First time you went to a Pool Pne game

Turn 20 in February but tomorrow is my first time seeing us against them lot.

A mixture of emotions currently. Can’t remember being this excited and nervous at the same time.

Nice and easy 2-0 win would do very nicely. UTMP 🧡

I wonder how many were at my first ; Pool 2-6 PNE. George Farm ( GK) got injured early the game. There were no subs in those days, but I can’t remember who went in goal, but he went up to CF, although he could hardly run. Tom Finney ran riot ! A day to forget.

I remember that one very well a Mike Davies worldie and getting pelted with coins at full time when Nobbers ran on the pitch. Also rocks being sent over when filing out at the back of the stand. I think that was the plastic pitch days which match their fans

Late 80's, think we won 1-0. It's always been a special fixture, which maybe both sets of fans should remember when we're lamenting the other's existence!

Our 1981 League Cup loss 2-1.
I went a few times in the 80's, but I can't recall which game it was where we set the wooden Town End on fire...... Whilst we were stood in it!!!

1982, FA cup tie, we lost 2-1
It was anarchy in Preston that day running riots throughout the town centre, they have never turned up in town since! 😀
A packed town end full of Pool and also in the old west stand where it all kicked off with fans climbing up to confront gobby nobbers when they scored!

My first away game. It was packed in the town end, we were shouting to the police in front of the end that they needed to open the other side. Which they eventually did.

Definitely the 3-3 game
1993?

I'm pretty sure it was Boxing Day when Preston came on the Pitch, but I could be wrong. .Also recall that Blackpool Fans pushed down the fence to get at them . Might have been as late as 1993...

I seem to remember a car being won as some kind of prize and being driven on the pitch and our fans pelting it with coins. as well..

Deepdale 2009, 0 - 0 (awful game)

Bloomfield Road 2010, 1 - 1

Deepdale 2013, 1 - 0 (🤢)

2 draws and 1 lose, lets hope we rectify that tomorrow. Barely played them in my lifetime with the huge gaps from 2000 - 2007 and 2013 - 2021

I wish I could remember the order things happen in.

My first proper season was the first in Div4. I'm sure we didn't have s league game. There was the Cup at theirs when we lost 2-1, that was either same or year before bit I wasn't there.

Then there was the game Cunningham got sent off, won 3-0 and a League cup home and away where we had an awful last 45 at home and let three in.

Can't remember anything between those two periods, anyone else know?

We went to a night game at Bury in the early 80's which was called off whilst we were on route. The coach turned around and we went to PNE v Lincoln instead in the away end with Lincoln. I think it vexed the Nobbers that night lol ! Was also at the FA cup game in 81. We were in Preston for 10 am for a 3 o'clock KO. Fun days !

Does anyone remember a testimonial for a Knobber full back at Dumpdale? PKE 1 BFC 5?

But for me No 1 the Pickering game - here is a chant…..”Blackpool up and Preston down” - Dumpdale full of BFC.

In the Alan Ball senior era we played at Dumpdale, they were not performing well, we were at the top……..before kick off there was a presentation by AB snr and he cam down to the Kop looking for support, what he had not realised BFC had taken residence on the kop and was greeted with lots of good natured two fingers. We won the game 3-0, but there was a magic moment when the king - Alan Suddick - had the ball in our half, the Knobbers were playing “park the bus” at home…..He stopped, put his hand over his eyes to suggest where is the opposition? Then he sat on the ball…….class.

Only he could have done this !

It was packed with Blackpool everywhere. The PNE lads from Lancaster said they shit themselves all day.

97/98 season the 3-3 on the plastic pitch. We were kept in after the game and were pelted with coins

I'm 49 and have never yet seen us beat the Nobbers at Deepdale in a league or cup game, the nearest I've been is winning 1-0 in the Lancs Cup 85/86 curtesy of super Eammon O.Keefe and the1980 Anglo Scottish Cup, my father never liked going on the terraces,so we sat in the what is now (ahem) invincibles stand,I remember the police dogs snarling at the front of a packed Town end full of Blackpool boys. Dave Hockaday getting the late winner.

Great thread

Mine was I think 74 ish and I’m 13 it was the talk of the school all week.
All school lads were on the train and met up with mad duggie from Kirkham fully decked out in white skinners , 3 star jumper and polished docs with scarf round wrist .
Went to cafe near esso garage for a game of pinball and a bacon sarnie .
Walked to ground looking for knobbers , we met some Scottish lads who were there for “some aggro with Preston” it’s like it was last week,
Queued and paid to get in kop.
Walked up the steps and perched on the barrier where probably c block meets b block now - no fence 🤦‍♂️.
Waited for the knobbers to arrive - they did .
Lad next to me had his arm in a sling - too sling off and proceeded to take a massive knife out of his sling !!!
Then suddenly a massive charge across to the knobbers - they scattered .
Over in less than a minute - amazing as a young kid to witness.

Very different days to clapstix and half n half scarves

1992 got beat at home 3-2...Tony Ellis hat trick. Played them later on that season at Deepdale, 3-3 thriller with Super Mike Davies scoring a screamer!!! I think Ellis got a couple in that game aswell for PNE??? Still the biggest "Wow" signing for Bpool in my eyes when we signed him from them in 94' 😃🍊

Nobbers got relegated in 1961 from the top flight and have never been back since .
6d old pence for program and it used to have football league review inside with1s price on it for all those too young to remember 6d is 2 1/5p
and 1s shilling is 5p lolwas good value at the time
