I second that .... simply the greatestNeil Peart
He also played with the Eurythmics in the 80s; he was pretty good with them as well. And if anyone says Phil Collins, I'll be round to your house pronto..
For me, given pure energy and timing, has to be Clem Burke of Blondie fame. Just listen to any Blondie track and feel that timing - the unsung member..
I take it you've never heard of Brand X then ? I think you'll find that Phil Collins has a little bit more about him than what he plays with genesis !And if anyone says Phil Collins, I'll be round to your house pronto..

Agreed Yeah he’s brilliant and so is the film. Thought the band leader was a tosserThe kid in Whiplash - definitely "my tempo" great film if you've not seen it btw!
Gene Krupa by streets.Another for Keith Moon, terrific. Also Gene Krupa, can’t choose between them.
Thought you voted for Ringo? The second best drummer in the beatles.Gene Krupa by streets.
I did vote for Ringo. Someone said they couldn't choose between Keith Moon and Gene Krupa. I was responding to that.Thought you voted for Ringo? The second best drummer in the beatles.
Sandy Nelson, let there be drums. Google it and then turn it upSandy Nelson, JHB, Ginger Baker.
He struggled to even keep 4/4 time...The one and only,
The man who put the rock and roll drummer centre stage,
The man who kept perfect time despite not being able to hear his band over the screams.
Stand up, the greatest drummer ever to wear a collarless suit, I give you...
Sir Ringo Starr MBE
Have you ever played the drums ?He struggled to even keep 4/4 time...
Think its Rick Allen Def Leppard, he replaced Tony Kenning.‘Technical favourite’ - Neil Peart.
‘In your face, non-stop f*ck you energy’ favourite - Clem Burke.
Seen some other great drummers, though - Ginger Baker + Cozy Powell (already mentioned), Tony Kenning (Def Leppard - awesome for a guy with one arm!), Graham Broad (Roger Waters’ backing band), and Peter Criss (Kiss) did some neat stage show tricks.
