Watched Starter for 10 last night. Never heard of it let alone seen it, lighthearted and funny enough. However the film score was unbelievable. Any film that has the Cure on a few times AND plays Pictures of You is a total winner in my eyes.

I doubt if anyone can come up with anything better.

Not come across “Waterboys”. Will now.

Easyrider, Pinball Wizard and the ‘Guardians of….’ are crap viewing but excellent rock music backing.
God knows how many films feature the excellent ‘Fortunate Son’.

Good Vibrations ( nothing to do with The Beach Boys) Rudi, Undertones etc
Party Animal. Loads of great Buzzcocks songs in it

I saw it a few times back in the day . . . mainly because my ex was a big fan of James McEvoy!!!

It has a great soundtrack . . .

Some of my favourites -

Danny Darko - when 'The Killing Moon' kicks in is brilliant

Trainspotting - 'Temptation' over the breakfast table 👍🤮

Vanilla Sky - Everything in its right place by Radiohead sounds great followed by an obscure 80s track 'Doot Doot' by Freur . . . who co-incidentally went on to form Underworld who obviously did the main track in Trainspotting.

Donnie Darko is supposed to be 'Never Tear Us Apart' (which suits the mood better) but they couldn't afford it, it's in the director's cut though, miles better.

Vanilla Sky is a great shout, I always liked Sigur ros at the end.

Amazed you’re only just hearing of them. I love them, particularly This is the Sea/Fisherman’s Blues period.
Genuinely jealous that you’ve got it all to hear for the first time.
Check out Old England and Spirit.
👍

“Easy Rider” takes some beating!

Old England and A Bang of the Ear

Infact may have a Waterboys Spotify session now 👍
Yeah, Bang On The Ear another of my favourites.
I’ve been lucky enough to see them live a fair few times, mid ‘80’s was their best imo.
👍

Amazing live I bet, jealous 🥰
Still going strong. Just about to start a tour, playing Liverpool and Manchester in October, hoping to get to both.
If you don’t already know them, check out The Sawdoctors, I’ve now got them and the Waterboys going full blast!!
😂😂

Vanilla Sky is one of my favourite films

I remember in the last 70s and early 80s, that every new movie release seemed to have an accompanying soundtrack LP.
Ones that come to mind are Fame, Footloose, The Breakfast Club, Top Gun, Flashdance, Dirty Dancing, and St. Elmo's Fire.

I’m a massive fan of many of the ‘Classical Themed’ soundtracks…

A number immediately spring to mind, but:

The Lord of The Rings Trilogy
Gladiator
Brave Heart

All feature some fantastic tunage…

Thanks for the “heads-up”.

Another one for Once......Falling Slowly has to be one of the best undiscovered(?) love songs ever..

Some not obvious ones.......
Phantom Thread.....Johnny Woodcock (from Radiohead) but don't let that put you off....classic, sweeping orchestral movements...sublime
Chef.....Decent movie but even better Cuban/Latin music
Bagdad Cafe......Half arsed art house movie with a fantastic soundtrack....Check out, Calling You by Javetta Steele...Beautiful
Brokedown Palace......Some of the best covers of songs including the Clash, Aphex Twins and Sara Brightman
Stranger Things....All 3 series have some brilliant music.... Peter Gabriel's version of Heroes and The Scorpions
Stop Making Sense.....Must count as a soundtrack......Brilliant
Mo Better Blues...Spike Lee's Jazz movie with Denzel Washington singing a great song about love.....great if you can find it..
