Friday night tea/dinner thread

Baked salmon, steak cut oven chips, salad and sourdough bread for me.

Mrs spudgun is not partaking because we had lunch at the Toll House in Lancaster and she is not hungry.

So I dine alone...
 
Basic meal for me but one of my all time favourites
Bangers and mash with baked beans
Be careful Lala, stealing Allez’s thunder on food posts. He won’t be happy.
 
Pot noodle followed by approximately 12 pints of guiness in the local. That could fluctuate as been a challenging week in work. Haha.
 
Fillet steak with a few chips, salad, pepper sauce and some veg, well I say veg, onion rings.

Tomorrow will probably be a FoodFest t/a after the missus and missy fc have spent hours making Halloumi and Feta from err a kit bought as a bday pressie for me. Next bday I'm going to just redistribute the pressies there and then. Save me all that looking forward to something😁

Already entertaining mate, it's my 60th mid October and the lass in the couple coming round is 60 two days later👍🏻

Wouldn't be able to celebrate together otherwise as I'm away on my actual birthday and both me n Mrs Wizz have known Jules for over 50 years😵‍💫
 
Done a Roast pork joint with good Crackling with mash and 3 veg. It was going to be Sundays lunch but have been invited out so had to use it up. Followed by cheese n biscuits with couple of glasses of Malbec. Lifes hard st times 😜🍷🍷
 
Note to self. I must learn to cook. Getting some great ideas off this thread alone. My Mrs did everything for myself and finding it hard. I did not realise how much she actually did for us both to keep the house afloat. Fridays was always homemade beef curry. Made from skirt beef from the butchers. She worked miracles with cheap cuts of meat and neck chops etc. Her potatoe Ash with a dumpling crust was unreal.
 
We have some brilliant friends who, knowing my ineptitude at cooking, regularly brought round meals during darker times....and still do!!
Tonight it’s homemade steak and ale pie...followed by homemade blackberry and apple pie...
Some people are just the best..🧡

Steak for me, with crinkle cut fries, mushrooms, and gone all out chavtastic and bought a tin of marrowfat peas 🥹

Aldi Belgian bun for dessert.

Steak and chips as well Lala, but had to make do without the marrowfat peas sadly.
Bought the steaks at Tesco at £4 a pop. They were very good actually.

Washing it down with 4 or 5 beers (all out of diet lemonade tonight 😁)

We had Home made sweet and sour sauce with Youngs Haddock Fillets and Birds Eye battered Fish Fillets( first time tried and actually damn good…can’t abide the traditional version)…one of each.
Plus stir fried Stem Brocoli with oyster sauce,Shittake mushrooms and Shell off Prawns.
with rice of course.

I was last nights chef.

Today Scampi,Chips and Peas with coleslaw and a green salad…simple dish as we are having our flu jabs this morning….and the the England Rugby game after waiting for the result from the Valley.

Tomorrow ( yet to be bought ) an appropriate Fillet or whole Fresh Fish ( from Sea it Fresh in Cheadle Hulme,buy it from them as they travel over from Fleetwood each day and one of the Guys is a Pool fan🥳) fried if fillet or oven roasted if whole over a bed of potatoes and Spinach with chicken stock plus carrots and peas.

Rest of the week ….
Home made chick pea curry( already made) with M&S Chicken Curry,Okra and Veggie Samosas and Naan bread ( Monday)
Seafood Linguine ( prawns,oysters and shelled scampi…from the freezer) with a Tomato based Biffy Sauce ( courtesy of Costco) and side Salad( Tuesday)
Peking Duck with hoisin sauce,leeks and cucumber( deseeded) strips and Chinese Pankcakes( Wednesday)
2nd lot of Biffy Sauce with Tinned Tuna and pitted black olives and wilted salad plus side salad( again😂)( Thursday)
…..and Friday a vegetarian fried bean fajita with avocado salad and Tortillas…..wife says she wants to try this for the first time🙄

…..we do like to do a Menu for the week so then we know what to buy…but yes it often gets changed but not this week.
We share the prep and cooking work as required.
 
A day late but we had Hot stone Steak that you do at the table…Hotel Chef who we know very well and have a laugh with comes out as usual and asks did we have a lovely meal…I said you didn’t cook it I did 😀

Indian take away for me and my girls tonight.
Chicken tikka masala for me, bit tame I know but just what the palate fancies tonight, with a bit of pilau and a popadom or two.

Having Italian tonight at Tiziano on Harrowside Bridge.
Out with friends who also want to celebrate its my birthday next week.
