Fans to Wycombe

Depends on how you approach the day out in Wycombe, the clue being to spend the least time possible there.

In the past we have trained it to Reading, then caught a bus to Marlow. Glorious ride through the countryside followed by a few pints by the Thames in Marlow.

We have then splashed out on a taxi from Marlow to the ground. This was a bargain 12 a few years ago and avoids the 40 minute walk from Wycombe town centre to the ground.

Can absolutely understand giving this one a swerve and going to Charlton instead though.

Been once before, it’s alright. I always confuse it with Gillingham’s ground for some reason.

We’ve had a dropout if anyone down south needs a ticket, the ticket is in London or could meet at the ground 👍

Been once, very boring place, giving it a miss.

One for the diehards.
Sadly that's one of the problems isn't it! Last time we went we stayed in London overnight and then went to Wycombe the next day. If their fans have the audacity to sing Blackpool is a shit hole they just need to look at where they live. The most exciting thing about Wycombe is the sound of the M1!

Went on a wet Tuesday night about 2000 season. Can't say it was thrilling. The highlight of the night was one of the coach drivers getting called on the tannoy to move coach, he got up (was in our crowd) to a resounding chant of ' there's only one coach driver, one coach driver........ " . He accepted the attention with a raised arm. Very funny

It's just off the M40 from what I remember.

I think my last visit was for a midweek game when kick off was delayed for over an hour because someone had a heart attack in the home stand.
Air ambulance was on the pitch for ages so players couldn't warm up and we were not allowed in until the ref decided that the game could definitely go ahead.
I seem to recall that the chap taken ill subsequently went by road to hospital but sadly died. The game itself didn't finish much before 11pm.
I remember all this but not the result.
I suspect we lost.
Anyone fill in the gaps in my memory for me?

Was last there first day of the season 2018 and t’was roasting hot. They had ‘helpers’ dishing out bottles of water to those sitting in direct sunlight. 0-0 draw. Not the best of games. The ‘beast’ was playing for Wycombe.

I was at that one as well. We lost and by some margin as well from memory. I left early I think, partly because we were awful but mainly because the late start meant I might miss my last train home from London.

And yes the Wycombe fan sadly died. And the air ambulance struggled to take off because of the high winds.

Edit to add. Looks as if it was 2-1 which was a lot closer than I remember. I may have missed our only goal which came late on. One of Grayson’s last games in charge and it finally persuaded me he needed to go.

A friend I was with that night has since reminded me. We did lose 1-2 as you say, going two down inside ten minutes before KDH scored late in the second half. One of those games I suspect where 'Pool fans become resigned to an inevitable defeat very early on, then infused with new hope and excitement on the way to the exit, only to have that hope dashed again five minutes later by the final whistle.
How many games like that have I seen in 65 years on the road with the 'Pool?

I don’t think I’d seen us play since the November before when we’d be okayish. This match was in late January and between those dates the Grayson Out calls grew a lot.

Massive overreaction from fickle fans I thought pre match but came away thinking “He’s got to go!!” 😂

The M1 is miles away

We were absolutely garbage that entire game. Was horrible viewing from start to finish

Yes I was there that day (was it the first game of the season?) I was with my granddaughter and we will be both there tomorrow!
