Think it’s been done before but hey ho,

At the mo Vera for me, what a straight talking no shit taking female Colombo, every credit 👍

Past or present by the way?

Yep - loved Hong Kong Phooey - just looked it up and can't believe it was as long ago as 1974.
Always liked The Sweeney. What an actor John Thaw was; from Regan of The Sweeney (70's) to the mild mannered Morse (80/90's)

How quickly time flies....I remember it like it were yesterday

Rarely are the book or TV series as good as each other didn't enjoy Midsummer murders books but love the series and they made a complete mess of DCI Banks and no wonder it was dropped from TV casting Tompkinson(Mr wooden) was an own goal.

Good shout on Frost bet you didn't know in the books he has a ginger beard.😄

As a duo Minder's Chisum and Jones were dynamite. At being hapless 😁

Rycott, their partner in fighting crime, had the best lines though

Yeah, I like Vera too, plus the scenery in the North East where she hunts down her offenders. During the lockdown I've binged-watched every episode on demand.

I always enjoyed Columbo, though the plots did get repetitive. You always knew who the murderer was and they drew attention to themselves by trying to be helpful and then turned to sneering at Columbo. That's how he knew who dunnit!

Frank Cannon
Surprisingly quick for a big man.
My brother had a rather large mate when we were younger, he was nicknamed Frank after the detective.
Remember him coming for tea at our house.
His dad came to pick him up & my dad on answering the door shouted "Frank, your dads here".
😂😂😂😂😂
Didn't go down well.

I like Shetland. I don't really pay much attention to the crime, I just like looking at the scenery.

Can't beat Bergarac to be honest. The plot always confused me and it always turned out to have something to do with his mate Charlie who would end up saying

'be fair Jim, I didn't know they were smuggling drugs/guns/stolen stuff when they wanted to hire my boat/offeres a no questions asked cash investment with 200%return/turned up in balaclavas and said 'my name is Sergei, that's all you need to know....''

Vera - deffo. Good supporting cast too.
Columbo
Frost.
Endevour. Roger Allam is brilliant in that. Also, I fancied his screen daughter, Joan, somewhat.

Jack Regan's a good shout. Racks of The Sweeney episodes available to stream here. Get your trousers on, you're nicked.

Love the Rebus books but avoiding the TV version until I've read them all.

Montelbano.

Toss a coin between Morse, Frost and Poirot for me.

It is always difficult to compare eras because of the advancement of technology. However, if they make a few more of Van Der Valk the portrayal by a moody Marc Warren may be up there in the future.
