OL, I beg your ** pardon......some goons do take notice of my nonsense if you don’t mind! You talk bollocks and no one takes notice. TAM I’m a solicitor, thinks everyone believes what he says
It's not a question of belief is it It's about what's rightYou talk bollocks and no one takes notice. TAM I’m a solicitor, thinks everyone believes what he says
It’s very reasonable Tim and the quality is very goodNever been in Lidl so can't comment
Ignore the Cock Tim, he’s clearly on Heroin or CrackIt's not a question of belief is it It's about what's right
The point I am making is why should we all lockdown together and then one age group get released earlier
You might not agree That's fine but for me it's a bit duplicitous to disrespect the collective at the final hurdle
You watching in a Crack Den?Tom Jones and Jools Holland on BBC2’, stop responding to my comments. It’s interrupting my viewing
Mex my wife is a Manager at a Intermediate care unit and went back to her desk and a service user with Dementia was sat at her desk wearing my wife’s cardy and eating her cake....To be honest when they have dementia it’s more about breaking out. Especially in the case of my mum who also had dementia. To the extent of taking a hammer to an unbreakable glass door. That promptly broke. Or sneaking onto a reception desk when the receptionist was in the toilet and ringing the police on 999 to say she was being held hostage.
You seriously need a sense of (very black) humour if you have someone who has to travel down that path.

Kent? Was it the only place with vacancies?Agreed but I just think that's what we all should be doing
I've got two holidays booking in Kent at Whit and then cruising on the Thames in August
Can't wait
Sounds about right. I’m convinced that half the time they are just taking the piss.Mex my wife is a Manager at a Intermediate care unit and went back to her desk and a service user with Dementia was sat at her desk wearing my wife’s cardy and eating her cake....
Quite possiblySounds about right. I’m convinced that half the time they are just taking the piss.
To be fair it has a lot going for itKent? Was it the only place with vacancies?
Maybe they should be allowed to spend their money where they chose.Maybe they should be spending their money here as we try to rebuild
I am not saying it should be forever but just this summer until the vaccinations are complete
Just a thought but as a quid pro quo maybe the kids should have been able to do for the last twelve months but they weren'tMaybe they should be allowed to spend their money where they chose.
I quite agree. And not just the kids.Just a thought but as a quid pro quo maybe the kids should have been able to do for the last twelve months but they weren't
Anyone under 50 is a kid to meS
I quite agree. And not just the kids.
Yep. Barnard Castle is the destination for me. It’s about time I had my next eye test.Fair point about the industry Lala
Still leaves a bitter taste for our younger lot
I'm holidaying in the UK this year anyway
So where exactly have the oldies been catching this awful disease if they have 100% been obeying the rules?I’m 62 and my wife is 56 both had our first jabs in the last couple of weeks. Second jabs in May and straight off on holiday. Bollocks to you young ones who’ve caused all the problems. Give me my vaccine passport.
Rightly so the elderly where prioritised but the minute you lift restrictions for one set of people over another it will cause problems as those who are waiting to be vaccinated will be wanting to be pushed further up the queue. There will be folk in every age bracket who broke the covid restriction rules. It’s naive to think any one age group had a monopoly on that. There will also be a lot of folk who haven’t and whom have shielded themselves in the extreme due to their age and underlying health conditions and had little or no contact with anybody for so long.
The decision on who to vaccinate first was made based on medical and scientific evidence and advice to save lives and the NHS. Without doing this we would then jeopardise other significant recovery factors such as the economy.
I don’t blame the older generation for the decision made to vaccinate them first, a decision made to protect all of us, in many ways, as a society.
I find the bitterness behind not wanting the older generation to enjoy their freedoms as soon as possible a little perplexing to be honest.
I think they should be forced to stay inside for at least another 6 months and give up their pensions to fund the recovery of the hospitality industry.
We’re all in this together!
I guess I’m just not that precious about myself or who goes first if it’s based on sensible reasoning.Rightly so the elderly where prioritised but the minute you lift restrictions for one set of people over another it will cause problems as those who are waiting to be vaccinated will be wanting to be pushed further up the queue.
Why shouldn't NHS staff be able to have a holiday to Cyprus this summer if they wish but won't be able to because their partners haven't had the jab as for example would be my situation(not that I'm going abroad!).
We had Lockdown all together whatever age unlocking should be the same.
I'll take it that's posted as BFC and not the real you. Have you not spotted how many of the super selfish oldies have volunteered during the vaccine roll-out, just one ecample, whether they are retired NHS employees or just the slightly less decrepit helped the wheelchair bound and the disabled to roll their sleeve up. Ridiculous comment.Don’t you worry the pensioners won’t give two shytes about the rest of us once they are sorted... That era has always been the same ‘super selfish’.
We may have all sacrificed our freedom, our incomes and our education, but they won’t give up their holidays.
Unfortunately Lala the society we live in today means there will always be people who point the finger at other age groups blaming them for what ever reason sees fit.I guess I’m just not that precious about myself or who goes first if it’s based on sensible reasoning.
Why would I care who goes on holiday before me if it’s for logical medical reasons and helps the recovery of certain industries along the way.
The decision being made isn’t who can holiday first,it’s who needs the vaccination first, and with that comes some benefits to some, so what.
Why do people think they are being ‘done over ‘ and resent other people moving forward by default.
I'm just playing devil's advocate agree with you in the most but it was only yesterday a doctor on TV disagreed with the policy as it would put pressure on them to get others vaccinated.I guess I’m just not that precious about myself or who goes first if it’s based on sensible reasoning.

That's not correct about supermarkets. There was no evidence of transmission in supermarkets. It was just a fact that people with CV had been in a supermarket which is quite different. Most to the transmission is through schools and supermarkets not a few teenagers having a house party
Don’t you start with your devil’s advocating, avftt has enough of those alreadyI'm just playing devil's advocate agree with you in the most but it was only yesterday a doctor on TV disagreed with the policy as it would put pressure on them to get others vaccinated.
If you are willing to pay for a test that should be equally the same as for those who've had the jab for this summers holiday.
I know there’s the odd one who have used the trials as a way of jumping the vaccine queue, but I’m not sure I’d class that as anything other than helping yourself really. Just another way of fast tracking themselves back to Benidorm and a life of luxury in the sun.I'll take it that's posted as BFC and not the real you. Wasn't the spread primarily in hospitals?Tim, there are a number of different factors here. The lockdown has been primarily to prevent the nhs getting overwhelmed and preveting deaths, which have mainly been in the older population and people with additional health issues. But the spread of the virus has undoubtedly been primarily via younger, more mobile adults, both from travel abroad and within this country.
Notwithstanding the fact we are a major international travel and trading hub (unlike the likes of New Zealand), I still would have properly closed our borders to non-essential travel from the start and kept them closed. Wave 2 was primarily caused by too much relaxation last summer, when people couldn't wait to jet abroad, without any real thought of the risk of infection to themselves or others.
Whilst I have some sympathy for those that work in the travel industry, I have little sympathy for some of the owners (such as of Ryanair) who have wanted virtually no restrctions without regard for the consequences.
Whatever we do there is going to be the introduction of some form of vaccination certificate by other countries and I think we should also do that, as it seems sensible as a way to reduce the risks and return to a form of normality. Of course, they haven't said whether that is one jab or two! I do think they should still be cautious as to when they lift the travel restrictions. I also think that the vast majority of older people will not travel abroad this year, even if they have had their jab, as there are still risks and Europe is way behind us in terms of vaccinations.
Don’t you worry the pensioners won’t give two shytes about the rest of us once they are sorted... That era has always been the same ‘super selfish’.
We may have all sacrificed our freedom, our incomes and our education, but they won’t give up their holidays.
I'm beggining to agree with BFC these people are selfish.I know there’s the odd one who have used the trials as a way of jumping the vaccine queue, but I’m not sure I’d class that as anything other than helping yourself really. I have said this before, but that generation are largely egocentric and, in balance have certainly reaped the greatest havoc on the planet collectively. Unfortunately both prior and subsequent generations have paid the price.
I'm not talking about trial volunteers. I'm talking about the 1000s of selfish volunteers that will be ensuring you get your jab quickly and efficiently, be it the 75 yr old former GP that puts the needle in your arm or the 70yr old lady that points you in his direction.I know there’s the odd one who have used the trials as a way of jumping the vaccine queue, but I’m not sure I’d class that as anything other than helping yourself really. I will pass on your views to my elderly father in law who caught the disease whilst hospitalised for something else.I think you'll find it's you oldies which have caused all the problems the youngsters tend not to get put in hospital from the disease.
The vast majority of patients were admitted to hospital because they already had Covid from outside.Wasn't the spread primarily in hospitals?
That’s terrible news that mate my condolences must have been horrible for your family.I will pass on your views to my elderly father in law who caught the disease whilst hospitalised for something else.
Oh, hang on I can't. He died a lingering lonely painful death caused by covid.
Ah right, well I’m not saying there aren’t some decent ones scattered amongst the rest, though again, you do wonder whether there motivation is genuine or whether they are just helping out to get the issue sorted quicker, so they can get back to topping up their tans and Botox injections.I'm not talking about trial volunteers. Whilst that is really awful, I’m not entirely sure it is fair to address that comment to poolseasider.I will pass on your views to my elderly father in law who caught the disease whilst hospitalised for something else.
Oh, hang on I can't. He died a lingering lonely painful death caused by covid.
And that`s how populism works folks.
Someone points at a demographic and speciously accuses them of pinching all the custard creams and some people begin to believe it.
"Largely egocentric", "Benidorm and a life of luxury", "reaped he greatest havoc on the planet". Lazy generalisation and unfounded hyperbole.
Sounds like a Nigel Farage polemic...
You're right of course it is purely selfish. The quicker this is sorted, the quicker they can get back to cleaning seats at Bloomfield Rd, so that the stadium can be re-opened for those with a vaccination passport or a state pension.Ah right, well I’m not saying there aren’t some decent ones scattered amongst the rest, though again, you do wonder whether there motivation is genuine or whether they are just helping out to get the issue sorted quicker, so they can get back to topping up their tans and Botox injections.
The government implemented the lockdown in tiers and some have suffered more than others because some people don't think the rules apply to them!I think I have made my position clear It's about exiting restrictions at the same time
Another classic example...You're right of course it is purely selfish. The quicker this is sorted, the quicker they can get back to cleaning seats at Bloomfield Rd, so that the stadium can be re-opened for those with a vaccination passport or a state pension.
Then there's next project, renovating Stanley Park bowl, although sod the Academy I'm only helping if the new facility is only used for walking football (except for TAM of course ).
I'm very sorry for your loss but you need to read the whole thread and the context it was put in even TAM agreed with me.I will pass on your views to my elderly father in law who caught the disease whilst hospitalised for something else.
