I like a more intimate gig venue and as my music can be eclectic, I rarely pay more than £30 a ticket as the artists I like are usually a little niche or just generally not well known!
However, I do push the boat out for a few of the "big hitters'..for example Green Day and Foo Fighters are c£80/90 this summer (first saw Green Day in 1994 and it probably cost about £2.50!)....I'm taking my lad who's inherited his dad's great taste in music!
However, Pearl Jam are playing at the new AO Arena in Manchester...prices are £160 FFS!
Is it me being tight or is this just what's expected from these types of gigs..? I'd imagine Beyonce, Swift etc are as madly priced.
Saying all that I still prefer the smaller venues as I think you lose a lot of the experience of live music in stadiums etc.as you're potentially miles away from the artist.
