They have finally spoken out about Russia and quite frankly its a disgrace and nowhere near enough.

Poland have already said they won't play them in the World Cup Play Off, Sweden and Czech Republic have now done the same. So if everyone else does the same thing Russia will win the World Cup by default? Surely the only option for Fifa is to kick them out completely or they're bringing their own competition into disrepute?

A complete fudge that speaks more about the leaders at Fifa than anything else. Needs far more member associations to refuse to play them or play in tournaments with them included

I don't understand why a sports body has to make a comment on politics etc. They are no experts. How much do we all know in regards to the history and war with Russia and Ukraine. Did the US and UK get banned when we went into Afganistan or we said Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. I am not condoning what Russia has done and I feel for the people of Ukraine but we expect people to make statements on what has happened .We just went to China in the Olympics and they are mass killing/ethnic cleansing many thousands of people as well as killing our Oceans.
 
A rare sliver of kudos to the Football Association for saying that no England team will play Russia at any level for the foreseeable future.

As for Russia playing home matches at neutral venues - which countries are going to volunteer to host those?

In this case they do.

FIFA is just like the IOC. They don't have the balls to stand up to Russia.
 
Why should countries and their fans be penalised because they’ve been drawn against Russia. That’s exactly what FIFA have done With that statement.
As for those who say sport should be left out of politics, where Russia ere concerned sport is everything. There is a win at all cost mentality whether by fair means or foul and this is backed by the state ie Putin. He would absolutely not hesitate to use sport for his own ends. By banning Russia from taking part in international sport we are sending a clear message to the people of Russia that we are not tolerating their leaders actions, something that the Russian propaganda machine will be trying to claim otherwise. Hopefully that will encourage at least some of them to stand up against him too
 
Did anybody really expect anything else? All other countries should boycott and refuse to play them.

What the Western world should be doing is to ban Russia from everything. Sports, social medias etc.
They've frozen the finances of the Russian Oligarchs living in the West. Wow. What they should be doing is to seize all their finances, and use all the money to support Ukraine and its' people.

Following a meeting this afternoon FIFA are about to suspend Russia indefinitely from the World Cup and Euro’s indefinitely.

Russia also will be suspended from all other future sporting events.

Told you all so, Panic over guys. 😉

should we ban all Russian sports people from competing in events? ie should Medvedev and other R ussian tennis stars be banned from competing in tournaments? Not quite as straight forward a decision.

It’s something I’ve wondered about. I suppose in competition they are not playing for their country so it feels different, but on the other hand Russia will bask in any reflected glory from their success.
Also whilst I’d like to hear them denounce what Russia are doing they will probably have to consider how their family in Russia will be treated if they do.
