So as we have a clean slate, what do you want from friendlies this summer?
Were we too adventurous with Leeds and Everton last season?
Do we really want Southport again?
Will Dobbie get some Scottish teams down?
What would be the ideal pre-season fixture list?
 
Halifax Town away so I can walk to it ! Might even be possible if Wild is appointed given his links to the club.
 
Not bothered as they are only to get the players somewhere near match fitness. Apart from one usually against much higher opposition as a curtain raiser to the season starting. I rarely go to them anyway.
 
I think we should play a top L2 side.

Maybe a Scottish prem side.

Someone from the Irish league as we seem to fancy a lot players from there

And a lower end championship side.

Maybe chuck in some sparkle with a bigger european/prem team as well?

In terms of gererating revenue, although we were outnumbered Rangers and Celtic but different weekends.
Southport have a reputation of causing trouble.
Happy with any Prem teams including those just promoted, so we can see what might have been, lower league teams to build networks to loan out or buy players.
 
Berlin - Great city - a few games against the likes of Berliner FC Dynamo or FC Union Berlin or Viktoria Berlin. However, if we play Berliner FC Dynamo you need to be careful - I went last season and their fans made Millwall supporters look like Forest Green Rovers.

Dobbie also played for Hibernian so maybe a trip to Edinburgh for the seasiders!

If it's Gary Bowyer manager then a trip to Dundee would seem obvious.
Especially with us sometimes training at St Andrews.
 
I'd go to Q of the S. It's a tick. Good couple of days away too. Celtic...Well they boo the national anthem so they're verboten, yes?
 
Week before the season starts: Championship club at home. Should be PNE but for policing costs so Blackburn instead
Two weeks before: League Two club away. Accy or Morecambe
Three weeks before: Conference club away. AFC Fylde
Four weeks before: Conference North away. Chorley

The Rangers match was a good earner
Dobs started his career there.
Celtic I do not remember playing and again would be a big earner, and probably less, trouble than Southport.

I love friendlies they’re great for moral, nice days out or weekends away. In fact, they should bring back the IoM trophy , that’s always good for a piss up !

We played Celtic in the early 70s. I think it ended 3-4. I definitely was there!
