown and restrictions quicker.

Yes, you look a bit of a dick with one on but for a short period of time wearing one that is not a problem.

Many on here would obviously look better wearing face masks.

And there may be a bit of a problem for some, too 'unmanly' to wear...perhaps.

I continue to wear mine in shops and indoor areas around people, as it will be a miracle if a 2nd wave of infected, in around 4 weeks time, followed by another lockdown, doesn't occur, since opening up more..if it doesn't I'll eat my mask.

Mine are tangerine ish in colour and I’ve got to do ties at the back.
So it’s a bit of a faff and they are hot to wear for any length of time.
But it’s for the best, especially when you’ve got vulnerable parents to worry about.
Considering spraying a tower on the front with BFC letters. 😷
