Farage sets up anti lockdown party

And just explain why you think this is a bad thing ? As many on here are Anti Boris if NF takes points off the Tories you will no doubt get Labour with a crushing lead in the opinion polls putting massive pressure on them. Isn’t this what you wanted ? Or you can sit back and moan as they do what they want with an 80 seat majority for the foreseeable.

Surely by the time you’d get the momentum of any new party off the ground it would be too late. Too late to group together and too late to make any legal anti lockdown challenges.
I’m open minded regarding most political slants but this just seems like pointless posturing and attention seeking to me.

Talking of legal challenges there is a chap called Simon Dolan who has already made an application for judicial review of the lawfulness of the government restrictions.

Is it likely to be heard before lockdown Mex or does it form part of the voting process that has to pass through parliament this week do you know ?

I think it may have been heard already or be underway as we speak but have no idea when judgment will be handed down. I think he tried to get an injunction against restrictions being imposed beforehand but failed.

Good point Scara.
Had this been someone other than Farage saying this many of the moaners would have been supporting it.

Judgement expected early this week.

Interesting. Whichever way it goes I’d expect one side or the other to appeal the decision.
Dolan will take it all the way, there's no doubt about that. He's not really had a proper hearing thus far - the last judge saying he had "heard on the news" that the virus was getting out of hand. May be wrong but think it was just after Whitty and Valance's graph of doom presser.

Even if successful (unlikely), it was limited in that it only contends that the govt brought in and used emergency powers that weren't necessary as there was already legislation in place that could've been applied. Other EU nations have had their restrictions ruled illegal however so there is no reason why Dolan won't eventually get his win, even if it goes all the way to ECHR.

I can well believe it. I did some work for him years ago when he had a hugely successful business in Hemel Hempstead selling services to accountants/contractors. Frankly it was a mystery to me how the business model made money, but I suppose that’s why he’s worth hundreds of millions and I’m not.

He's a tax exile which helps.

Monaco I believe.

He’s also a serious petrol head from what I can recall.
Yep. And planes. I find him very charismatic and determined but let's himself down with the occasional RWNJ comment. In the round, a top fella.

Farage can piss of & get adoration from Trumps gun toting lunatic followers, in one of the Western worlds most corrupt places, he can live there & help create even more divisions in society. FFS do we want to have to board up our shops & businesses at a general election. I really worry how this world is getting more & more divided it’s as if we never learn anything.

So he lives abroad yet thinks he can interfere in our sovereign matters? That's ok sometimes?

Just checking.
The irony is not lost on me that the same people who thought Gina Miller was the devil incarnate, when she made an application for a judicial review of government decisions around Brexit, will be cheering Mr Dolan if he’s successful in his application for judicial review.

Starmer is an opportunist. That much is obvious.
Nah. Starmer is a serious politician who was acting in the interests of the nation when he called on the government to follow scientific advice and introduce a circuit breaking lockdown. Obviously he was ignored and condemned by the PM, who has now belatedly decided Starmer was right.

Farage however just likes to jump on band wagons.

Farage has stated he would scrap the NHS so get ready for American style healthcare.

If they get the vaccine out between Dec - March, this could easily be the last lockdown.
Feels like a party created to jump on national sentiment as most people are fed up of all the restrictions now. I don’t see the longevity and I don’t see the point.

I cheered GM and I'll cheer SD if he wins too. Either way, whatever your views on his position, it is a case that needs to be heard.

You're at it again Scare Monger!

You really are an idiot!

Yaxley-Lennon yesterday, Farage today!

Go on mention Hitler tomorrow and you'll get a hat-trick

and there's me thinking a right wing, egotistical, populist like Trump could never get a foothold here
Then remembered Farage and up popped Halifax and if I recall an educated man ...jeez
Nigel for PM - you just know it's going to happen 😀

March 13th 2020, Farage advocates lockdown:

"So government policy is that it is desirable for Covid 19 to kill hundreds of thousands of people so that we can develop herd immunity. Just can`t believe it!"

When Johnson issued a lockdown later that month Nigel Farage supported it.

November 01st 2020, Farage now opposes lockdown:

"...The rest of the population should, with good hygiene and a dose of common sense, get on with life. This way we build up immunity in the population."

How do you like your populism?

Grifters gonna grift, eh?....

Ironically Farage keeps coming back year after year in a slightly mutated form but still as opportunistic and still as nasty. Perhaps we should be developing a vaccine against him.
Well you should. And build a bigger fence too 😁

Spud what I have learnt over past few years is that hypocrisy and plain old lies ni longer matter
People no longer give a fk as long as it hits them in the guts they love it - just smile and brazen out the BS you know your peddling.
Trump is undoubtedly the master and anyone questioning is dismissed as fake ,grim but fascinating.
I'm quite sure as Halifax says he would get plenty of votes

Yet another publicly stunt
It is but -unfortunately- he's almost single handedly changed British politics forever and still the social media public keep lapping it up.

If he was a poster on here he'd be a serial runchaser with double centuries every week 😃
